The Blue Men of the Muir Scotland-

The Blue Men of the Muir Scotland-
The Blue Men
of the Muir
For today's post my dears, I am going to bring you to the ancient lands and seas of Scotland. We will venture the legend of the Blue Men of the Muir. In the Gaelic language the word 'Muir' means 'Sea'. So the Blue Mean of the Muir tells us that these creatures live in the sea and were in fact mermen. They lived off the northern coast of Scotland in a body of water between the western Hebrides islands called the Minch Channel. Further along the Hebrides Islands there was chain of Islands, between the Shiant which - meant 'Charmed' in Gaelic' Islands and the Isle of Lewis. There is what they would of called a waterway called the Struth na Fear Gorma. That name would be translated to 'in Gaelic language ' The stream of the Blue Men.' There have been many tales of the Blue Men of the Muir. They have had many Gaelic translations from their homeland Scotland, some of which I've given to you already. However these Gaelic Scott's men had other mans for their Blue Men of Muir legend - which was 'the Na Fir Ghorma' meaning they are only found in the outer Hebrides islands off the shores of Scotland where they have been known to be seen floating in the Minch Passage of Scotland, which is sometime called the 'Channel of the Blue Men of Muir'. (In Gaelic language its 'Sruth Nam Fear Gorma.) Now this Minch Passage that the Blue Men of Muir love to float about in the seas is said to be located between the Isle of Lewis and the Shiant isles off the Mainland of Scotland.  The Blue Men of

Muir have earned their name and have have been known in legend because of their blue-gray skin. And having the appearance of male humans even though been blue skin from head to fin of sorts with grey beards. From what the legend says about these blue men of Muir, they live in the most treacherous and dangerous parts of the ocean of Scotland. Its also the deepest and coldest area of the Scotland isles too.  It seems that the seas that surrounds these Scots Isles will remain calm and the weather too, as long as the Blue Men of the Muir and their Chief Tain are in their underwater caves. However, the moment that they appear, they will summon up fearsome sea storms and swim out to any vessel whose captain who might be foolhardy enough to attempt to make a run through the Minch Passage. The intention of the Blue Men is to wreck the ships/sailors to their doom who try. This is by asking the seamen a question. if they aren't able to answer the question correctly, the Blue men mermen will destroy their ship and drag the sailors and the captain down to their watery underworld. However, I have heard another tale that Blue Men merman have been tricked by a few cleaver skippers and Captains in their Treacherous and deathly waters of the Minch Passage. And that is where the Blue

Men of Muir might be thwarted, since they love rhyming contests and will love a challenge with an Captain or Skipper of an Ship before condemning all crew to their watery deaths. If the Captain has an agile tongue and can always get the last word with these Magick Blue Men of the sea then they will spare the ship and his crew.

It is said for centuries that many fishermen and sailors have said they have seen the Blue Men of the Muir 'riding the Waves around the Shiant Islands.' These mermen are considered very magical spirits who control the violent tides throughout the area even today.
There is another group of Murderous menfolk that live near the Orkney Islands, also off the shores of Scotland. These creatures are called the Finfolk and they were reportedly lively deep in the sea in an area called Finfolkaheem. They are malicious, dangerous and mysterious too. The finfolk like to sneak to the shore, either by swimming or stealing boats to get there. Once they have made

it to the shore, they look for unsuspecting humans who get too near the waters edge. Then they will snatch them and take them to their home Finfolkaheem to enslave them forever. There is one way to escape the finfolk. They love silver, so if one approaches you, it is recommended you throw any silver you have as far away from yourself as you can. The  merman will lunge for the silver first , giving you a chance to run and escape their clutches. There certainly seems to be a lot of action in those cold , frigid waters off of Scotland...  Now this are just the Mermen of the frigid waters of Scotland..Who is to say about any of the other parts of the world in the very deep waters where mermen and mermaids may have a different attitude toward humans. However I wouldn't be surprise either with all the stuff that we have done to different species in the pass. Its is very sad in a way, you see I truly believe that there are Mermaids and mermen that live in the depth of our oceans, probably in the more colder deeper area's of the oceans of Greenland, Ireland and Scotland being that its more safe and it where the whales are too. but that is only my opinion. I am always curious what might you

think to.  I have found some more information on this subject that I will be sharing with you soon in another post... Before I end this post I most add the other part I had found about the

Blue Men of the Muir and their connection or belief that they were derived from the Moorish Slaves who were forced into sailing the Viking long ships centuries ago, then were left and marooned by the Norsemen in the Minch Passage during the 9th century. These unfortunates people wore the long blue robes and grey-blue veils as do their descendants did as do present day Tuaregs of North Africa does too. So there you have the Blue Men of Muir & and the
different views of the Mermen of the cold deep waters of the Scotland Islands and
Greenland .. I leave you ideas and though to comments our to yourself
For I know it is a very hard subject to talke about ...
