Good Afternoon my dear Friends and Followers😄 Well, I am back-Yeah I had a most wonderful time with my family in the northern California Redwoods as I do every summer. It of course its always hard for me to say goodbye every time to my father & mum, but I know that I will get to see them next year and in about 2-3 years my son Kai will be at that age to when he will be deciding where he will be going to College after his two years in high school/community college degree. So then I can move down to the redwoods. But never worry about us I will always be here for you all it really doesn't matter where I am as long as my laptop is working... And as long as I am healthy which I am working everyday. Besides I would be much happy there with my family... I will be doing lots of post on my vacation of summer of 2016 with my 1000 photos and home video's when I get them together . I just got my home together and unpacked. We had a few doctor appointments nothing to worry about and I needed to pick up my meds. I to water my garden- when we got back it was 98degrees and I discovered that two of my favorites  were root bound. [note if you don't know what that means in the garden world... it means that the plant or tree in my case a holly and lilac purple were both root bound. and if you don't get them out of the pot they will die. So means is the roots of the plant or tree will either twist around and around into a ball and this will kill the plant/tree or it will try to go through the pot into the ground which means you have to cut the pot depending on what kinda pot you bought . My were huge plastic and not cheap. I was able to save both plants but not both pots. However, they are both in the ground. the holly tree was the one that had a long root that I couldn't get to so I had to kill the pot to save the holly tree. so there is a little 'Garden tip for the day'😃 ]

I did finally get the garden watered and its looking good. but my poor older body is quite sore. I have good new about my dads Moka and I will be posting about that too. But for today I thought I would just catch up with you all and just let you all know I am home and that I am sorry that I haven't written much for this month of July which is almost gone. for Aug. I hope to do better.
Today I am going to do a short post on the BAKENEKO CAT 😄

Bakeneko Shadow

So the Legend of the Bakeneko Cat comes from Japan as far as I can guess. And as the legend goes:
Late at night, a sublimely beautiful woman will be walking the street alone. As she passes by the light of a paper lantern, you will notice something about her shadow in the night that is just not quite human. In the flickering light of the Paper lanterns light streets you will clearly notice a shape of a CAT! THIS WILL SHOW THAT SHE IS A BAKENEKO!
So you might wonder to your self's - What is a Bakeneko? 
Well, it would seem that it has many forms but the most common of it forms is that of a Monster Cat or Ghost Cat. Its most accurate translation would be the 'Changing Cat' as that is the defining Characteristic of the Bakeneko. The word Bakeneko means to change form or to transform. In Japaneses language Bakeneko is written like so (化け猫). They have also used the word Bakeneko often as a catch all term for all the mysterious and magick cats of japan. And I am finding in their traditions/legends and urban legends there is quite a lot of them.

Some of the Bakeneko ability's-

 1-These Creatures are able to take human shape, or nearly human shape.2-Some can maintain the cat form, but they aren't able to speak human language or wear human clothes.3- Other legends have said, the Bakeneko, while in the cat-shape would put towels on their heads and dance on their hind legs. 4- They say that in legend of the Japan culture, there are much rarer humans who can change shape into cats, but which are also called bakeneko.5- It is said because of their shape-shifting abilities, the bakeneko belong to a class of the Yokai called Henge-or the changing Yokai.6- This includes other shape shifters within japan such as tanuki and kitsune. 7- Of all the Japanese magick cats, the bakeneko are said to have the longest lives.8- Of course there are many stories of a split-tailed bakeneko, who appears similar to the nekomata.9-
The primary difference between the split-tailed bakeneko and the bakeneko is the bakeneko has the ability to adopt a human shape; unlike the split-tailed bakeneko cannot.10- As in the culture/legends and urban legends of Japan there are other magick cats, stories of the bakeneko cat that can manipulating the dead or even curse humans too!

So in my opinion as I always state it, I would take care when it comes to cats of Japan. Be very careful they are not all nice and fluffy .... Some have big claws like dragons and scales for fur!!!!.
Bakeneko Origins
Lamp Lickers Cats-
So the origins of the Cat legends of japan, most the Bakeneko. Well, it would seem that most of its origins started from the Yokai as best as I could find myself. However, they say that the bakeneko cat legends all began with fish? Actually to me that makes sense. The people of japan eat a lot of fish and did in ancient times too. Cats originally are not indigenous to Japan, and the little 'hand-fed tigers' were imported in later years. These baby tigers if you will were served as house pets and rat-catchers. [Did you catch that not kitty cats - baby tigers! that grow up BIGGER!]
Most of Japan at the time lived on a diet of vegetables and grains, with very little supplementary meat or protein. However, their pets the Cats were fed leftovers, If you think about this cats were very much the carnivorous type and living is a place that had very little meat or protein as they grow, I could see how this legend could turn to a true legend of sorts.
Tigers don't do well on a all diet of vegetables and grains diet. When they are hungry they will take their protein where they can get it, without thinking who might be in the way of their food. That's a tigers way...Many of the households in japan had a ready supply without even knowing they had it.

