Dragons & Legends Mount Pilatus
Mount Pilatus in the Swiss Alps
This is a great true story that I found in my quest for 'The love of the Dragon!"
I hope that you all well enjoy this wonderful true story too about the legend of the
Pilatus Dragons in the regions of Mount Pilatus~
The Mountain itself is quite grand at a height of 2132 feet above sea level.
It was believed that in medieval times that there were dragons with healing powers that live in the rugged clefts and crevices of the Mount Pilatus.
In the summer of 1421 a powerful dragon flew to mount Pilatus and landed so close to a farmer by the name of Stempflim that he fainted. When the farmer came to, he discovered a lump of coagulated blood and a dragon stone, the healing powers of which were officially confirmed in 1509.
The chronicle of Petemann Etterlin tells how Regional Winkelried killed one of the Mount Pilatus dragons: He wrapped a spear with thorn twigs and thrust into the open mouth of the dragon, finishing the beast off with a sword. In the process drops of poisonous dragon's blood spurted onto his hand. These drops- And the poisonous breathe of the dying dragon - froze the blood in Winkelried's veins and he also met his death.
In the early hours of the morning of 26 May 1 1499, a wondrous spectacle was seen in Lucerne; after a terrible thunderstorm, an enormous, wingless dragon rose out of the wild waters of the River Reuss at the Spreuer bridge, The beast had probably been taken by surprise by the thunderstorm and washed down from Mount Pilatus in the Krienbach, which flows, into the Reuss beneath the Jesuit church.
Several - well respected and educated townspeople authenticated the truth of this story.
HOW THE YOUNG COOPER WAS SAVED BY THE PILATUS DRAGONS~
One sunny day, a young Cooper arrived in the Pilatus Regions. It was late in the year and he was searching for rods with which to make barrel hoops in winter. Deep in his search, without thinking, he climbed higher and higher up the forbidden mountain. Not until dusk began to full he realize with horror that he was just beneath the summit. Terrified, he started to hurry downwards but stumbled and lost his footing. He tumbled down and down into a deep black void and finally lost consciousness when he came to, with a painful swelling on his forehead, the sun was already high in the heavens. But all he could see was a tiny glimpse of blue sky. He was trapped in a cave deep inside the mountain!
The opening through which the daylight was shinning was far, far above his head. Oh no, what could that be?
He peered deeper into the darkness of the cave and his blood froze in his veins! Two gigantic beasts with scaly bodies and fiery breath were staring at him.
Believing his last moment had come, the cooper crossed himself, his hands shaking with fear as the beasts slowly drew closer and closer to his great astonishment, the enormous creatures meant him no harm. They sniffed him all over, curiously but gently, before again turning to lick at the moon-milk, welling rich and thick form the cave walls.
And so the Cooper spent the next few months in the dragons den. Winter covered the Mountain with
ice and snow, but he remained quite snug and warm in the cave, eating the moon-milk and at night nestling like a baby into the warmth of the dragons huge bodies.
One glorious day, the spring sun burst into the cave. Birds chirped joyfully outside and the sweet scent of the thousands of spring flowers stole into the depths of the Great Mountain. The dragons lifted their great horny heads and unfurled their mighty wings. One of them flew right out into the warm spring sunshine. But the second dragon came close to the cooper and snorted gently, as if to tell him that the time had come to leave their winter home. The cooper plucked up the courage, and grabbed hold of the dragons tail and suddenly they were both soaring in the fresh spring air, high above the cave. Carefully the dragon lowered him onto a flower - carpeted meadow. The young man waved to his winter companions for a last time before he took his heels running as fast as he could back to the valley.
Such rejoicing as never before was heard in Lucerne as the copper's friends flung their arms around him. They had long given him up for Lost! He had to tell the incredible story of his rescue on the dreaded mountain over and over and over again.
Finally he had the tale of his adventure embroidered on a silken tunicle, still found to this day in the possession of the church of St. Leodegar in Lucerne.
Ever since then, the Pilatus dragons have been revered as good - natured, helpful creatures . And sometimes, on a dark night, when the moon is playing hide and seek behind ragged clouds, a giant shadow passes across its face. Visitors to Mount Pilatus may just catch the faint sounds of the beating of leather wings. Should this happen and a trace of the beneficial power dust lightly dust over you when you visit this magical place indeed. Then you are indeed a very lucky person. Because it is said that you have be dusted by the Pilaus Dragons.
