Arethusea the Nymph of the Fountain-
Arethusa was one of the many water nymphs who attended Artemis. As one of the Virgin Goddesses

followers, she had no interest in men. So when the river-god Alpheus pursued her, Artemis helped her out by turning her into a fountain. Alpheus, however, would not be denied, and changed himself to flow underground so that he could touch her.
In Greek mythology, Arethusa was a Nymph that was connected with fountain. Also
and not surprising she was a legendary associated with water in Ancient Greek times. As
the story goes that made Arethuse so legendary in the Ancient times- And how Arethusa was
transformed into a Fountain is a fantastic legend. It started with a lovely Nymph called Arethusa
who was a companion of the Goddess Artemis. Arethusea, like the Goddess Artemis and loved nothing
more than to wander freely in the forest, valley and Grottoes, enjoying the beauty of all nature. During her frolicking about in the forest Arethusa noticed a shimmering river during the course of her adventures and all Nymphs did
in the Ancient times of the Gods, Goddesses and Titian's. She decided to take a refreshing bath in the
cool water. Of course you must remember the times Nymphs barley ware anything but loosely silks that were loosely wrapped around them and nothing underneath. So it Arethusa probably just slipped off her silk wrap and dipped into the welcoming water. Yet as the legend goes, as soon as she entered the river,
she noticed she wasn't alone. It happened to be the God Alpheius of the River and he was quite roused by
the sight of Arethusa. And in the legend it is said he fell in love with the Nymph immediately.

But Arethusa the beautiful Nymph wanted nothing to do with the passionate River God Alpheius. She was
just wanting to take a refreshing bath alone in the beauty of nature. You see, the nymph was a maiden of sorts and like Artemis, she preferred to remain chaste. So when the River God Alpheius moved upon
her, Arethusa fled the best ways she could from a God. However since Arethusa was a nymph and the

River God Alpheius advances were not going to be deterred it wasn't easy for the beauty Arethusa to get away for the River God. I is said in legend of the
Greek mythology that the River God simply assumed the form - Arethusa was a prey for him to hunt at his
choosing. Pretty arrogant I would say in my opinion, but that was the era of the Gods verse the Nymphs and it seems that in those days the nymphs didn't have much of a chance when a God had his eyes on you being a nymph, muses, or even some goddesses.

The Beautiful Arethusa Nymph did find refuge from the peruses of the River God Alpheius and that happened on the Island of Ortygia where she called upon the Goddess Artemis to rescue her. And of course the Goddess Artemis did rescue Arethusa by transforming her into a spring fountain. This is how the Nymph Arethusa became legendary with the fountain and there is even a very large fountain in her name...

I found a wonderful Celtic myth about the Fand faery queen.

It is a wonderful tale and I am sure you will all love this Celtic tale. Again I 
had a few problems with finding a few images but at least I found a few.. I hope 
that you all Enjoy the Cetic Myth of the Fand faery queen as much as I..
The story as I found has the basic tale but as I research i found that there was 
a little bit more to the story too. 
In the orginal story the Fand is a Celtic faery queen, who was once married to a sea 
God Manannan. After the Sea God Manannan leaves her she was preyed upon by three Fomorian 
warriors in a battle of the control of the Irish Sea. The Fand Faery Queen only hoped in winning
the battle thay she would be sent for the hero Cuchulainn who would only agree to come if she would marry
him. She reluctantly acquiesed to his wishes, though when she met him she fell as into a deeply in love 
with him as he was with her. Manannan knew that the relationship between the human world and the 
world of the Fae could not continue without eventually destroying the faeries. So he erased the 
memory - ok this part is a bit hard to understand...He erased the memory of one from the other by drawing his magical mantle between the two lovers. Fand was also a minor sea goddess who made her 
home in the Otherworld and on the island of Man. With her sister, Liban, Fand she was one of the twin
goddesses of health and earthly pleasures. She was also known as " Pearl of Beauty'. Some scholars belived that Fand was a native Max deity who was absorbed into the Irish Mythology too.
Fand is and still know as the Celtic Sea Goddess/ Queen of the Fairies and the wife of Mananna'n. 

Manann'an Mac Lir is a Sea deity and referred to as the first ruler of the Manx Nation and is and still very closely linked with the Isle of Man. Manannan Mac Lir is uaually associated with the Tuatha De' Danann. The Tuatha De' Danann is a race of the Celtic people with supernatural abilites. They had arrived in Ireland from four different cities in the north all the way up to Norway. where they had learned the ancient skills of their craft of the supernatural Magick.
