SUMMER AUG RIVER OTTERS 2016

Summer Aug River Otters 2016~
Well, I know that I haven't been around of late. And I've have tried to be a good
blogger as putting new post for you all my dear friends and followers however, life happens.
My life has been a bit difficult these last couple of months. In fact the entire year has
been full of ups & downs. That's is why I haven't been on my blog that much this year. Also I not so sure I like what is going on with the new look with the G+ page but that is out of my control...So I
am hoping for a much better year for 2017.
But I did have a lovely Vacation with my family in Northern Calif. In the Redwoods. My Parents and
my sister, brother and everybody lives there so now every summer I get to go home to my family
which really helps my soul and my heart for missing my family so very much.
This post on my Vacation is again at the Sequoia Park Zoo-www.sequoiaparkzoo.net- which I truly love going to
every summer. I have left the website so you can see the zoo, where I go if you would like❤ Its called the Watershed Hero of sorts. It another of my favorites the underwater world of the very playful
river otters that you can peek inside their world as they swim and play. These amazing creatures do flips and turns in the water that are truly wonderful to watch.
I have always love the otter since I have been in my late twenty's in college. When I lived in northern California in the Redwoods. I would go to the beach all the time with my dear Katie who is now my spirit dog when every I could to watch the otters at Trinida Beach near the Pier. They loved swimming around there. And I would see many times a mom with their pups too. However, there was the great Exxaon Oil Tanker that had spilled during that time which was heart breaking to see on the news.... And I had to do a drawing about something that truly sadden me and hurt the environment.
but that oil pasta painting I will only show if you want me too.
So on to the happy River otters of the Sequoia Park Zoo. An little history on how the Otters came to
the zoo, was around 2011 when they received the exciting news that they had been awarded the grant to proceed with the next stage of 'the foundations of the Native Predators exhibits in the form of the
Watershed Heroes project - the River otters! This project brought the River otter back to the zoo!
It is a wonderful exhibit for both child to adult meaning that it starts with an open space for children to play and to explore with a real watershed and investigate of the salmon images in the shape of a salmon run beneath the children feet. As you go forward there is a tumble of logs that looks like what would be a shelter for either river otters or a salmon run where they would have to jump over to spawn. To me it looked like a lot of drift wood make into a art piece and a waterfall coming down for the children to play and to learn too. It would have been great when my son was young. But even now at 16years old he enjoyed the underwater exhibit as you walk pass to where the otters are into a area made to look like how they live. the deep river part where you can see through which my son and my self loved. And the other part on the top that is dry for them to lay in the sun . I believe there was 4 otters ...And they come from the northern Coast.
My family and I had a wonderful time watching the otters at the zoo. And I believe the Birds and the Otters, Red Panda, a few barn animals were are favorites... Watching them swim around was so fun
I got some great photos and videos too. I will try to put the video's on too! if it does work I will put them on my G+ page. This was my vacation at the zoo with the River Otters
Love you Wendy...

I hope that you all enjoy the birds from the Zoo
as much as my family did...
I will be trying my best to add more post of my vacation
of the Zoo and other parts of my vacation too.
Love you all
Wendy

