CAN OF SNAKES-URBAN LEGEND

CAN OF SNAKES-URBAN LEGEND

Good afternoon my dearest friends, followers, supporters and readers too. I went to the used book store the other day and found another grand book of info of urban legends for you all. I have found that you all seem to enjoy the interesting tales. For today, I have a simple and short tale called 'THE CAN OF SNAKES'.
Two fishermen were walking along a stream and happen to pass a little boy who was fishing with a pole, hook, line and bobber; he had a tin can of worms next to him. The two men asked the young boy, 'How are they biting today? The little boy replies, 'The fish aren't biting that much, but my can of worms sure are!"
The two men chuckle at the little boy's statement and thought it was an odd answer. After watching the boy for a while the continued down the scenic path by the steam. The next day, the two men returned later on in the day, to the same spot by stream to see if the little boy was back fishing. When they got closer to the spot on the stream, to their horror, they found the same little boy laying down in the water bank. He seemed to have been dead all night. Right beside the boy, was his tin can of worms, his pole, hooks, line and bobber too! However, there was no fish caught in  the pail for fish. But inside the Tin Can of worms was no worms, it was actually full of baby rattlesnakes, copperheads and water moccasins too! So sadly the boy had been bitten to death.
Although more of a rural than an urban legend in its settings 'The Can of Snakes' continues to be told in contemporary contexts. The story is related to other Folklore and Urban  Legends like, 'Bed of Snakes' which has circulated especially in the south and Midwest and more often involving  swimmers and water skiers rather than fishermen. I hope that you find the Urban Legend to be interesting. I have never heard of 'Bed of Snakes' I might have to have to look that one up.
Love you all very much

