Bizarre Ocean Creatures of the World

Bizarre Ocean Creatures~
Good Evening my dear friends & followers, I hope that you all  are having a
wonderful evening this fine Sunday night. I thought I would give you a fun and
interesting post for the end of the night
love you all very much
~YOUR WENDY ~
The-Hatchetfish

The Hatchetfish~
Given the extreme depths to which scientists must go to find these frightful–and tiny–fish, little is known about the hatchetfish. A prime source of worldwide model envy, the morose-looking creatures derive their name from how razor-thin they are, no extreme dieting required.Anatomically speaking, the hatchetfish’s silver-colored thorax resembles a hatchet’s blade.
Its name is somewhat deceiving, though; measuring a mere one to five inches in length, the hatchetfish is hardly imposing, let alone deadly. It’s just, well, pretty terrifying to look at.
The marine hatchetfish is endowed with bioluminescent properties, which allow it to evade predators lurking in the depths below.
If you absolutely must see one for yourself, you’ll need to slip on your scuba gear and head to the Pacific, Indian or Atlantic Oceans and swim at least 50 meters below the oceans’ surface, as that’s where the hatchetfish calls home.
The Blobfish~
The Blobfish
More gelatinous than your grandma’s pudding, the blobfish’s strikingly jiggly appearance has captivated the attention of millions over the past several years. So unmistakable is the finned jello mold that it was deemed the world’s ugliest animal in 2013. Why such a flabby appearance? As the blowfish calls the high water-pressured bottom of the ocean home, its skin has become about as dense as water over time.
You might think that the blobfish’s lack of muscle tissue would prove disadvantageous, but you’d be wrong. Imagine a world in which all you had to do to enjoy a fantastic meal was open your mouth and let gravity do its trick. For the blobfish, such a sweet dream is a daily reality. When it comes time to feast, the blobfish’s lack of density means that it doesn’t have to expend any energy in order to eat. Instead, it simply opens its mouth and floats about, noshing on any sea critters that enter its path. Nice life.

The Fangtooth~
Consider the fangtooth fish the underwater equivalent of a supposedly menacing pitbull with a heart of gold. Despite its threatening appearance, the fangtooth is incredibly benign–especially as its poor eyesight means that if the fangtooth wants to make like a predator and hunt, it quite literally has to bump into its prey in order to find it.
The fangtooth’s chompers certainly paint a different portrait, though. An orthodontist’s worst nightmare, the fangtooth has the largest teeth of any fish in the ocean relative to its actual size. Good luck catching a glimpse of the sharp-mouthed animal with your own eyes: the fangtooth resides as far as 16,400 feet beneath the sea. For comparison’s sake, that’s about the length of 55 consecutive American football fields.
The Sea Cucumber~
The continued existence of these icky echinoderms is somewhat mind boggling. Lacking a true brain and any semblance of sensory organs, the sea cucumber is endowed with the same mental capacity as the food for which it is named. Nevertheless, the colorful cue constitutes a vital part of the oceanic ecosystem, as it breaks down detritus and recycles any and all nutrients that come its way.
Unlike the cucumbers we like to put over our eyes and into our salads, the sea cucumber is incredibly flexible due to its collagen levels. For instance, if the sea cucumber needs to wedge itself into a tiny crevice, its collagen will loosen and the sea cucumber will effectively liquefy itself to seep into its desired locale. When situations get truly dire, sea cucumbers can also engage in self-mutilation by violently contracting their muscles and expelling some of their internal organs out through their anus to ward off predators. Don’t try this at home the next time you have an unwanted guest, though; unlike sea cucumbers, your internal organs won’t grow back.
The Goblin Shark~
Deemed by some scientists as a “living fossil” and tragically overshadowed in pop culture by its flashier shark counterparts, the goblin shark leads a relatively mysterious existence deep below the ocean blue. The only extant survivor of a 125 million-year old family of sharks, the goblin is truly unique…and ugly. But apart from its most salient features (re: its long, flattened snout, protruding jaws and claw-like teeth), the goblin is relatively unremarkable.
Most scientists speculate that in the underwater world, the goblin shark plays the role of elderly next-door neighbor. Why? Just like your elderly neighbor, the goblin shark’s general flabbiness conveys the fact that it’s not exactly moving around that much, and further, that it doesn’t even need to in order to survive. Unlike your elderly next-door neighbor, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever see a goblin shark in your lifetime. While they were discovered in the 19th century, goblin sharks are incredibly rare and prefer to confine themselves to the ocean’s lower depths–not the public eye. In fact, when one was brought to an aquarium in Japan a few years ago, it died soon after.
The Flamingo Tongue Snail~
Shell collectors of the world, be warned. Though the saturated snail you see above bears a visually striking “shell”, the vibrant patterns aren’t part of the shell itself but rather the mollusk’s living mantle tissue.
Located in the waters of the Atlantic and Caribbean, the flamingo tongue snail feeds on toxic sea fans and yet, much like Bruce Willis in “Unbreakable”, suffers no harm. In fact, the snail only benefits from doing so.
The Angler Fish~
The angler fish is perhaps one of the most fascinating and bizarre sea creatures known to man. Not only known for its wily predation techniques (re: possessing a spine that grows its own glowing fleshy mass, which the fish wiggles about to lure in other predatory sea creatures that it will ultimately devour), the angler fish’s mating habits are rather unique.
When scientists first discovered the angler, for instance, they noticed that almost all of those observed were female…and that these specimens had what appeared to be some sort of parasitic growth attached to their lower parts.
Turns out that those “parasites” were actually just greatly reduced male angler fish, whose puny size means that the male angler fish’s sole objective in life is to find and mate with a female. Once they do find a female partner, male anglers quickly bite into the female’s skin and thus fuse them together–so much so that all that is discernible of the male angler fish are two globular growths on the female’s skin: its gonads. From this point on, the male’s life literally depends on its female host, as they share a circulatory system. And, well, just about everything else. When the female is ready to mate, the male pays his dues by providing her with sperm on the spot so that she might impregnate herself.