Oil lamps as the time often used rendered fish oil as fuel. So to a protein starved tiger cat this was exactly what they would want and need. They would stand on their hind legs to reach up to the lamp stands to lick out the fish oil to fill their empty stomachs. The illusion of seeing their tiny baby tiger cats casting these shadows on the lamplight at night, frightened their owners, by seeing them suddenly elongate into legs as if transforming into a human. Well, I don't know what they saw and how they put a tiny tiger into a human instead a huge tiger. But of course this was ancient times... So apparently this is how it was established and the connection between bakeneko and the shadows began. The cries of the Cats have also been known to mimic human words and sounds. To an ear already disposed to think their little tabby is shape-shifting at night, imaginations were allowed to run wild and people heard their cats speaking Japanese.

Good Afternoon my dearest friends & followers I am so glad that you all have been enjoying my post these pass few months. And that you like to come and visit my humble blog. Without you all I would be able to stay here. For my next tale I found in many of my favorite dragon books-this tale about the Jade Palace is very ancient so it was very difficult to find an image for you. I did find some that were with the Disney story with the Panda Bear 1-2 & now 3 in the theaters. However I wanted to find something that had to do with the true Jade palace. After looking for about an hour I did find a few that I will share with you along with the tale. I hope that you enjoy the story. Wendy.

'The Jade Palace'

'In ancient china, there was a palace that was built entirely of Jade. Surrounding the Jade Palace was five cities. There was one centre city that surrounded all the other four cities and the Jade Palace too! Around the Jade Palace you can see an range of twelve towers that have nine gates between them on each side of the towers. There were also nine rings of smaller mountains that surrounded the Kunlun Mountain like it was the palace city walls.

It is said that the Kunlun Mountains are a haunted monsterious abyss, that also contains the Ruoshi River. This Ruoshi River is very usual water, meaning it was crimson in color. What this meant in those ancient times was that not even a feather would be able to float upon the usual fast moving crimson river. Hence it was often said that the only way for an mortal to reach Mount Kunlun was to ride on the back of a Dragon.

Hence then he or she could go beyond the abyss which was rings of fiery mountains which burned day and night. Also there was huge lighting clouds that burst over head. The cliffs of Kunlun were so steep that only the craws of a dragon could climb the mountain of Kunlun. To the northeast of Jade mountain was the beautiful Peach Garden. In this Peach Garden was an latter, so one could climb up into the heavens above. This is what the Yellow Emperor would do often, to refresh his spirits by visiting the enchanting Peach trees within the Garden.

Inside this amazing garden which was tended by Xiwangmn, the

Queen Mother of the West, a beautiful but often wild & capricious Goddess. The Queen mother's garden contains very special everlasting peach trees which bloom only every 3,000 years to bear its magick fruit. The Chinese Goddess/Queen Mother of immortality. In her Magical orchard of Peaches, she grows the most fragrant peaches that they can be smelled from miles away. It is said that her peaches has the power to bring peace to those who can smell them & if one is so lucky to get ahold of these magical peaches, it will grant you immortality. Just one of the Queen Mother's Peach Trees will bear fruit every 3,000 years [which takes another 3000 years to ripen]. When the Queen Mother Peach Trees are ready, it is usually held with a great feast to celebrate her birthday. At the time, all that were invited were all the immortals of the Gods to share her peaches of renewing their spirits. Also the Goddess/Queen Mother would make a very special drink of an

elixir from her magic peaches to renew their immortality. Well, this is the true story of what they might of

basic the Panda Disney movies on... I am not sure so don't quote

me on that. But there is a lot of similarity to both tales.