WHITE STRING OF JAPAN URBAN LEGEND

White String-
Good evening my dears I thought I would try and catch-up for the month If I can or try to. For this post I know that some of you enjoy a good creepy urban legend and I know that there are quite a few in the Japanese legend. The White String is right up there with creepy. Its a short one but interesting too. Some say besides being a urban legend it is a true one however that one I will leave for you all to decided for yourselves.
The White String is a strange urban legend from Japan that I found on my favorite site for Japanese folklore/urban legends. The story is about ear pierces. Which is odd because I had my ears pierced when I was 16years old in the mall and my little sister did at was 14 and were both just fine. Well one with the tall. It was very popular in the 80's to get your ears pierced as I do remember that too. At the time in the 80's when the popular time of getting your ears pierced was going on this urban legend stopped quite a few young japan kids for fear that the urban legend would happen to them! Many were very afraid that the urban legend would truly happen compared to some of the others so many didn't get their ears pierced during that time of the 80's.
Well this is the tale of what happen to one girl in japan that did get her ears pierced and why so many believe the urban legend of the White String.
ONE DAY THERE WAS A YOUNG GIRL THAT WAS DESPERATELY WANTED TO HAVE HER EARS PIERCED. SHE LIVED IN JAPAN WITH HER PARENTS AND THEY SAID SHE WAS FAR TO YOUNG AND NEED TO WAIT A FEW YEARS. HOWEVER THE YOUNG GIRL PLEADED WITH HER PARENTS, SAYING THAT ALL HER CLASSMATES WERE GETTING IT DONE AT THIS AGE PLEASE!PLEASE! SHE WOULD SAY! WELL, EVENTUALLY HER PARENTS LET HER DO IT AND GAVE HER SOME MONEY, THEY TOLD HER TO GO TO THE LOCAL MALL TO GET IT DONE IN A LOCAL JEWRY STORE THEN GET PIERCED EARRINGS. THEY FELT AT LEAST SHE WOULD BE SAFE IN THE JEWRY STORE MALL. OR AT LEAST THEY THOUGHT.
THINGS DON'T ALWAYS GO AS A PARENT WOULD HOPE THE YOUNG GIRL DECIDED TO KEEP THE MONEY FOR HERSELF AND TO THE PIERCING HERSELF. THE YOUNG GIRL GOT HER BEST FRIEND TO HELP HER DO IT JUST IN CASE IT WAS HARDER THAN SHE THOUGHT. FIRST THEY HEATED UP A VERY LARGE NEEDLE TO MAKE SURE NO INFECTION AND THEN STUCK IT IN BOTH OF THEIR EARLOBES. OF COURSE IT WAS VERY PAINFUL FOR BOTH OF THE GIRLS. BUT IN THE END BOTH HERE FRIEND AND HERSELF HAD PIERCED EARS AND COULD WARE THE FANCY EARRINGS THAT THEY WANTED TOO. SO FAR EVERYTHING WAS GOING FINE AND NO SCARY CURSE OR LEGEND HAD HAPPEN TO THE GIRLS FOR DAYS. BUT ALL GOOD THINGS WHEN YOU ARE MESSING WITH A URBAN LEGEND MUST COME TO AN END. SO IT HAPPENED A FEW DAYS LATER , WHILE THE GIRL WAS IN SCHOOL SHE WAS BEGINNING TO GET A LOT OF PAIN IN HER LEFT EAR WHERE SHE HAD PIERCED HER EAR. THE LEFT EARLOBE BEGAN TO GET VERY ITCHY AND PAINFUL TOO. DURING A BREAK AT SCHOOL SHE DECIDED TO HAVE A LOOK AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM TO LOOK AT HER EARLOBE., ONLY TO DISCOVER IT HAD GOTTEN EVEN WORST. HER EAR WAS BRIGHT RED AND INFLAME AND VERY ITCHY TOO! THE YOUNG GIRL BEGAN TO SCRATCH AT IT ALOT. STILL IN THE SCHOOL BATHROOM SHE NOTICED SOMETHING ODD, WHEN THE YOUNG GIRL HAD A CLOSER LOOK AT HER EAR, IT LOOKED LIKE THE END OF A PIECE OF WHITE STRING, WAS COMING OUT OF HER EARLOBE. THE YOUNG GIRL THOUGHT THIS TO BE VERY STRANGE & IT SHOULD BE THERE SO, SHE STARTED TO PULL AND PICK AT THE LONG WHITE STRING THAT WAS COMING FROM HER EARLOBE IN HOPE THAT IT WOULD STOP THE PAINFUL ITCH TOO. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THERE WAS A VERY LONG PIECE OF WHITE STRING HANGING OUT OF HER PIERCED EARLOBES, AS SHE LOOKED AT IT THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANY END TO IT. IT JUST WENT ON AND ON AND ON! SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! BUT SHE DIDN'T THING IT WAS ANYTHING IMPORTANT, SO SHE GOT A PART OF SCISSORS & CUT THE LONG WHITE STRING THAT WAS HANGING OUT OF HER EARLOBE THAT DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY END TO IT. AS SOON AS SHE CUT THE WHITE STRING EVERYTHING WENT BLACK & SHE COULDN'T SEE A THING! RUNNING OUT OF THE BATHROOM TO GET HELP SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE LOCAL DOCTOR EXAMINED HER. FINALLY THE DOCTOR WAS ABLE TO TELL THE YOUNG GIRL WHAT HAD HAPPEN TO HER AND SHE ALMOST WENT INTO SHOCK. YOU SEE, THE DOCTOR AT THE HOSPITAL SAID TO THE GIRL THAT SHE WILL BE BLIND FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE! THE REST FOR THIS IS; THE REASON FOR THIS IS THE WHITE STRING THAT YOU WERE PULLING ON THAT WAS IN YOUR EARLOBE AND THEN NOTICE THAT IT WAS VERY LONG WITH NO ENDING WAS YOUR OPTIC NERVE. I DON'T KNOW WAY IT WAS COMING FROM YOU EAR BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE COME HERE TO HOSPITAL BEFORE YOU START CUTTING THINGS....
SO THAT IS THE URBAN LEGEND OF THE WHITE STRING. HOPE YOU ALL FOUND IT INTERESTING MY DEAREST FRIENDS, FOLLOWERS, SUPPORTERS AND READERS

SELCHIES-2016

SELCHIES -
Selkies are said to be fictional creatures that live in Faroese, Icelandic, Irish, and Scottish
Mythology. They can shed their skin form seals to become humans which are usually woman. The legend is originated on the island of Orkney and the Shetland Islands. The Silkies have many different names. This can be Selchies; Silkies or Selch. is some of the Scots word for the seal/selkie from the old English seolh.
Legends-
The legends of the Silkier has been around for centuries, especially in the Icelandic, Ireland and Scotland countries. These of course were the oceans of the very icy seas. The Selkies of these icy seas are able to become human by shedding their seal skins and can then return to the seal form by putting them back on. Ancient stories concerning the selkies are generally romantic tragedies. Sometimes the human[mostly always men] will not know that their lover is a selkie and wakes to find them gone.Other times the human male will hide the selkie skin which is almost always of a Female selkie, thus preventing her to return to the seal form. A selkie can only make contact with one particular human for a short amount of time before they must reture to the sea/ocean. They are not able to make contactt with that human again for seven years, unless the human has steal their selkie skin and hidden it or even worst of all
''burned it' If they have burned the selkie seal skin they may never go back to the ocean again where they probably have a husband and children and a entire family that they will never see again. And the longing for the sea will forever be there but she will never be able to be again.
There are a few such stories in ballad; called the Great Silkie or Sule Skerry and the movie
'The Secret of Roan Inish'.
The Selkie legend is also told in Wales, but in a slightly different form. The selkies are humans who have returned to the sea. Dylan - Dylan Eil Don - the firstborn of Arianrhod - was variously a merman or sea spirit who is some versions of the story escapes to the sea immediately after birth. In the Faroe Islands there are two version of the story of the Selkie or what they say 'Seal's Wife'. This is how the tale goes; A Young farmer from the town of Mikladalur on the island of kalsoy goes to