When I found this story I fell in love with it. Also the history and the truth of what the descendants have to say in this story was wonderful. I just had to share.
These images are of - Mount Pilatus and the tiny picture is of the church - St. Leodegar in Lucerne.
I thought it would be fun for you all to see the actual Mountain that the dragons were in - And the Church where copper had his story embroidered on a silken tunicle for generations to come.
I hope you all enjoyed this story as much as I did.

Ice Dragons - Legend/Myth
Ice Dragons
On my quest to find as many of these majestic creatures as I can-
"For the Love of the Dragon!"
My next dragon is the very unique and not often heard of Ice Dragon.
History~
These Amazing creatures live in Glaciers. They migrated from the Arctic to Antarctic regions to ensure that they stay in the darker regions, and a wintry climates. These dragons live in different kinds of Lairs to. But it isnt' that different if you really think about, given where they live. Normally they will find a enormous glacier that is facing the open sea or ocean that is higher up then the ocean levels. Sometimes they do find a iceberg for a lair but the are not usually big enough for their large bodies, so that's why the Ice dragons will look for the prefect glacier and will hollow it out with many tunnels deep within the glacier they have chosen for their home high up on a mountain in the Antarctic.
Appearance~
These dragons can be either white, very lite blue dark blue, dark purple and pale pink. Their wings reflect the sun
when they fly but they have to fly at great heights for their wings to do this. When you look at the Ice dragons wings they will appear very thin and textured almost like the texture of snow. Their tail, claws and horns have the same icy white hide too.
When the Ice Dragons wings do reflect the sunlight from those great heights in the very cold climates of the Antarctic, the animals below won't be able to see the Ice Dragon because the sun rays are going right through his very thin textured wings. This makes it very easy for these dragons in the icy climate to find food and go hunting without his prey even seeing him.
These dragons can also fly at great speeds. This could be due to their wings and how textured and thin there are. They are also very wide so they are able to maneuver quickly with those great speeds.
Water Elements~
Ice dragons are part of the water element family and can do many things with the ice and water.
These dragons can breathe ice shards that can pierce through anything. They can create Tsunamis
because they are part of the water element and they can create big waves that can appear in hurricanes. These unique dragons can even make so now by flying high up in the air and freeze the moisture into snow.
Weapons~
These dragons have a strong icy blast of air and shards of ice.
Diet~
When these beautiful dragons go on the hunt it will usually freeze its prey alive or dead because it likes its meal to be frozen.
It also freezes its prey because it might want to eat its prey later. So they keep it in their lairs for safe keeping during the long winter months.
When these dragons hunt for seals, the seals tend to go underwater.
The Ice Dragons can go after them but for only a limited about of time. This would give you an good idea why the Ice Dragons like the use of their strong icy blast weapon on the seals and all other animals. It makes for a quick freeze on their prey. Especially the seals - particularly due to the fact that they have a limited time in the ocean to chase after them.
They most popular prey is polar bears, killer whales, giant quid, walrus, leopard seals. And really most anything they can blast with their icy breath for food in the long winter months. I found that the Ice Dragon to have many different personality, when doing this post. This of course is in any species. But for some reason I found it to be more so in the Ice dragon, then in some of the other dragons that I have done. This might have to do with the different pieces of art that I have found on the Ice Dragon.
It seems with this installment of the Ice dragon, the Artists have made a variety of different personalities of this type of dragon. I found this to be very interesting . And I love the artwork too.
I hope you all enjoy this installment of my 'Love of the Dragon!'
And the Artists photo's too.

The Spirit Dragon
The Spirit Dragon
Although most legends originated that the Spirit dragon is either fact or Myth. It is entirely possible
that these creatures do exist and may even do today.
Why! do you ask. There have been many stories that speak of these eight Spirit Dragons that still may be in existence today. And some say they are called the Guardians or keys to some secrets of the universe. Others have said they come from a strong spiritual and Magical Energy too.
Origin~
The origins of these amazing Dragons is unknown. However, It is believed that they came into existence when some of the people with the strongest souls were born, their energy's or orbs came into existence centuries ago, with the original people souls that the eight spirit dragons had inhabited in the being of time.