Hello my dears, Thank you so much for always being there for me and I pray that I have been
putting interesting posts. I have been trying to always keep my blog interesting with fantasy, Garden ideas and so many others too. I also like to mix it up with some more important issues too. Like this post that I am going to talked about. I heard a little about it on the news. How a young girl dis-own her parents & wanted them to pay for her medical bills now. because she blames them for all here health issue that she is going through now.
Its about this young woman Mariah Walton's who would like to see her parents prosecuted - Why? Mariah says in a very quiet voice 'They deserve it' 'And it might stop others.'
Part of the reason she is upset with her parents is that her lungs have been over come by her illness, & her respirator doesn't help her much anymore. However, Mariah tone in her voice is resolute when she talks about what has happen to her and her future too. Here is a little history about Mariah the young woman that I saw on T.V. I felt so much for the young girl and how here whole life has been basically taken to a life of permanently disability at a young age of only 20, I am 55 and I am permanently disabled but that is a lot different than 20 to 55 years. So this is why I wanted to tell her story and the many other children that have died because of Children die in the name of Christ. I truly don't understand this because I come from a very faithful family. And I just don't see God wanted us to make chooses like that. This is why God gives us the freedom of chose to do the right thing to help our love one.  And I Marah case she wasn't given that chose. Mariah is only 20years old as you can see in the image above, however she is very frail and is permanently disabled. The reason are do to her parents not taking her to the doctor as a child to fix her infancy small congenital hole in heart. If they had only did the prevented surgery  at the time she wouldn't be in the pickle that she is now. But they believe in only pray to fix her congenital hole and it would be fine. But it didn't and now the only way she has a change in life is a extremely risky procedure of a heart and lung transplant. So until the Heart and Lung transplant is found she is bedridden with pulmonary hypertension and has to carry an oxygen tank that allows her to breath. At times she has had screws in her bones to anchor her breathing devices too which can be quite painful. This could all have been prevented when she was a infant by closing the small congenital hole that was in her heart. It has been done many times to hundreds of infants with full recovery's and full successful lives as adults. It has been said that the success rate when treated successfully in later years is good too, only if its done before the irreversible damage is done. However, sadly in Mariah's case her parents were fundamentalist Mormons who went off the grid in Northern Idaho in the 1990's and refused to take their children to doctors. They believed that illnesses could be healed through faith and the power of prayer. Sadly Their infant Mariah grew sicker and sicker, Her parents world pray over her and use alternative medicine. Until she finally left home two years ago, she didn't have a social security number or a birth certificate either. Sadly If Mariah's parents been in neighboring Oregon, they could have been booked for medical neglect. However, in Mariah's case, as in hundreds of cases of other children and young adults like that of Mariah - of instances of preventable death among children in Idaho since the 70's, the laws exempt dogmatic faith healers from prosecution, and Mariah and her sister recently took part in a panel discussion with lawmakers at the state capitol about the issue. In Idaho there is one out of only six states that offer a faith-based shield for felony crimes such as manslaughter. Some of those enjoying the legal protection are the Mormon families just like in Mariah's case many of whom live in the states north.

There are also large numbers of children that have died in Southern Idaho, near Boise, do to the fact that these families belong to a reclusive, Pentecostal faith-healing section called the Followers of Christ. This is something I have never heard of, and have a hard time putting together in my heart that a parent would put their child or baby in danger, do all the gifts that god has by giving us Medicine to save our children and myself from cancer.
In the Canyon County, just west of the capital the section Peaceful Valley cemetery is full of graves, marking the deaths of children who lived a day-a week or maybe a month. Last year, a task force set up by Idaho governor Butch Otter estimated that the child mortality rate for the Followers of Christ was between 2002 and 2011.

After 12 Deaths in Idaho; Should Religious Exemptions on Faith
Healing be Repealed?