the beach to watch the selkies dance under the moon light as they always do every summer, because it can be so very cold in the winter months. The selkies always take care in hiding their seal skins so that they can find them at dawn to put them back on to go back into the sea their home to their families. Also so that no farmers or fishermen can find them to make them their wife against the will. Well, in this tale that is just what happened to one such selkie, the farmer that was watching them dance by the moon light was also watching where they were putting there seal skins too. He had his eye on one beautiful selkie maiden, so he went to find her skin and so she couldn't go back to sea, and forced her to marry him.

The farmer kept her skin in a chest, and the key to lock it around his neck both day and night. One day when he was out fishing, the farmer discovered that he forgotten to bring his key. When he returned home the selkie wife had escaped back to the sea, leaving their children behind. Sadly years later, when the farmer was on a hunt in the ocean, he killed both her selkie husband and her two selkie sons. She then promised to take revenge upon the men of the island of Mikladalur. Some of them drowned, some shall fall from the cliffs and slopes and this shall continued, until so many men have been lost that they will be able to link arms around the whole island of Kallsoy.
Male Selkies are very handsome in their human form, and have a

great seduction powers over the human women. They will typically seek those who are dissatisfied with their romantic life. This includes married women waiting for their fisherman husbands to come home after months at sea. If a human woman wishes to make contact with a selkie male all she has to do is go to a beach and shed seven tears into the sea.
If a human male steals a female selkie's skin, she is in his power, that instant he has taken her seal skin. Then is forced to become his wife.

Female selkies are said to make excellent wives, however their true love & home is the sea, they will often be seen gazing longingly at the ocean. If  she finds her skin again, she will immediately return to her true home, and sometimes to her selkie husband in the sea. Sometimes a selkie maiden is taken as a wife by a human man and she has several children by him. In these stories, it is one of her children who has discovered her sealskin who often unwitting of its significance and she soon returns to the sea leaving the child. The selkie woman usually avoids seeing her human husband again but is sometimes shown visiting her children and playing with them in the waves. Selkies are not always faithless lovers. One tale of a fisherman Cagan who married a Seal-Woman.
Against his wife's wishes he set sail during a dangerously late in the year, and was trapped battling a terrible storm, unable to return home. His wife shifted to her seal form and saved him, even though this meant she could never return to her human body and hence her happy home.
Some stories from Shetland have selkies luring islanders into the sea at midsummer, the lovelorn-humans never returning to dry land. Seal shapeshifters similar to the selkie exist in the folklore of many cultures. A corresponding creature existed in Swedish legend, and the Chinook people of North America have a similar tale of a boy who changes into a seal.
Theories of the origins of the Selkie~
There seem to be lots of theories on the Selkie, one is that they belief is that the selkie ware actually fur-clad Finns, traveling by kayak. Another is that shipwrecked Spaniards that washed ashore and their jet black hair resembled seals. As the anthropologist A. Asbjorn Jon has recognized though, there is a strong body of lore that indicates that selkies are said to be supernaturally formed

from the souls of drowned people.
It really comes down to what you believe.
I hope you all enjoyed the legend of the Selchies
there are so many legends about them

Himuro Mansion-Urban legend of a horror true story in Japan

Himuro Mansion Urban Legend-
The Himuro Mansion
I found another interesting Japanese urban legend about a dark history of an haunted house. It seems that there are quite few folklore legends & urban legends that come from their country. So I will be doing a few more from Japan and they find some from other countries too. So I hope to kinda mix it up a bit. I did the 'Aokigahara Forest' which is true when it comes to Urban legends. As for this Urban legend the Himikyru Mansion, this too is actually based on a true story sadly. What it is about is a very dark past of a Japanese Strangling Ritual, Demon tag Ritual, & Binding Ritual.