Appearance~
The appearance of the Spirit Dragons varies at times. In truth they have no true appearance in their true form. But in their manifested form they can appear in many different forms of beautiful dragons.
One form of the Spirit dragon that is most commonly seen is - ( A blue dragon - when the dragon manifested into this form of the dragon he can appear to be a large dragon with brilliant blue scales. And on his underside or bellyside will be covered in a lighter shade color of blue scales. As for his wings - they too are a brilliant blue, same as their bodies for the exception of the outer rim of their wings which is a deep purple on some of these dragons. On the Crest of their head, brow, eyes and a strip down their muzzles is a fiery red color that goes all the way down to the tip of their tail. And the last eight nails on their tails are a deep crimson red.)
This is one version of the Spirit Dragon. Their eyes are Multitude of colours ranging from the darkest brown to the lightest blue you would ever see. They also so have very sharp teeth, but there is really no real use for them.
I found in my readings and research of the Spirit Dragon that there are quite a few different manifestation's of these special creatures. For one I have seem many Great Artist depicted the Spirit Dragon as a beautiful White Spiritual dragon.
There was one that depicted the Spirit Dragon as a beautiful small yet powerful bright green dragon like in nature. And the last one that I found which i will share with you later in the post his images of these amazing artist is more of a Japanese style of a spirit dragon and the dragon is white and gold.
The Spirit Dragon in its spiritual form or purest form appears as a small orb of light and energy if
you will just before he will manifest into his true form that he is most often seen just before he turns to the soul of the person he inhabits.
These creatures do not die as long as they inhabit a soul. However, if they remain outside of a person soul long enough they will die.
This length of time varies but on average it is a period of supposedly one human year.
Special Abilities~
The Spirit Dragon has many different abilities that most of the other dragon kin do not. And that is what puts them in a whole new level.
Some of these abilities were, being able to withstand drastic temperatures changes and dangerous amounts of energy in their spiritual forms because in this form they are nothing but a heat, energy and light.
It is conceivable that one could actually survive outside a being, if the spirit dragons were to live in a area with high amounts of pure energy. In its manifested form, its hide will turn most any weapon making into a perfect ally in battle.
Note: Spirit Dragons not only will fight directly when it is for a cause such as the protection of the World, they live in. They also will grant the person they inhabit enhanced strength and speed along with the wisdom and knowledge that they have collected over their seemingly infinite life spam which could be centuries.
Territory~
Spirit Dragons do not have any real territory. They live in the spirit of a person where they obtain the necessary energy to live when a person dies they move to a new spirit.
Diet~
Their diet is very much different than that of any of the other dragons, this is because these dragons don't eat. They are spiritual dragons and don't need food in a practical sense. They do food but not in away that you would think.
These Grand Creatures feed off of energy. This is because they give off large amounts of energy
themselves which must be replaced in order to live.......
To get enough energy they inhabit the spirit of a living soul and draw on the souls energy. After they're done with the energy it is given back to the soul. This is a endless process which happens rapidly.
There is an equilibrium, however a balance between the spirit and the dragon and it's 'victim' - if you want to call it that. I don't really think of it as a victim being that all the wonders that they receive being a host to the dragon for a period of time. The knowledge and and wisdom that the dragon passing onto each of his souls is a gift in my opinion.
Its more like the spirit and the soul share each other's energy. This will only work in the soul due to the high amounts of energy it has.
It takes at least a year for them to run out of energy if they are not in a spirit- the dragons-. Not every spirit can support these amazing creatures. Some are less energetic than others. The people rarely ever know that they harbor one of these fantastic dragons too.
Mating~
Spirit Dragons do not mate. There are only eight to ever live as it is told in legend. If one was to die
which doesn't actually happen, because it is reborn when a new soul is created.
It may lose all knowledge it gained, But it continues to inhabits the world and seeks those three questions that all Spirit Dragons do.
The Three Questions Dragons Seek~
These are the 3 Questions that the Spirit Dragons always seek to find answers to questions of their lives they inhabit~
1) Why so some people treasure life so much?
2) Why do other creatures seek to destroy that life?
3) What is this life that these creatures treasure or destroy?
4) What do you think the spirit Dragon would want to know if he choose your body for that year? Interesting question...
I hope you all enjoy my installment of the Spirit Dragon - for my Love of the Dragon!
note; Please enjoy the amazing photo's of the amazing Artist who have painted them.
they aren't mind. but I love the way they have depicted the dragon.

