Shopiltees-

Shopiltees-
Shopitees Seahorse
For today's post my dears, friends and followers I will explore the playful water spirits Shopitltees that
resemble seahorses. However these Mythical creatures should not be confused with the Shetland Cabyll-Ushtey, Shoopiltee, Kelpie Celtic Sea horse [know in Ireland as the Phooka Faerie; It takes any shape it wants, which could be either a horse, pony or many other creatures or humans too] and also quite dangerous is the Kelpie horse of Scottish/Celtic Scottish Water horse. If you are more curious about these tales of these  faery horses and the Pooka faery here is a link to my blog so you can read it for yourself; wendyjargonncom.blogspot.com/search/label/Celtic%20%20horse
All of these are similar but, not at all like the Shopiltees water spirits horses. These are very friendly and
Shopiltees Seahorse
playful. Before I go further on these tiny friendly and playful spirit water horses. I wanted to cover the great interest that Horses have always had with the fairies. Now this is bothe water horses and land horses. This is also true with the Elves too. I could be that the fairies & the elves have a special way of speaking to thee animal kingdom unlike we humans never figured out how to do. And that might be one of the main problems why are animal kingdom is dieing in enormous numbers today. So back to the Fairies and the horse and how much they love horse; It was said many moons ago before man when it was just the fairies and Elves, they would take great delight in horsemanship and were excellent riders. They sometimes entice young humans when the humans started to enter the world to ride out with them and would dash along them like the wind. Afterwards, those young men became the most fearless riders in their towns and country sides which wasn't the best thing in those ancient times. The majority of the humans in those days feared new things and the people that knew the fairies were a bit frighten. So at night when the humans horses were neigh at night, the fairies, elves or witches would ride them hard.  So that they could not be found ever again. Again I got side tracked; The
Shoopiltees or Shopilees are tiny WATER HORSES or ponies that like to play about the Shetland and
Shopiltees Seahorse

Orkney Islands, However they haven't been seen in more than a hundred years. They are quite similar to the KELPIE HORSE in character and live off the blood of the drowned victims. I did found a little more info on this tiny Shetland mini-seahorses called Shopiltees and Iceland has the nykur seahorse. Even thought they say that these Shopitees Seahorses are said to be very friendly, I still would  use caution because of their larger cousins the Kelpie Horse and the Phooka Horse that can turn into any type of shape. These Shopiltees are said to be friendly and playful yet they could very well lure you into the water just like their larger cousins too. But Their history does have a good one many moons ago as playful tiny water horses that lived in the Shetland and Orkney Islands that was over a hundred years if not more. When they were on this physical plane people of the Shetland and Orkney Islands loved this magick creatures. Where they might be now? I am sure they are still here but, in a different plane or a parallel world that is right next to ours... I hope that you all Enjoyed the tale of the Shopiltees Seahorse tonight. I wish you all a lovely Evening my dears, Friends & Followers. I love you all so very much. Have a great day tomorrow...