These three dark rituals were performed in a hidden room, not shown on the house's original plans. This room is connected to the house by a long lattice corridor that starts at the family and the horrible murders of an entire family who lived there. According to the urban legend, the Himikyru Mansion is was an large traditional Japanese house that is located in a rocky area somewhere on the outskirts of Tokyo. It would seem that horror rituals were performed deep inside the Himuro Mansion. Some of these such rituals were as theRubble Room.
The Great Hall that lead to
the secret rooms
It was said that the Himuro family did these rituals as a duty to keep Hells Gate sealed which they felt was on the grounds by their house. So for many years, the family would take part in these Rituals until --- Kirie's ritual had failed which caused the Calamity. This, of course, was the killing of all occupants in the mansion home and then unleashing the Malice which cured the Himuro Mansion. All within died after that in the house when the curse was unleashed. It was said after that the
This is and a girl that is being prepared
for the Strangling Ritual and the Sacrificial to
protect the family from bad karma. It is done
every fifty years. This young woman is
in the being stages.

Himuro Family Master then killed anyone that was left in the house or who had survived the horror before taking his own life.

According to the urban legend, the Himuro Mansion is a large, traditional Japanese home located in a very rocky area on the outskirts of Tokyo. So it's kinda hard to find. The Mansion has always been famous sadly for the worst mass murder in history in Japan.
The Himuro Mansion was then abandoned for many years as
Women of the family prepare
the young woman for the
Ritual Strangling Sacrificial
strage things kept happening to those who came too close to see what happened there or the ones who were curious never came out of the house. Locals became very afraid of the area of the house.
There is one more ritual that this family would do called 'The strangling ritual which involved a sacrificial murder of a young girl every fifty years. The purpose of this gruesome ritual was to protect the Himuro family from bad karma which they believed would emerge from a portal in the mansion's courtyard. By doing this Strangling Ritual-Sacrificial Murder, they felt it would keep the bad karma from destroying the family. This is how the family would plan for the Strangling Sacrificial Ritual Murder to keep their home protected from bad karma and from destroying the family. First they would select a baby girl from within the family and then raise her in secret.
The Sacrifice Room
They would call her 'rope shrine maiden'. The young girl has been kept away from the rest of the world, in complete isolation or else the ritual would not work. When the times comes for the ritual to be performed, the girl has no idea what she is in for and that her life is going to end horribly by the ones that she trusted her own family. They don't tell her what is going to happen to the very day.
The young girl tied down
with the ropes [game picture]
When it does come, they came tapping at her door and dragged her out screaming to the shrine in the courtyard. They tied ropes around her neck, her arms and her legs. Another team of the family would get the oxen and tie the ropes to their necks of each of the ropes in different directions, then kick the oxen's to run in the different ways. This would end the life of the young girl quickly thankfully. So she really doesn't feel much pain of her body being pulled apart, by dying instantly. Then the blood-stained robes were then placed over a portal in the mansion's courtyard sealing the gateway. If the ritual was successful, it would keep the bad karma away fo another half a century --- until they have to do the ritual again in another 50years. For generations, this tradition was passed down through the Himuro family however, the locals were very fearful of it thinking that it would backfire one day.
An folklorist by the name Ryozo Munakata moved in with his family
Himuro Mansion
to study the mansion, but he and his family disappeared, killed by the mansion's cure. Years later, Junsei Takamine and his research team went to investigate the mansion for Takamine's newest work and while working at the mansion, they too disappeared. Which left Mafuyu Hinasaki to the mansion in search of Takamine teams, & to see what happen to them and why they disappeared too. So Mafuyu Hinasaki went to the mansion in search of the Takamine Team, sadly Mafuyu Hinasaki and his team disappeared too.
Mafuyu Hinasaki younger sister, Miku Hinasaki arrives at the mansion & breaks the mansion's curse to rescue her brother.
The Himuro family were said to have practiced the ancient art & forgotten Shinto rituals that had long ago been outlawed in Japan.
As you can probably guess one of these were the occult rituals called, 'The Strangling Ritual' that was involved with the 'Sacrificial Murder'
of a young Girl'.
The purpose of this gruesome ritual was to protect the Himuro family from bad karma which they believed would emerge from a portal in the mansion courtyard. Called,' The Rope Shrine Maiden'.
Selected from a baby girl within the family of the Himuros and raise in secret & isolations till the time for the ritual to be performed. They the poor girl is killed. If the ritual is a success, as it has always been every 50years, it will keep the bad karma away for generations and this traditions was passed down through the Himuro Family.