ProtectYourPosts&Photo's
Well for Sundays post I thought I would talk about what
I have been doing the last couple of weeks. Yes The last couple
of weeks I have been copying all my photo's and I mean ALL MY PHOTOS
WHICH MEANS PHOTO'S FOR  MY G+ AND FOR MY POSTS - EVERY SINGLE
POST THAT I HAVE DONE FROM THE FIRST DAY I STARTED IN JAN 1, OF 2013.
Why? Because of what had happened to me the first few months when I started
this blog. Where I had lost all my photos, posts, and bookmarks, and many
links that were impossible to replace.
So for today's post I found my old post that I wrote
just a few months after starting my blog
DragonsFaeriesElves&theUnseen
It tells of what I went through at that time in early
January of 2013. And I just don't want any of YOU!
My dear Friends & Followers to go through this.
I have copied everything on flash drives which is so easy to use.
So every photo that I have every use is on flash drives
and every post that you see from Jan 2013 to present is on a Flash Drive too.
After I show you what I had written that early Jan, of 2013
And if you have any questions on how to document your
posts or photos on a flash drive just leave me a note
on my blog and I will get to them as soon as I can.

 POSTED EARLY JANUARY OF 2013
Thankyou so much, for being so supportive during this
difficult time that I'm going through. Since my first note that I wrote, to let you
know what has happened to my blog, I though I would let you know what
has been going on since. I thought I would go on the
Internet to find some more info on anything about what is going on
with this huge hacking that has effected so many people including myself.
I thought it would be helpful if any of you had been effected by this
horrible hacking into personal accounts.
From what I found out is that researchers had said that some
2-million people passwords have been hacked from Yahoo, Google and Gmail
and other Large company. For me it has been my email and all my photos.
however, thanks to Google+ they were so wonderful and helpful it
could have be a nightmare if they were there to help and stop anymore
damage to my account and new Blog.
In short my Dear Friends & Followers I have been able to fix
my email, My Blog which is a big Plus! All my widgets are working order which
I am very lucky because I am hearing that some folks werent' so lucky.
However, there was one very BIG problem which was my images that
were on my posts on my Blog!
I know you all my dear friends and followers love all the images and
today I spent the entire day trying to figure out how to do image or get them
back on my post again, but for some reason it just wont work.
So I am still have alot of work still to do. I still have to do scans on my computer
every day to see if I find some kinda Malware.
I even found some activity on my history that I didn't do!
Creepy!
If you are having any problems at all! my dears please don't wait! Take action and save your laptops or desktops and your accounts too. I am very lucky to have a strong Internet Security System that has caught all the viruses, malware and trojans too.
I will back with my images, but until then I thought I would do just the writing part on my blog
for posts, until I can figure out how the images can be added back. This way you will still get all my stories, that I have written before. I am sorry about all this. I wish you all well and good luck too. ."(✿◠‿◠)˙•٠•●c Celibate life´Magic Surrounds Us ƸӜƷ ♪♫♪♫♪❤❤

YOUR WENDY

Serendipity 3, New York City — $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae-

Perhaps the most well known of all these dishes is the $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae at New York’s Serendipity 3. First created in 2004 for the restaurant’s 50th anniversary, the Golden Opulence involves three scoops of Tahitian vanilla ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla beans, topped in 23K edible gold leaf, sprinkled with a couple of expensive and rare chocolates? Plus there’s the candied fruits, gold dragets, chocolate truffles and bowl of caviar. It’s sold in a Baccarat Harcourt goblet with an 18K gold spoon, naturally. About 200 of these have been sold in the nine years since it was created. These sundaes require 48 hour advance reservation because the ice cream and caviar are flown in.

Nino’s Bellissima, New York City — $1,000 pizza-

Nino’s Bellissima is home of one of the world’s most oft-cited expensive dishes — a pizza that costs $1,000. As a manager explains , the pizza comes topped with four types of caviar plus some lobster tail for good measure. Order it a few days in advance.