Well, I found another state which believes very much in Exemptions on Faith Healing-Idaho. The problem is it is also where 12 children are victims of faith healing. It is a growing problem in our country. In 32 of our states there is religious exemptions to certain crimes against children. I found out that 6 out of those 32 states allow religious exemptions in cases concerning manslaughter, capital murder & negligent homicide charges. However, only 6 of those states in the past two decades have had children die due to parental adherence to faith healing alone. Idaho has earned its own disturbing distinction: in the past 3years, at least 12+ children have died from easily treatable medical
conditions and that is only ones that we were able to discover. Who knows truly how many there are? The law, enacted in the 1970s after a series of high profile child deaths said that the parents can substituted prayer as a form of treatment, however if they are to use prayer, they lose their religious exemption if they do anything else to care for the child or children. 
This is what happened, according to Rita Swan, a co-founder of the Children's Health care Is a Legal Duty to Child group, the moment a parent uses another form of treatment such as antibiotics or even orange juice they lose their exemption.
Just because of this action it is known among the faith healing practiced  by their families, and all of whom were members of the Followers of Christ Pentecostal groups in Idaho have been buried at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery, A follower's cemetery just outs. A taskforce was set-up by the Idaho governor to find out an estimate of what the child mortality rate is for the 'Followers of the Christ ' between 2002 and 2011 and it was 10x over other states as a whole. While the Idaho legislators were stonewalling, the children of the in faith-healing communities continue to suffer. The older the child the more they suffered. According to the coroners reports these include a 15year old Arrian who died in 2012 after contracting food poisoning [which is quite common because of the teens eating poison berries etc.] She vomited so much that her esophagus ruptured and she bled to death. This is what I was saying that the older children have more pain.
In one Canyon County a report on the death of an infant called Asher Sevy we see the difficulty that

the shield laws create for local authorities. When Sevy died in 2006, a Canyon County coroner deputy attended by two sheriffs deputies asked to take the body away for an autopsy. According to the Coroner's account, the family 'were very much against this for any reason', and informed the deputy that she was not going with me or anyone else! and removal would have be done FORCEFULLY! 
After a liaison with the county's chief deputy and the prosecutor's office the assembled county officials decided to leave, rather than escalate a problem that could be worse than it was now. The conclusion? of Baby boy/girl Sevy? Well, The cause -of dearth? will go down as undetermined sadly as so many others in the state of Idaho in 2012. In the case of baby Sevy in 2012 the Autopsies are at the coroners discretion and the deputy at the time Bill Kirby did write that 'there was no evidence of a crime as to the death of Sevy' The incident is unsettling though. Since the death of Baby Sevy the county coroner Vicki DeGeus-Morriss who has been in office since 1991 has refused to speak directly with the Followers. However, Joe Decker, the county spokesman insisted that Vicki and other officials had been successful in building a better relationship with the Followers.{creepy} It is said that when Vickie first took office the Followers rarely if ever reported a death. If there ever was the Followers were always often uncooperative with both the Coroner and law enforcement when they arrive on the scene. It would seem since this case of Baby Sevy with every single death is reported and autopsies are almost always performed. It is a start for a very uncooperative group of people.
For outsiders this whole thing probably may seem very unsettling, I know it does for me! A lingering impression that exemptions from child abuse prosecutions have led Followers to form the impression that the law can be negotiated with? Sadly the local officials of Canyon County Idaho can't make laws, only enforce them. It doesn't mean that the local officials aren't frustrated at the effects of the laws. Even so, Campaigner like Linda Martin and Brian Hoyt are determined to not let this rest in the next legislative session.
There is a new campaign that involve a television ad campaign featuring Mariah who is at the top of this post. Its called 'Let Them Live'. by Bruce Wingate 'Protect Idaho Kids'
Wingate is confident that improved of public awareness will build pressure on the legislators. And they have confidence that his bill will be back next year.
'Its not going to go away, 'DEAD CHILDREN DON'T CARE ABOUT THE FIRST AMENDMENT'

Through all the madness of this and the loss of so many lives of children, there is a glimmer of hope.
A former member of the group is fighting for a change, along with a few select advocates too.
She was the one to urge KATU News to dig deeper into Idaho, despite the punishment of shunning from her church and family. KATU discovered that most of the children's deaths go unreported. The coroner- Vicki DeGeus-Morris, told reporters she completely stopped autopsying the children of the Followers altogether. However, one father apart of the Followers, Dan Sevy, had on comment to share after his son, a 14-year old who died from pneumonia in 2011.
"I would like to say, I picture freedom as a full object. It's not like you can take 'a' freedom away. It's that you chip at the entire thing. Freedom is freedom. Yours and mine."
Mark Jerome, the grandfather of a newborn girl who lived for 20 minutes before her death of untreated pneumonia, shared the same views..."That's the way we believe. We believe in God and the way God handles the situation, the way we do things. "Most of the children died from causes like pneumonia, sepsis and an 'easily treatable case of food poisoning." 
Some states, such as Oregon, held on longer until there was a high-profile death within 'The

Followers of Christ Church' in Oregon City. It happened to attracted the attention of local media & over time the state reversed the course. As a result, several of the Followers of the Christ members in Oregon have been successfully prosecuted! 
In 2010, Jeffrey & Marci Beagley were convicted of criminally negligent homicide after the death of their toddler, Neal who died from a congenital bladder blockage.
Then another case happened in 2011, Timothy & Rebbecca Wyland were convicted of criminal mistreatment & the court ordered that their daughter Aylana be medically treated for the growth that had been threatening to blind her.
Then there was the case of Dale & Shannon Hickman a year later, who were convicted of second-degree manslaughter two years after their newborn son died of a simple infection.
Next door in Idaho presents a polar opposition to Oregon.
Basically it was harder to get through the state of Idaho then any other state - with these
Followers of Christ Church...

