Aido Wedo - Rainbow Serpent of Dahomey Mythology

Aido Wedo - Rainbow Serpent of Dahomey Mythology-
Aido Wedo - Rainbow Serpent
Well In my quest of my love for the Dragon! I have
found an African Dragon. African Dragons are more like Serpents or Giant snakes, but
they permeate the myths of the African tribes and even appear in the Egyptian pantheon as
Apep [Apophis]. The most accessible of the African Dragons is the Aido - Hwedo (Wedo) of
Dahomey in West Africa. These African Dragons are a rainbow - coloured and that is true for
both the male and female dragons. It was said that they were brought into the world by the
God Nana-Buluku to serve as his companion and instrument tin his Creation of the World & to hold up the World or Earth.
There's more to the tale so I hope I haven't lost you, the Rainbow African Dragon was the only
being capable of travelling  between Heaven and Earth. And the Dragon was able to Carry the
Creator God in its mouth as it passed between the two realms.
The two realms that the African Rainbow Dragon passing through represent the
links between the Sacred and the Secular. So while in the Heaven the Dragon is bent
across the sky as a rainbow arch and its dropping became mountains and fertile soil, plus its
Aido Wedo Rainbow Serpent
living in the oceans with his troop of
Red Monkeys
writhing passage formed the rivers and valleys. It seems that this African Rainbow dragon
was so enormous that it could hold up the entire world, but once the multitude of creation was
done Nana-Buluku asked Aido Wedo to coil up beneath the land to cushion it.
Of course Aido Wedo did as he was told, because he was a godly Dragon, but only after a while
the enormous Dragon couldn't handle the extreme heat that was under the world, so the
Creator Nana-Buluku made the oceans for his Dragon to live in. Note: Like the Midgard Serpent in
the Teutonic Legend. So the Aido Wedo Rainbow Serpent Dragon lived underseas all over the
oceans with a troop of Red Monkeys who forge the Iron Bars that are Aido Wedo food. Now
When the iron run out and Aido Wedo grows hungry he will start to chew on its own tail. This will cause
the earth above to become unbalance, also to be struck by repeated Earthquakes and if not feed,
the eventually slide off the Dragons bake into the sea. Note; the Aido Wedo African Rainbow dragon
name is by many Aido Wedo - Aido Hawedo - Danbala Wedo
 - Oshunmare Yoruban and Aido Hwedo.
I also found that this tale of the Rainbow Serpent can be found not only
in Africa, but in Australian and in Central and Southern America too. There
are even some version of the Rainbow Serpent where he's not in the heavens
holding up the world , rather he flies from a waterhole to waterhole bringing
rain to those regions that require it. There is also the proble of the name variations
too. It seems there is a question on the God/demigod .. It really all comes down
to what you the reader think might be true or not. My thoughts are it seems
that the most info was on the African Aido Wedo Rainbow dragon and I loved the legend too.
Well I hope that you all Enjoyed my newest post on my summer quest on
finding as many Dragons legends as I can for my loveof the DRAGON!
I love you all my dear friends and followers very much
I hope you all are having a wonderful summer

Apalala the River Dragon who was Converted to Buddhism-

Apalala *River Dragon who Converted to Buddhism-
The Apalala River Dragon
Apalala is a fascinating Indian River Dragon that I thought you my dear
friends and followers would find interesting. From what I cold tell you, in the Buddhist Mythology,
he was the only dragon ever to be converted to a human religion and by Buddha himself. It is said that the Apalala River Dragon lived near the Swat River in India where Buddha visited often. Apalala was an Indian Naga Dragon-A greenish dragon like creature with two legs, two arm and a long tail. Apalala had no wings and a human head. He lived by the Swat river and was the Guardian of the source of the Subhavastu River.
The legends have said many versions and it was very difficult to find what I did find for you.
In one legend it tells that Apalala was unhappy with his life. And It happened to be that very day when
Apalala turned into a
huge Dragon causing
destruction to the
people of India
Buddha himself came to call at the river that Apalala dwell in. And the Buddha actually spoke and had
a conversation with the River Dragon Apalala. This is when Apalala was then converted to Buddhism
found contentment. As the tale goes Apalala was very Happy so in gratitude the Dragon began using
his charms to keep the other powerful dragons of the area in check and protect the all the people of
the India region. After Buddha converted Apalala to the human religion of Buddhism, Apalala then set out to teach it to other dragons, but the other dragons drove him away. However they still allowed Apalala to still
continue to teach the humans. As most legends goes this went well at first. The people of India were very grateful and offered Apalala the River Dragon a tribute. Sadly over time the people of India started to take
Apalala for granted and eventually even forgot about him.  Well this angered the Dragon Apalala.
So he turned against humanity and prayed to become a poisonous dragon, causing storms and
destroying the land of the people. From what I understand this is one of the more popular legends in
Buddhist folklore. The tale is often told to Buddhist children for them to learn their happiness lies in
their faith and not to take anything for granted. So there is a moral to this tale of the
Apalala River Dragon who wanted to help the people of India.. Never take anything for
granted as the people of India did with the kindly Dragon Apalala did and then he
turned on them into a deadly Dragon causing destruction and terror to their homeland.
I hope that you all Enjoyed this post about the Apalala River Dragon. I love you all
my dear friends and followers very much..