15 Years Later, America Honors the Fallen on the Anniversary of 9/11/01

America Honors
The Fallen on the Anniversary
9/11/01; Fifteen years later~
Good Afternoon my dearest friends & followers, I thought today I would honor the
fallen and the many lives that have been affective by the terrorist attacks of Sept,11, 2001.
As the day goes on I must put something that our great president Obama addressing the nation, mind you I believe that he wasn't part of the conspiracies that both President Brush JR and Sr... were involved in with the lives of 3,000 people but that is just my opinion...
Let not Love; Faithfulness forsake you... Obama on 9/11/06
President Barack Obama on Sunday marked the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks by calling on Americans to embrace the nation's character as a people drawn from every corner of the world, from every religion and from every background. He said extremist groups will never be able to defeat the United States.
Obama spoke to hundreds of service members, and relatives and survivors of the attack that occurred at the Pentagon when American Airlines Flight 77 slammed into the Defense Department's headquarters, killing 184 people. The youngest victim was only 3 years old. In all, about 3,000 people lost their lives that day as a result of the planes that crashed into New York City's World Trade Center and in a Pennsylvania field.
The president said extremist groups such as the Islamic State group and al-Qaida know they can never drive down the U.S., so they focus on trying to instill fear in hopes of trying to get Americans to change how they live.
"We know that our diversity, our patchwork heritage is not a weakness, it is still and always will be one of our greatest strengths," Obama said. "This is the America that was attacked that September morning. This is the America that we must remain true to."
U.S. President Barack Obama lays a wreath during a ceremony to mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorists attacks at the Pentagon Memorial September 11, 2016 in front of the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. This… Obama spoke on warm, sunny morning, noting that the threat that became so evident on Sept. 11 has evolved greatly over the past 15 years. Terrorists, he said, often attempt attacks on a smaller, but still deadly scale, specifically citing attacks in Boston, San Bernardino and Orlando as examples.
In the end, he said, the enduring memorial to those who lost their lives that day is ensuring "that we stay true to ourselves, that we stay true to what's best in us, that we do not let others divide us."