However, during the preparations for the last record Ritual in the Himuro Mansion --- something went terribly wrong!
What happened was the 'Rope Maiden', fell in love with a young boy
she happens to see from the high window  from the mansion. It was the first time ever that an 'Rope Maiden' had seen a person outside of the world other than her home plus it happened to be a young man that she fell in love with at first sight.
This was a disaster in the Himuro home because she was supposed to remain pure and free from worldly influences and that was tainted by her seeing the young man through the window.  Her blood and
spirit were tainted in the opinion to the family and when she was sacrificed, the ritual failed miserably because she was no longer pure. Upon learning of the Maidens Love, the head of the Himuro family became very distraught. He was responsible for the ensuring that the ritual was a success to ensure the family would be safe for another 50years. Fearing that disaster would now befall his family, he went on an insane rampage throughout the mansion.
This is how the true story became real --- the father of the house brutally murdered the entire Himuro family, hacking them all to death with his traditional Japanese sword, 'the Katana'.
He believed that by killing his entire family, he was actually saving them from certain doom. When every family member in the mansion lay dead, he to upon his own katana committed suicide. From that day on the local people in the area and neighboring villages kept quiet about the story of the Himuro Mansion for many decades.
There were many reasons for this; ever since the terrible Murders of the entire family, people around the area reported a variety of weird happenings or inexplicable phenomenon taking place on the property. For example; some of these phenomenon's were --- Bloody handprints and large red stains have been found splattered all over the walls inside the house. The scariest and creepy is the
Ghostly apparitions that have been seen both at night and in broad daylight. It has been said it is the Ghosts of the murdered family members. It is said the Ghosts are attempting to repeat the failed ritual by using whoever is daring or foolhardy enough to enter the abandoned house. This could be why so many people disappear when entering the Mansion never to be seen again. When folks do enter the house and few that are found, they are always found dead, with rope marks on their arms and legs to indicate that they had been bound and pulled about. Others have been found torn to pieces in the underground tunnels of the Mansion that lie deep beneath the house. Nobody knows who made these lengthy tunnels or what their purpose was, however, many do believe that they were made for the Strangling Ritual. Besides all of the horrific things that were found and people disappearing from the house from trying to do research on the why's this is happen well after the deaths of the family. There is quite more going on. They have said if you take a photo of this window at the top of the house an ghostly image of a young girl in a kimono will appear in the developed photograph.
These incidents have provoked fear once again into the people of Tokyo Japan, and many believe that  those who venture near the house will become cursed. The reasons for this is that there were several deaths of curious folks that went to the house/property 7people to be exact that are still unexplained to this day!
Some believe that centuries ago on the day of the last Strangling Ritual when the Maiden was bound by the ropes on her ankles, wrists and neck, the ropes after they were attached to teams of the families oxen or horses to rip the poor girl from limb to limb --- basically quartering her. Then after the evil act, the ropes that bind her appendages would then be soaked in her own blood and laid over the gateway of the portal. They all believe that this would seal off the portal for another fifty years until the ritual had to be repeated. But for some reason the last recorded Strangling Ritual, it was said that the maiden had fallen in love with a young man who tried to save her. This 'tie' to the Earth tainted her blood and spirit as the family believed and ruined the ritual altogether.
I think they were a bit crazy in the heads if you ask me....
Anyway upon learning of the maidens love the master took matters in his own hands with his Japanese Sword an murdered all his family before finally in fear of what would happen to him, he took his own blade to himself.
UPDATE; In the ill-fated Paranormal Searchers in 2009 there was investigation during several cell phone conversations. Dr. Matt Adler had mentioned he had uncovered correspondence linking a one Miyuki Ishikawa to Himuro Mansion. Tha she had lived briefly in the house before moving to Thailand and then finally to Venice, Lousiana.
In a strange coincidence Dr. Matt Adler, the leader of the 2009 Paranormal Searchers Team, had made that year an announcement that he had discovered the location of Himuro Mansion and had earlier that year ---in 2009---conducted an investigation there.
SADLY ONCE AGAIN: IN 2009 Dr. Matt Adler and his team investigating were listed missing later on that year like all the rest of the investigators.
It is said that the Himuro Mansion is one of the notorious  haunted house in Japan. The mansion became the main setting of the first Fatal Frame Game too in Japan. I heard from doing this Urban legend of a true story --- if you ever decide to play Fatal Frame---careful for  games that are based on true happenings you never know what might happen. I know myself I would never!! think of ever playing the game.