Norma’s, New York City — $1,000 Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata-
There are two versions of Norma’s frittata for high-rollers: there’s a $100 frittata with only one ounce of caviar on it or the $1,000 frittata topped with 10 ounces of caviar. The latter is officially the world’s most expensive omelette, according to the Guinness Book of Records, and also involves one pound of lobster covered in egg on a bed of fried potatoes. According to a rep, the restaurant at New York’s Le Parker Meridien sells about 10-12 of the $1,000 Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittatas throughout the course of a year — and that same number per month for the $100 dish. There’s no need to order in advance.

Margo’s, Malta —$2,420 White Truffle and gold pizza-

An employee who answered the phone at Margo’s Malta tells us that the pizzeria needs one week advance notice to make its white truffle and gold pizza — only available during truffle season from October through May. As its menu indicates, the truffles are flown in from Piemonte and its minimum price is €1,800 ($2,420), depending on the price of white truffles. The pizza is topped with organic water buffalo mozzarella and 24K gold leaf. As the menu reads, “This is not just a pizza, this is a sign from God telling us how great She is.”

Fleur, Las Vegas — $5,000 FleurBurger-

Part of chef Hubert Keller’s inspiration for the eye-popping $5,000 Fleur Burger 5000 at his Las Vegas restaurant Fleur was borne out of competition: In 2005, Keller noticed Daniel Boulud had a burger that was $100 and wanted to beat it. So this Kobe beef burger comes topped with seared foie gras and truffles on a brioche truffle bun. But what really jacks up the price is a bottle of 1995 Chateau Petrus wine and the two crystal stemware glasses that the restaurant delivers to the home of anyone who orders the burger. So far, a rep tells Eater the restaurant has sold about 26 Fleur Burger 5000s and there is no need to order in advance.
Salvatore at Playboy, London —$8,633 Salvatore’s Legacy-

Salvatore Calabrese broke the Guinness World Record for the world’s most expensive cocktail last year with the creation of his £5,500 ($8,633)Salvatore’s Legacy. It’s also apparently the world’s oldest cocktail, created with rare booze such as 1788 Clos de Griffier Vieux Cognac, 1770 Kummel Liqueur, 1860 Dubb Orange Curacao and early 20th century Angostura Bitters. This cocktail can be found at Salvatore at Playboy, and a spokesperson explains that the cocktail is ordered with Salvatore’s approval. A total of three have been ordered since the cocktail’s inception.

Algonquin Hotel, New York City — $10,000 martini

Give New York City’s Algonquin Hotel three days’ notice and a $10,000 diamond-studded martini will await at the Blue Bar. A spokesperson tells Eater that the bar and hotel works with an in-house jeweler to procure the customizable diamond, which is then placed within the cocktail

XS Nightclub, Las Vegas — $10,000 Ono-

As Eater Vegas reported a few months back, the XS Nightclub at Encore Las Vegas has its own $10,000 drink, the Ono. This cocktail features Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie 1981 and Louis XIII de Remy Martin Black Pearl cognac — oh, and it comes with a pair of men’s silver cufflinks and a woman’s 18K white-gold chain with a black pearl pendant. Not too shabby.

The Fortress Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka — $14,500 Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence Dessert

The Fortress Resort & Spa in Sri Lanka offers its high-rollers a dessert that it describes as more of “a challenge for those adventurous as heart.” The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence is made with gold leaf Italian cassata, flavored with fruit-infused Irish cream. There’s a fruit compote, a Dom Perignon champagne sabayon at the base and a handmade chocolate carving in the shape of a local stilt fisherman. Oh, and it’s adorned with an 80 carat Aquamarine gemstone whose diameter “spans the head of a soup spoon.” The dessert costs $14,500 at DUO restaurant, according to a spokesperson for the resort, and orders must be placed a day in advance.

Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel, England — $35,000 Pudding

Chef Marc Guibert of the Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel in England’s Lake District went after the world’s most expensive dessert title in late 2011 with a chocolate pudding that costs £22,000 ($34,531). Shaped to look like a Faberge egg, the pudding is made with high-end chocolate, gold leaf, champagne, caviar and a diamond. It’s layered with champagne jelly and laced with edible gold. So far, a rep tells Eater Guibert has sold just one egg. The dessert must be ordered two weeks in advance.

Arnaud’s, New Orleans — $3.95 million Strawberries Arnaud

Arnaud’s in New Orleans no longer offers the $1.4 million dessert that gained it notoriety years ago. Nope, now that dessert is worth a staggering $3.95 million. Co-owner Katy Casbarian explains to Eater that the historic New Orleans restaurant partnered years ago with MS Rau antiques on a proposal package that includes their signature Strawberries Arnaud dessert and a diamond ring. While the original 4.71 carat ring is no longer available, it has been replaced with a 7.09 carat pink diamond to accompany the dish of strawberries served in a marinade of port, red wine, spices and citrus with vanilla ice cream. “Needless to say,” she writes, “it is our worst selling dessert.”