"How we conduct ourselves as individuals and as a nation, we have the opportunity each and every day to live up to the sacrifice of those heroes that we lost," Obama said.
Obama began and ended his remarks by quoting from the Book of Proverbs: "Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the table of your heart."
Obama also marked his final Sept. 11 observance as president with a moment of silence inside the White House to coincide with when the first plane hit the Twin Towers. Atop the White House, the American flag flew at half-staff. Obama invited governors, interested organizations and individuals to follow suit.
A decade after the attacks, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in a raid in Pakistan that Obama authorized. Obama noted that event as he spoke about how the nation has responded since 9/11 by delivering "justice" to bin Laden, by strengthening homeland security and by preventing attacks.
"We resolve to continue doing everything in our power to protect this country that we love," he said, facing the crowd and the benches that are a hallmark of the Pentagon Memorial.
I happen to see on the news today a picture of mothers with many infants that were born
just days or a week after the Two Towers were attack, and now they are all teenagers of
15years old who have lost their fathers they never met. How they are just starting to grief
because they just didn't know their fathers and understand the grief process till now. It just
broke my heart to see these teens who lost so much. However, it seems that they have all become
very close friends and help each other.
Its hard to believe that its been 15years now, but then again my son is 16yr now and he was only 1yr when it happened. I will never forget the day we saw it unfold on our TV that day as I was feeding my young son of only 1years old then...Over doing research for this post I wanted to be very
sensitive to all the folks that has lost a love one on that day. So I didn't want to show any of the
horror of that day but the healing that is what we need as a Nation, Especially now with what
is going on in our country and throughout the states...There has been so much negative
and not positive within the country that I pray that we all can come together like we did that day, through the stories that I heard from the people that survived and the police and firemen that but their lives on the line...
When I was doing this post I didn't realize the days because I had a migraine and I posted it to early and I didn't get a chance to put the video's that I wanted to put on the post for you too. Plus I did find a video that is called 9-11 heroes of the 88th floor in the North Tower. [FULL DOCUMENTARY]. However in this video it does show the horrors of the day of 9/11. But I had a look at it, in full and its about two men that saved the lives of 70 people-which in turn ends up being 6,000 lives in less than 2 in half hours on the 88 floor on the North Tower just before it collapse.  I thought this untold story you might like to see, the fact that
lives were saved by people who just wanted to help one another in a bad situation. All people it didn't matter what you looked like creed, race or color. It was a matter of survival. And they did...
I just wish that we all could get along like this 6,000 people did...
Mind you there are some parts that show the planes go into the trade center which I am sorry. but after that it goes into the true story of these wonderful people that were able to survive and get out of the North Tower before it came down...
It was Fifteen years ago after the tragic terrorist attacks of Sept, 11, 2001. I just can't believe it has
been that long. Americans are again coming together to remember the fallen and honor the heroes on the anniversary of 9/11.
The city of New York and our nation took a pause Today Friday September 9, 2016 to remember all those souls that died that day, 15years ago. Remembrance ceremonies were held at the site of the former World Trade Center, The Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania too.
We must not forget all the Policemen/Policewomen & all the Firemen/Fire women, that risked their lives to tried to save as many people as they could, but in the process hundreds of Firemen and Police were killed too. Both just out side the two towers and inside the stairs going up trying to get to the people to say lives.
At the National September 11th Memorial & Museum in Lower Manhattan, family members of the
victims of the 2001 and 1993 attacks on the Twin Towers gathered to read the names of every person who lost their live.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence at 8:46 am; the time the first plane that hit the North Tower. Houses of worship around the city also tolled their bells at that same time.
The Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said, 'the anniversary offers an opportunity to honor the
nation's ability to rebound. 'We're also celebrating today the re-silence, the idea that we are fulfilling the commitment to never forget, however, when you look at the tower and the surrounding buildings that have been built since that faithful day, it reflects the strength of America. It reflects the strength of the American people and it certainly reflects the strength of
New Yorkers.'
Then The Director Alice Greenwald of the Memorial Museum said, ' Its really about commemoration. This is a day not to be politicize, not to make speeches, it's a day to remember those in essence who were brutally murdered for doing what we do everyday,' oh my...
Then a brother of a city firefighter who was killed in the attacks, said 'When people think they
are going to knock us down, they don't. We get up, we dust ourselves off.
We rebuild our lives, and we build it bigger and more beautiful than ever.'  Then a moment of
silence was observed at the time when the second plane hit the South Tower, at the
times each tower fell and when the attacks on the Pentagon and in Shanksville too!
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama observed a moment of silence at
the White House earlier in the morning too...
The President also marked the anniversary with a trip to the Army base at Fort Meade, Maryland,
where he will meet with members of the military.
A memorial service was also held in Shanksville,
Pennsylvania at the site where United Flight 93 crashed with all the hero's aboard...
Then at the WTC memorial plaza was closed to the public during the ceremony, but re-opened after wards for New Yorkers and visitors to pay their respects. The ''Tribute in Light'' reached into the sky over Lower Manhattan Friday night. The two beams of light will recreate the image of the twin Towers. The memorial beams will be visible from sunset this evening through dawn Saturday. The lights are located at the West and Morris Streets, but can be seen within a 60miles radius on a clear night. Today is a day that all can reflect on the love ones that they have lost, and to continue to inspire as American to come together and remember the heartbreaking day each year and to show the people that lost their lives that we will never forget!
Yet, even such a heartbreaking catastrophe couldn't break our nation's spirit as we have move forward. However, I do worry about what is happening in our nation this year. So much violence against young people and different race. My heart breaks that we are slipping back to old ways and not coming together as one nation/one PEOPLE ... ITS HARD TO WATCH THE NEWS THESE DAYS WITH THE VIOLENCE AGAINST OUR OWN AMERICANS...
However, there is a happy note to leave on this post on the Americans that fallen on 9/11
That is The Last Surviving 9/11 Rescue Dog.
New York City Throws Adorable Bretagne a Sweet 16 Birthday Party, Yes she is an American hero
and got the birthday party she so greatly deserved thanks to the city of New York.
Bretagne, is the last known surviving search and rescue dog who worked at ground zero on
Sept,11 2001 during the aftermath, is turning 16 very soon.
https://usar.tamu.edu/Pages/memorial.aspx
BarkPost and 1 Hotel Central Park knew she deserved a special celebration, so they flew Bretagne and her handler Denise Corless from Texas Task Force 1 to NYC to honor the duo. This was Corless and Bretagne first mission together 14years ago at the devastating attacks on 9/11. And since that time they have a bond that can never be broken.
Today on Sept, 9 2016 our nation remembers the victims of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. As well as the responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero trying to rescue those trapped in the rubble. One of those workers, who also happens to be an four-legged and extremely furry is being honored for her tireless efforts on that tragic day is Bretagne. For the first time since that devastating Sept morning Both Denise Corliss and Bretagne has returned to the memorial site ... Now Bretagne not as young as before but young spirited the 15year old golden retriever joins everybody to be honored....