Cailleace Bhuer The Blue Hag of Scotland-

Cailleac Bhuer the Blue Hag of Scotland-
Good afternoon my dears, Friends and Followers; for today
Cailleach Bheara -
Blue Hag of Scotland
post, I thought I would bring you into the Scottish Highlands. One there we will be
talking about the Legend of a water faery called the Cailleace Bhuer or the
Blue Hag of Scotland. I find the Gaelic Mythology to be most interesting, just as the
Greek mythology with the Gods and Goddess of Zeus & Hera too. It seems that in the
Gaelic Mythology which is both in Ireland and Scotland; the Cailleace or called Cailleach Bhuer [Cailleach in Irish pronunciation is - 'kaljex - In Scottish Gaelic pronunciation is - kayex]. Anyways The Cailleach
Bhuer is a divine hag or a creator deity of the weather and possibly an ancestor deity too.
The Blue Hag is most commonly known as the Cailleach Bheara or Bheur it just depends on which
area's of Scotland you happen to be in. The word Cailleach means 'hag' in the modern Scottish Gaelic
language. Now that we have the understanding of how the blue Hag of Scotland got her name we
can move on to the fun part the legend and Myth. It seems that in Scotland where she is also known as
Beira, Queen of the Winter, she is credited to making numerous abouts of enormous mountains and
The Calilleac Bhuer with her large
staff that can freeze the Ground to Winter
large hills , which are said to have been formed when she was striding across the Scotland highlands and valleys when she accidentally dropped rocks from her creel or wicker basket.  In other legends it is said
that the Blue Hag of Scotland had intentionally built the mountains of both Scotland and Ireland too, to
serve as her stepping stones to walk about the lands. She would always carry a hammer for shaping the
mountains, hills and valleys the way she felt they should be shaped. Others would say she was the mother of all the Goddesses and gods of the Celtic Gaelic legends and myths. The Calilleace Bhuer had several powerful traits like that of a Goddess that was befitting to the personification of winter; She would herd the deer, fights with the coming of spring and with her very large staff that is with her all the time can freeze the ground.  I also discovered that the
Scottish Watery Faery had a partnership with the Goddess
Brigid - Before I go further on in my post I thought I would
give you all a brief paragraph about the Goddess Brigid so that you'll have a better understanding of both
Brigid Goddess of Spring
women. They both are very strong deities in their own right in my opinion. The main quality that is different
between the two is that the Goddess Brigid is said to be the marking of the coming of Spring. Unlike Calilleac Bhuer who in the marking of winter or making of winter.  Brigid is honored by the coming of Spring too. She is a crucial deity on this sacred day as she is the representation of fire and the coming Sun Goddess of the Sun and Fire, as she gives hope for the Suns quick return at the coming of Spring. As a
Goddess of Fire (Brigid Goddess) she represents life and creative energy. Brigid's role as a healing Goddess
is represented all over Ireland in the form of their sacred wells. It is also said that whenever Brigid walks, flowers and shamrocks will spring up in her footsteps. Brigid is not only the Goddess of the warm seasons, but the Goddess of the entire year of sorts the Earth Goddess - In one season she shows her warmth by smiling her most beautiful face and in the other seasons, she shows her cold and remote face. It seems that the Celtic culture was the calendar year as broken into only 2seasons in ancient times, this would be only that of Summer and Winter. Not like we have now in modern times of the 4seasons of spring summer fall and winter.  Brigid was the daughter of the Morning sun who held the sunrise in one hand as little yellow flame and in the other held the red flower of fire without which men would be as the beasts who live in caves and holes. I did find this interesting quote to some up Brigid ' She herself and no other, is.. that ancient goddess whom our ancestors saw lighting the torches of sunrise on the brows of hills, or thrusting the quenchless flame above the horizons of the sea; whom the druids hailed with hymns at the turn of the year, when, in the season we call February, the first comers of the advancing spring are to be seen.' I hope that this small paragraph will give you a little insight on the Goddess Brigid and then when I get into the two as a partnership it won't
be so confusing...It seems that this partnership begins with Cailleach Bhuer in the seasons as the deity or spirit to rule the winter months between the Samhainn [Starting November 1 the first day of winter] to
Storm Hags
Bealltainn [Ending to May 1 the first day of summer]. I hope I haven't lost ya:o While Brigid rules the
summer months Bealltainn and Samhainn. However this all can depend on location and climate to when the
transfer of the two powerful two goddess /the winter goddess and the summer goddess is celebrated any time between February 1 at the earliest, March 25, or Bealltainn May 1 at the latest and the local festivals marking the arrival of the first signs of spring may be named after either the Calilleach or Brigid goddess. Well now that I probably totally confused you all my dears, about the two different goddess I will try to tell
you more about the Calilleachan or the Blue Hag or Scotland. They are also know as the Storm Hags, and
seen as personifications of the elemental powers of nature, especially in a destructive way. They are also said to be particularly active in raising the windstorms of spring, during the period known as A 'Chailleach'.  It seems that these Storm
Hags would usher enormous 'Chailleach' winter storms off the west coast of Scotland. These Massive storms would take three days and during those three days/nights which would roar of the coming tempest is heard as far away as even
20 to 40miles inland from these 'Chailleach' created by the Storm Hags - When she is finished , she will lay all the land within those 30miles with a thick layer of pure white snow freezing snow..I tried to find for you
all the origins of the Cailleach Bhuer or the Blue hag of Scotland and this is the only bit of legend that
I could find for you all.. It goes at it goes;
'' Legend has it that the Cailleach was tired from a long day herding deer. Atop Ben Cruachan she fell asleep on her watch and a well she was tending overflowed, running down from the highlands and flooding the valleys below, forming first a river and then the loch. The overflowing well is a common motif in local Gaelic
creation tales - as seen in the goddess Boann's similar creation of the River Boyne in Ireland .' So there you have it my dears I don't really know it that how the Cailleace Bhuer or Water faery of Scotland became the Blue hag of Scotland but you never know.. I do hope that Enjoyed this tale in the Highland of
Scotland. And I will try to find a interesting tale for you all tomorrow I wish you
all my dears, Friends and Followers a lovely evening love and light and good reading ;ooo)