Blood Moon Dragon

Blood moon Dragon-
Hello my dears in this post I am going to through the the
Blood Moon Dragon
wonders of the lunar eclipse blood moon dragon ... In my quest to find
as many different kinds Dragons around the world/ for my loveoftheDragon!
Well the Lunar Eclipse has alot to do with the blood Dragon in many cultures.
In many Cultures Lunar Eclipses have a bad Omen tagged to it. Unlike with U.S.
who seems to are fascinated with the whole series of of lunar Eclipse that we have
had through the centuries. Even in Biblical Times. Remember on April 14, 2014,
we had the mark of the beginning of a series of a total lunar eclipses here to be seen
on northern America and some other parts of the world and many other place of the States too.
To some it was a message sent by the heavens to strike awe and fear into the  hearts of millions
around the world. That is, according to the to the beliefs of many past and present
cultures across the world.
In the Chinese Mythology it is believed that the lunar eclipse occurs because of a Dragon, a masculine
solar energy that consumes the moon. In order to ward  off the Dragon the Chinese Traditionally
made loud noises, by smashing pots and banging mirrors.
It seems that the Chinese did this up to the 19th century and even fired cannons into the air during a
lunar eclipse to compact with the Dragon/Blood Dragon. The event was seen as a bad omen, and a
coming of disease and famine if they saw the Blood/Lunar Dragon. Like in many cultures,
Woman in the Lunar Eclipse
I did find that they all had their own beliefs. In India they had a very strong believe and have been
extremely wearly of the Lunar Eclipse too. They saw it  being also as a bad omen or bad luck much
as the Chinese. In India they to had many rituals they used to protect themselves against the Lunar Eclipse.
Some of these rituals might be: bathing after the Lunar Eclipse, refraining from eating during the Eclipse.
Some of these traditions and superstitions are still practice even today in many of the countries I have
mention. I found that some of the superstitions in India and including the U.S are especially concerned
with pregnant women. I am not sure why but, in India a pregnant woman during the lunar eclipse are
highly advised to stay inside, refrained from doing any housework or that matter anything. What they fear
most is the exposure to the lunar eclipse could cause scars and deformities to their unborn child.. You
might be wondering if this all is connected to the blood moon dragon.. In a roundabout way it is.. :o
Blood Moon Dragon
Across over to Japan, they to have strong traditions when it comes to the lunar eclipse too. And again
they to feel it should be feared. The people of ancient Japan made the association with the many
earthquakes they would have with the lunar eclipse. They believed that the lunar eclipse would be the foreshadow of a disaster. Yu see Japan lies in one of the most seismically active zones in all the world,
so the association could have been made when a Lunar Eclipse coincided with an earthquake decades ago.
It seems that the observations may not have been that far off decades ago. And it might have been
not so much of a myth but truth for the people of Japan - you see there is now a scientific support for an
increased gravitational pull during a lunar eclipse. So the Japanese too. fire shots to try to stop the lunar
eclipse.  So far it seems that the Lunar Eclipse or Blood moon Dragon isn't your most popular dragon of
sorts... How we go into the Islamic Culture of the coming of the Lunar Moon or Blood Moon. However in
Blood Moon /Lunar Eclipse
the Islamic Culture when it comes to the Lunar Moon it is NOT! a time of misfortune as the other cultures
that I have covered above in this post. Rather in Islamic it is revered as a connection to their 'Allah'.
So during the Lunar Eclipse, the moon is bowed to and prayed upon, usually in a congregation. A special
Lunar Eclipse Prayer of the Islamic People is the 'Salutu-Kusaf'. which is recited in the name of 'Allah'. Their
Day is also generally one to seek forgiveness and act with kindness.
And the last Group would be the Romans. It seems that before any of these folks cultural Myths and
beliefs came to pass there was the Romans. It seems that Augustus died in 14ACE and the one of  the
events of this Roman death that foreshadowed his death was the omnipresent of the bad omen of a lunar eclipse. Yes even way back with the Romans and I bet even with the Greek Gods/Goddesses...
Anyway it also was reported that after he saw the disorder of the moon, many of the Roman Soldiers who
were on the Brink of the rebellion saw it as a sign too and decided to restore order and untied.
So there you have it in so many words of the cultures and what they all believe what the lunar Eclipse
effect has on each culture over the vast centuries. And what they all believe as what the Blood Moon Dragon is... This is the part of my post that you might find a bit more interesting.. In actually Scripture in the
Kings James Version Bible Revelation 6:12 [note I bought a Kings-James-Version so that I can be more accurate of the Scripture posts] 'Revelation 6:12KJV ~
'And I behold when he had open the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake: and the sun
became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.'
So there is the Scripture from the actual bible.Which says the moon became a blood. Its very interesting to me. I don't truly understand it but , its interesting.
To this day the Chinese still believe in their blood Dragon that lives high above the sky and even as recently as the nineteenth century the Chinese Navy fired its cannons during a lunar eclipse because of this belief.
I hope that you Enjoyed the New post on the Blood Moon Dragon
Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse

And that you all are having a wonderful Summer too.
I love you all very much my dears Friends and Follower

Mikonawa Bird Dragon

Mikonawa Bird Dragon-
Mikonawa Bird Dragon
Well my dears friends and followers I have discovered some more
new Dragons of different cultures that I didn't know about and I just know
you all will love. For Its seems that you have all come to love the Dragons just
as much as I. So for the LoveoftheDragon! Here is the Mikonawa Bird Dragon of
the Islands of Negros or Bohol. As far as I know Culturally they are from the Philippians.
The Minokawa is a Giant bird that belongs to the dragon family.
In the ancient times the people believed that this creature was so huge that it
could swallow the sun. Which would explain the occurrence of the eclipses back in the day.
It is even described as a giant bird named Minokawa that lives in outer space which can
devour the sun, moon and would try to do the same with our earth.
There are many different tale of the Mikonawa Bird Dragon - some say it lives on an island not
in space and others believe it lives just above the sky. Its feathers are those of sharp swords, the eyes reflect like mirrors, its beak and legs are like steel. And it lives 'outside the sky' at the eastern horizon.
They also believe that when the Mikonawa bird dragon enters the sky its covered by blue smoke.
There is a Legend of this amazing Bird Dragon of the people of the Philippians. And I thought you might
like to here the legend of this grand dragon Bird. FortheloveoftheDRAGON!
Before time began, very long ago as along dragons were the great BIRD DRAGON called the
Mikonawa Bird Dragon
MINOKAWA swallowed the moon. Well the people of the island of the Philippians were full of fear of course to see such a sight and therefore all the people of the island began to scream and made great noises.

Well it seems that the Minokawa Bird Dragon peeped down to see what the matter was and doing so he
opened his enormous mouth, but as soon as the Minokawa Bird Dragon did so the moon sprang out
and ran away. It seems in the ancient times of the Minokawa Dragon Bird it was as large as the Islands
of Negros or even the Island of Bohol. It had a beak of steel, his claws were also made of steel too.
the Dragon birds Eyes were like mirrors and each single feather was as sharp as a sword. It was said that
the Bird Dragon lived outside the sky at the eastern horizon, ready to seize the moon and after the
unsuccessful attempt of swallowing the satellite, its next journey was to haunt whom ever lives on the lurking
earth below. So the moon decided to make eight holes in the eastern horizon to come out of, these eight
holes that the moon made would go into the western horizon to go into because every day the
Bird Dragon would try to catch the moon ans she was always afraid .  If you think about it, the bird
Dragons was quite a terrifying beast to be chasing after you. And I could see why the moon was afraid and
did all that see could to stop the beast. Well on with the tale.  So when the exact moment the
Bird Dragon would try to swallow the moon, is just when she is about to come in through one of the holes in
the east to shine on us again. So the moon was save once again. If the Minokawa Bird Dragon were to swallow the moon , and the sun too, he
would then come down to earth and gulp down men/women and children too.  But when the moon is
in the belly of the huge bird Dragon and the sky is dark, then all the Bagobo people will scream and
cry, and beat gongs because they fear they will be all eaten. Soon this racket and noise makes the
Minokawa Bird Dragon look down and when he does that ' 'Open his mouth to hear the sound' Then the moon jumps out of the Bird Dragons mouth and runs away.. That is the legend ot the Moon, the
Bird Dragon Mikonawa and the people of the Philippians Islands.
Well that is the interesting and fasinating Mikonawa Bird Dragon in my
Quest to find more different Dragons for my lovefortheDRAGON!
I love you all very much my dears friend & followers I hope you all are
well and are having a wonderful summer. I do miss you all and hope to see you all soon .
Love you Hugs