Never Forget

I wasn't going to put this
video on the post but after watch
the 9/11 memorial museum video
I got very curious, angered and sadden
about what could be... The fact that
3,000 + souls were killed
for the cover-up of our governments
Mistakes or what ever, they felt they needed
to cover-up and huge conspiracy about how
the two towers came down.
And in doing so they killed American
citizens and said it was terrorist,
then had us go into a long 10year war!
Well, I have only watch 45mins and
I catch believe it but then again after watch
this much I can sadly so this is why I am putting
it on here for you to make your own
decision about what truly happened.....

Redwoods the Answer to Global Warming~

Redwoods the Answer to
Global Warming~
Good morning my dear friends & followers. Well, I have another climate change post that is dear to my heart! The Redwoods! Yes our California Ancient Redwoods Could be the key weapon against Global Warming!
Its just sad that thousands of the 1,000 year old+ Redwood trees have been clear cut centuries ago. Even when I was in College back in 1989-1993 in Humboldt County, I remember the large logging trucks that would go by with the huge cut redwood trees on them... However, since I have been going down to Humboldt County to visit my family I don't see the logging trucks much anymore. So I believe there is still hope...
A new study has been found that these younger 300-400year old Redwoods and the few area's where the ancient Redwoods still stand store more carbon from the atmosphere per acre than any other type of forest on the planet;
Including all our tropical rain forest around the world...
These towering trees both in the Redwoods and our Rainforest's, is where researchers have found the secret weapon against global warming. They have also found how this could influence everything from logging rules to how parks are pre-served as each state and country deals with their own climate change.
Many scientist have long known about the Van Pelts findings in the Redwoods. Plus their many factors in helping us put a hold on global warming with the Trees. Since these enormous trees can
live more than 1,000+years or more depending on many factors. And they grow to immense
heights into the sky's - they are able to capture significant amounts of the carbon dioxide from the
local skies that are sadly filling with more carbon dioxide every year.
NOW IT WAS JUST VANPELT AND HIS TEAM THAT FINALLY HAD THE ACTUALLY
RESEARCH TO PROVE THEIR FINDINGS....
So, You all might Wonder - how the team did it?
Well, it has to do with photosynthesis, the natural process in which plants use energy from the
sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water to sugars that helps them grow, while also
releasing the much need oxygen into our atmosphere.
The VanPelt's Team of researchers from
Humboldt State University & University of Washington, which
painstaking set out to measure exactly how much carbon dioxide these massive Redwoods
were sucking out of our Atmosphere. Some of these Redwoods dated back to the
Roman Empires Times & were belief it or not, some of those Redwood ancients still manage to still
stand proud...
T
he team was working with others from UC Berkeley; Save the Redwood league too!
These teams chose the forest areas between Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park, which is
near the Oregon border. Also the choose UC's Landels - Hill Creek, Reserve in Big Sur, which is
about 500 miles away.
Then, from these points of reference is how the teams began their research on the Redwoods.
They found that the forest in the Northern part of Jedediah Smith Redwood park - had stored
more than 2,600 metric tons of carbon dioxide per hectare in a given area of about 2.5 areas
of the Jedediah Smith Redwood park in their study...
If you think about it that's more than twice the amount of the 1,000 metric tons estimated for the
Ancient Conifer forest in the Pacific Northwest; Then there's the...
Towering Eucalyptus Forests in Australia with their Tasmania forest.
As for how these research teams actually did their studies, it was a bit to complex for me
to write down or figure out exactly what they did....
However, I did figure out a few things that made sense to me...For one thing it is said, that it