Arawn Celtic God of the Underworld-

Arawn Celtic God of the Underworld-
Arawn Celtic God
Of the Underworld
Good afternoon my dears, friends and followers for today's Sundays post I thought I would bring you to the world of Arawn the Celtic Welsh God of the Underworld. It was said that Arwan was an
Welsh Mabinogion God, that would round up the souls of the dead with his hounds - [His hounds were noted for their red ears and white bodies]. Arawn was portrayed as a badass in the modernity stemming from religious times of an good/&evil Celtic God designed to taint the reputations of the Celtic/Pagan Gods. It is said on one
occasion that Arawn aligned with the Tuatha De Danaan and is have married into the Irish tribe. There are other stories of this Celtic Underworld God, few but interesting - One is when Pwyll meets Arawn when he is out hunting around the fringes of his kingdom and irrigates the God Arawn by allowing his hounds to be free. There are other tales of the God Arawn and Pwyll where they even Ultimately bargain at where they exchange places in which they live for a length of 12months in each others form. Kinda like shape shifting is probably what they did. Pwyll became the Lord/God of the Underworld and Arawn became the Lord for Dyfed. It seems that the Idea worked out for both, because they end-up becoming firm allies after the 12month period. Probably do to the fact that neither of the gods slept with either of their spouses throughout the trade. I didn't
find a whole lot on this Celtic God of the Underworld but, I did find that he was interesting though. I did
Arawn Celtic God of the Underworld
discover that Arawn was quite the master of a magick cauldron with rejuvenating power. Apparently his

skills were that of so great with the Magick cauldron and rejuvenating power that King Arthur had led
a mission into Annwn, Arawn's Kingdom of the Underworld to steal this treasured cauldron of the
Celtic God Arawn. This to me was rather odd for a  Great King Aurthur to lead a mission to the underworld for a cauldron but then again alot of things happened back in the ancient times that were odd too. There were a few other tales about this Celtic God Arawn of the Underworld that he was in charge of; these others were that he was additional the guardian of the magick creatures that were inside his kingdom or the Underworld too. It seemed that Arawn was both chief of the wild hunt and gods of the underworld besides the main ruler of course would be Hades... I hope that you all Enjoyed this post for Sunday my dears, Friends & Followers I wish you all a lovely day
and great week coming my dears. Love and Light to you all.

Tips From the Garden~

Tips From the Garden~

WINTER GARDEN
In this post I thought I would give you some Idea's for plants, bush and trees that would give your garden a uplift during the winter time. My garden becomes rather bleak and bare which is very difficult because I love to garden so much, so I wanted to find someway of making the Garden fun during the winter months...I hope these tips will help you give your gardens that up lift during thoughts long winters and lift you spirits during the long cold winter blues. I am also thinking of giving you an Garden tip every Saturday so keep and eye out for those Tips For the Garden:oo
What I found is, there are many varieties of long lasting berry hollies that are an must - have for any garden to help with the winter blues. The Hollies that I found; either an plants, bush or trees have these beautiful dark green glossy leafs, sometimes blues and their varieties of variegated forms. There are others that have striking bright berries that will brighten any one's winter blues.
I found a couple of wonderful Holly's that I think you all would love in your Gardens and they would look great in the summer too. I have made a list for you so It will be a little easier for you all my dear friends and followers;oo
1-English Holly [Ilex aquifolium] This holly has the classic 'Christmas appearance, with its glossy green leaves
and either red or sometimes yellow or orange berries.
2-Japaneses Holly Watanabeana [Ilex Crenata] This beautiful bush holly with its smooth leaves works well to line to a path or try a taller evergreen variety as a backdrop as beds and borders. There are also the
columnar varieties like the 'Sky Pencil' to that can serve as sculptural points of interest especially in areas where you wish to draw more attention..
3-Blue Hollies [Ilex x meserveae] These beauty's have the blue-green leaves that heighten the plant with its either yellow or pink flowers.
Most of the Hollies will thrive in the Zones 5-9 with some even growing in zones 4. If you need to know more about Zones of plants, flowers and much more, I did a post on Zones which I will put a link here;
This way you can check anytime you need what Zone you happen to live in... wendyjargonncom.blogspot.com/search/label/Spring%20Flowers%20For%202014
Another interesting fact about hollies is, they will grow best in well-drained pots or soil slightly with enriched acid soil or organic matter. And of course compost type of enriched soil too.[note I will do a post on another Tips From the Garden- to show you about composting].
It is also helpful for your Hollies to keep thick mulch of either pine needles or other woody material around the plant each year to help maintain the soils acidity and to keep the roots cool and moist.
My favorite of all the Hollies would be the Chinese Hollies [Ilex cornuta]. Why you might ask? Because they are partially the kind that can self-fruit and will produce berries without a male variety Hollie next to it. Just like most Berrie plants - like that of the Blue berries you have to have another right next to it for them to produce lotssss of berries. [I found this out myself with my own blue Berrie bushes] I works the same with all other hollies too, for the exception of the Male Chinese Hollie - Ilex cornuta - which will produce those bright  red berry's during the winter months that will give your gardens that snap you'll love. Besides you'll also find new friends too. Many winter birds will come around that usually hadn't, that love to feed on these lovely red berries. Well I hope that you all will find some Tips for your gardens and I will see you all again for Saturudy's Tips From the Garden:o Much love to you all my dears Friends and Follower..
