Good afternoon my dears, Friends & Followers for today's post I bring you all to the Celtic Gods for today. Cernunnos. Yes Cernunnos was a horned God of the Celtic Mythology; not to be confused with Pan - The Goat Hoofed God, which I did a post in March of 2014..  The Celtic God for today is

God Cernunnos

Cernunnos. He ruled all Nature, woodlands,forests, hunting, death, reincarnation, fertility, crossroads, sacrifice, magick, circles, cycles, wild animals, all horned animals, all male animals, the underworld, the astral plane, the stag and physical love/lust. The God is the patron of all hunters and warriors of the woodlands and forests. It seems that Cernunnos had many different titles which included; Lord of Animals; Lord of the Beasts; Stag Lord; Lord of the Hunt; Lord of the Forest; Lord of the Underworld; God of the Hunt; The Horned God of the Hunt;The Horned One; and finally The Horned God. I also found that the Oak is Sacred to Cernunnos. And his animals besides the Stag include the - boar; ram; bull; snake; horned serpent ; all horned animals; plus basically all mammals. Many have honored this Celtic God on Samhain, Ostara and Beltain and on Midsummer's Eve many moons ago when he would lead the wild hunt. And even some do today. Cernunnos is quite the exception of all the other Celtic God; Why because he is said to be primarily human. Some have said, he is most identified with his very large stag like horns on the top of his head and having the Goddess Danu as a consort. I also discovered that his name is associated with being named as the son born at winter solstice. So the God Cernunnos has many different Faces of sorts.  It seems that the God Cernunnos has

also been link with both fertility in the human sense and the fertility with the animals & the plant world as well; meaning hes the protector of the woodlands, vegetation and wildlife.  He is sometimes paired with the Goddess Danu of Earth

been embraced by both neo-pagans, pagans and is a firm entity in the Celtic pantheon. Just like the Goddess Danu of Earth, he too seems to be one of the most ancient of the Celtic pantheon. He was also known as Herne 'The Horned One' which is a Celtic God of fertility, life, animals, weatlh and the underworld. It seems that The God Cernunnos was worshipped all over Gaul and his cult had spread all over Britain as I have meant. He was depicted in many different ways; with the antlers of the stag always but, sometimes carrying a purse filled of coins.There have been many different depictions of The God Cernunnos most are found in many parts of the British Isles and western Europe. I found in my readings that he is mostly portrayed with a beard and wild, shaggy hair - after all he is the lord of the forest. However, this is not always the case.  Unlike Pan - the Goat Cernunnos has rather mighty large antlers, is the protector of the forests and is a Master of the hunt. He is a god of vegetation and the trees in his aspect as the Green Man, and a God of lust and fertility when connected with Pan the Greek Satyr.  The Horned God is born at the Winter Solstice, who then marries the Goddess at Beltane and dies at the summer solstice. Cernunnos then alternates with the Goddess of the moon in ruling over life and death, continuing the cycle of death, rebirth and reincarnation.