The Raven - Edgar Allen Poe 1845
The Raven
by Edgar Allen Poe
1845
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
while I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door,
"Tis some visitor, "I muttered,"tapping at my chamber door-
Only this, and nothing more."
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor,
Eagerly I wished the morrow;-vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore-
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore-
Nameless here for evermore.
And the silken, sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me-filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating,
"Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door-
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;-
This it is, and nothing more."
Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
"Sir,"said I,"or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you"- here I open wide the door;-
Darkness there, and nothing more.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore?"
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, "Lenore!"-
Merely this, and nothing more.
Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
"Surely," said I," surely that is something at my window lattice:
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore-
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-
'Tis the wind and nothing more!"
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately Raven of the Saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door-
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door-
Perched, and sat and nothing more.
Then This ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,"I said,"art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordy name is on the Nights Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door-
Bird or Beast upon The sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as "Nevermore."
But the Raven, Sitting lonely on the placid bust, Spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered-not a feather then he fluttered-
Till I scarcely more than muttered, " Other friends have flown before-
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before,"
Then the bird said, "Nevermore,"
Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
"Doubtless,"said I, what it utters is its only stock and store,
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore-
Till the dirges of this Hope that melancholy burden bore
of 'Never-nevermore',"
But the Raven still be beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird,and bust and door;
Then upon the velvent sinking, what linking this ominous bird of yore-
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaut and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."
This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burn into my bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,
But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light. gloating o'er,
she shall press, ah nevermore!
Then methought the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor.
"Wretch," I cried, "thy God hath lent thee-by these angels he hathe sent thee
Respite-respite and nepenthe, from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
"Prophet!" Said I "thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!-
whether Tempter sent,or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted-
On this home by Horror haunted - tell me truly, I implora-
Is there - is there balm in Gilead? - tell me - tell me, I implore!"
Quoth the Raven,"Nevermore."
"Prophet!" said I "thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us - by that God we both adore-
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore-
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore."
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
"Be that word our sign in parting, bird or friend," I shrieked, upstarting-
"Get thee back into the tempest and the Nights Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken! - quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from of my door!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws dreaming, his shadow on the floor,
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on that floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordy name is on the Nights Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
But the Raven still be beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird,and bust and door;
Then upon the velvent sinking, what linking this ominous bird of yore-
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaut and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."
This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burn into my bosom's core;
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws dreaming, his shadow on the floor,
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on that floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

Fox Fairies
Fox Fairies
These fairies are traditionally very cunning and magical creatures. This is according to the Northern
Chinese Myth of the Fox fairies.
In the legend when a fox reaches fifty years of age, it will be able to turn into a woman.
At the age of one hundred years the Fox Fairy will be able to transform into a young girl and at one thousands years of age, the Fox Fairy will become a Celestial Fox and will have grown nine tails.
Most often what these Fox Fairies will do is appear in the form of young beautiful school girls. Studying in the evening and would seduce their College Professors. In the later evening these professors would make love to these young school girls and would find that the girl had disappared in the morning. But she woud always return again that evening to seduce the professors again and again. These Scholars, is what they were called back in the day, found themselves getting weaker and weaker, until one of them learns from a
Fox Fairies also lived invisibly with people in houses in old Beijing with a fox officials keeping watch
in the tower at the eastern side gate of the city.Families who share these houses with these Fox Faeries were to put food out for them and to not complain when they made noises at night or else the Fox Faeries would put filth in their food supply.
The Japanese also believed in the Fox Fairies too-
They called them Koki Teno. They assumed they could take a human form by entering the bodies of
mortals or by finding a skull in a cemetery and facing the North Star.
Note: These faeries could be always be recognized by their most feared animal the Typical DOG!
I hope you enjoyed this new Fairy as much as I have..
I found these Fairies to be very interesting. Also the fact that they come from Asian Culture. My husband is American Japanese so this was a treat for me! I have always love the Asian Culture and the great spiritual meaning they have behind their Culture, Family and Religion too. I found that these Fox Fairies to be in some way spiritual even though they are a very cunning and cleaver Fae too.
Note too that the images I have found are not mind; but I hope that
you enjoy the great artist that have created them.