took 7years and a very large team that was very deicated  to stick with the research for the
7 long years...
They also discovered, that there were 6 types of trees around the world that can grow more
than 300+ feet tall...
These trees are;
1-Redwood; 2-Giant Sequoia; 3-Douglas Fir; 4-Sitka Spruce; 5-Australias Mountain Ash;
6-Tasmanian Blue Gum...
However, out of all 6 trees, the Redwood is the best at storing Carbons which is growing ever
so fast in our atmosphere around the world. Especially in certain countries around the world,
which facing huge problems with Carbons in their atmosphere. In some countries the people have to
ware face masks to protect themselves from the harmful carbons that have drifted so much lower in the atmosphere of their large cities. I don't want to name names of these places but I do hope that
in the coming years climate change and our air quality will become I high priority...
As for why the Redwoods are the number1 for storing Carbon that is in are atmosphere - and at this time is harming even our oceans too....
1-They live longer than most of the other trees above that I mention; 2-Their wood is virtually fireproof; 3-They can survive winds that break their
tops off, but the rest of the tree survives for hundred's of years;
Finally These Redwoods will roughly store two-thirds of all the carbon in their heartwood.
What this means it deep inside the tree. This will last hundreds of years inside their heartwood,
even after the tree dies. So in a sense it is incase in the heartwood of the dead redwood for another 1000 years to save our atmosphere.
The reason for this, the Redwood trees don't quickly rot away like most trees do...
Its the climate that they live in that helps this of course. Sadly. the beauty of the tropical/rainforest area's they do rot very quickly... Too much rain.
This is the reason why I love the Redwoods... Their beauty and the ancient strength that
protects us all around the world. I am just lucky that my family lives very near the Redwoods
so every summer when my family Mark &Kai we get to see them every year...
I have loved the redwoods I would say since 1989 when I went to college up there and lived there for many years. However, live changes and I am now in Washington State... these last almost 20years...
I hope and pray one day Mark Kai and I can be back down with the family once again... I figure once my son is out of high school and has decided where he wants to go to college so its not to much longer..
For the last 10years+ our climate has been changing for the worst. I use to do lots of post on the many ning.com site that I was on... One was -Goddesss&Animals.ning.com; Forestofthefaie.ning.com
these were just two that I remember. I was on many others. The thing that I remember about these two was I had many groups as they called it on climate change.. however, at the time no one truly believe that it was happening no matter how many posts or groups on the subject that I wrote.
But now over 10years later on this new platform...
I have started one more time but on a smaller scale... Mostly because I can't handle that horrors of what is happening in the world due to climate change..
Lots has happen in my life that I just cant do as much as I could back then.
But I am still going to try...Why because I believe the people out there are starting to believe that it
truly is happening. For example as the earth continues to warm the earth the Antartica and Artica are melting at rapid rates. This will make our seas rise at alarming rates..
There are islands in the seas that had entire country of people on them with wild life too ---
Gone! Disappered  under the sea.. This will happen more and more.. There is more problems that will happen too. I happen to watch the move Waterworld..... the movie isn't that far off.
So I hope that you found this all interesting .. I am going to do more of these on a small scale...
I have a few home viedos of the Redwoods I hope you like

Wendy....

there is 'the Dazzling Golden Pheasant stunning scarlet ibises' Chattering guira cuckoos, and many more beautiful birds... The Bird on top is my momma 's  favorite its a pigeon type in Africa ? but don't quote me on that one. All I know its beautiful and my mum loves it and so do I.
Here are a few images that I got inside the Free-flight Aviary..Enjoy

I hope that you all enjoy the birds from the Zoo