ICICLE WOMAN OF JAPANESE FOLKLORE

ICICLE WOMAN OF JAPANESE FOLKLORE~
ICICLE WOMAN
Good evening my dearest friends&followers and welcome to my
humble blog once again. I thought since you all enjoyed the legend of the Sandman and many of my other Urban legends I would put a few more in for the last month of the coming new year. I was watching T.V. today with my beloved husband and they were talking about some of the Japanese folklore and how some are true and some or just folklore. For me, I really don't know. However, I find them very interesting. The Icicle Woman is called the Tsurara Onna.
It is said that the Japanese Icicle woman could be either naughty or nice? Loving or Lethal? in the Japanese Folklore. If these stories are true, the story of the Icicle woman/Tsurara Onna is a warning to the men of Japan if you fashion a woman out of an icicle, even when yu pour your entire heart into it, don't be surprised if she turns out to be a cold-blooded soul.
ICICLE WOMAN
IN HER BEAUTIFUL FORM
First I should explain what the Icicle woman of the Japanese folklore does or mean? In all the Tsurara Onna tales/Icicle Woman will start out the same way---a lonely man will gaze out of his window during the cold snowy winter, and will marvel at the beauty of an icicle hanging from his eaves of his home. As he stares deeply into the crystal-like structure, he wishes he could meet a beautiful woman just like the Icicle, to ease the pains of his loneliness. Well, just like magick a woman appears fitting his extra description the very next day. The woman appears at the lonely man's door seeking refuge from a massive and sudden snow storm. Well, as the tale goes the lonely man lets the beautiful woman in his home not knowing what is in store for him & they fall in love. The woman decides to never leave, and the two become husband and wife. In old ancient Japan, no ceremony was necessary. So they decided to marry.
ICICLE WOMAN ON THE MOUNTAIN
Well, life was good---as least for a little while. The man's new wife was quite attentive, very loving & everything he could ever hope for. However, after a while things did go wrong, because there is rarely a Happily ever after in Japanese Folklore. In Japanese folklore when you are dealing with snow monsters it never ends nice or happy. There are two different versions of this tale it just depends on which regions of Japan you happen to live.
The first version of Icicle Woman Folktale~
It seems there was one thing that worried the man about his wife, he couldn't help notice that his new bride never bathes, even on the most chilly of nights. The man started to worry about her health---surely she will get sick if she doesn't warm herself in a warm bath? Not to mention cleanliness. Over the years, he tries to entice her to use the bath & he also assured her she should feel shy or ashamed.
Well, after much talk, his wife then demurs, but eventually she can no longer refuse her husband.
After he prepares a nice warming bathe for her, he keeps himself busy around the house so she can enjoy a nice good soak. Well, hours & hours pass & the man becomes worried about his wife. He thinks perhaps she has fallen asleep in the bath? So he goes into the back of the house to check on her & finds the tub to be empty, with only frozen shards of shattered icicles laying around the perimeter of the bath. These too slowly had melt away.
[Some say what had happened was this; the woman never went into the bath, but into the kitchen to heat up some hot sake for her husband. After a long wait, he goes to the kitchen to find the shattered icicle shards].
Second Version of the Icicle Woman of Japanese
~The Frozen Dagger of Hate~
Well, this version is a bit more harsh yu could say... In this tale as some say 'The Frozen Dagger of Hate'. The Icicle Woman who had become his wife, he doesn't coax his wife into the bath or ask her to retrieve hot sake for him. Instead, what happens they get through winter in perfect bliss. however as spring comes and the temperatures warms, the man has notices his wife is getting anxious for some odd reason. One day the man woke up and his wife was gone, the door of their house was standing wide open and the last of winter winds was blowing through. The husband was heartbroken, but he assumed his wife has left him after using him for shelter through the winter. So he moves on with his life and meets a new woman and falls in love. Come summer, he moves his new wife into his house, They pass the months very happily until winter comes again.
When the world froze over again, the man notices a particularly large Icicle forming from the eaves of his house. Fascinated by it, he goes outside for a better look. Within minutes, he sees his former wife, lived that she has been replaced with another woman.
Inside the home, his new wife hears her husband shriek in agony. She then rushed outside and found him dead, with an large icicle piercing from his head through his eyeball.
Well my dears friends & followers that
are the tale of the Icicle woman of the
Japanese folktale the nice and not so nice version
I hope you enjoy
Happy Holidays