Even the Republicans, who enjoy an effective permanent majority in the state house,
are surprisingly reluctant to even consider to reform the state of Idaho. Last year, the governor's
"Task Force on Children at Risk Recommended Change''. However, religious freedoms must be protected but vulnerable children must also be appropriately protected form unnecessary harm and death! So an Democratic Legislator John Gannon proposed a repeal bill which he 'never thought would really be that controversial'.
Sadly the Chairman of the senate of health and welfare, refused to even grant a hearing which in effect killed the bill. 
Then there is the story of Brian Hoyt who lived in Boise Idaho - as a child in the
Followers of Christ Church until he escape as a teenager...

Brian Hoyt, who lives in Boise, grew up in the Followers of Christ church

Hoyt is a fit 43 year old male and lives now in a nice suburban neighborhood. As of now he runs a

successful window cleaning business that he started with only a squeegee mop and a bucket after, as a teenager escape from his home in Idaho - And the Followers of Christ Church. He had no cash & only a few educational opportunities. When they had a chat with Brian, his home was 

being renovated - what was once a 'barebones bachelor pad' was now accommodates his partner and his step-children too. Slowly Brian has developed the capacity for a family life, after a life in 

secret that he left behind. "unable to relate to families before for a long time because of his upbringing . He said he didn't understand the concept'. He lost his faith around the age of 5years old , when a baby died in his arms in the course of a failed healing with the Followers of Christ Church. While the elders prayed, Hoyt was in charge of removing the mucus with a suction device from the baby mouth or toddler. He was told that the child died because of his own lack of faith. Something snapped that day and he remembers thinking 'How can this possibly be God's work?'

His apostasy set up lifelong conflicts with his parents and the Church elders.

In just one incident when Brian was just 12years old - He had broken his ankle during a wrestling

tryout. Brian ended up shattering two bones in his foot. His parents approached the situation with the usual Followers remedies - rubbing the injury with rancid olive oil and having him swing on Kosher wine. Intermittently, they would have him attempt to walk. Each time, his body would just go into shock and I would pass out. Later Brian would wake up to his step-dad, uncles and the other elders of the church kicking me and beating me, calling me a fag, because I didn't have enough faith to let God come in to heal me, while my mom and Aunts were sitting there watching. That's what you call faith healing? He had so much time off with the untreated fracture that his school demanded a medical

certificate to cover the absence. Forced to take him to a doctor, his mother spent most of the consultation accusing the doctor of being a pedophile. He was given a cast and medication but

immediately upon returning home, the medication was flushed down the toilet, leaving him with

no pain relief. His second walking cast was quickly cut off by male relatives at home with a circular saw. Other people who have left the group, such as Linda Martin, told similar tales of coercion, failed healing using only rancid olive oil and a high level of infant mortality, isolation and secrecy is their key to their faith of their church and practises. Violence was the reason he left home at a young age, even though he had no money or no where to go. In the Church of Christ they believe that 'Death from untreated illness are attributed to 'God's will. Their lives are dominated by God's will.''  

Both Hoyt & his friend Martin have lobbied to change the laws in Idaho. Martin devoting years of patient research to documenting deaths and other church activities. Hoyt has faced harassment online, at his new home. Also church members have even tried to undermine his new business too! So far Hoyt & Martins testimonies of abuse have not convinced Idaho's Republican legislators.

One of the Idaho Republican Senators Heider have described the Followers of Christ as

'very nice people'. In my opinion, how are they going to get anywhere if the government of Idaho isn't standing for the innocent Children that have no voice. There is a Child advocate and a author 

Janet Heimlich who have campaigned against exemptions around the country. As I read more about the bill, I found that Senator Heider told Heimlich that before the legislative session began that he would carry the bill and help with the production of a draft, however by the time the session began in October, Senator Heider indicated that no bill would be passed or even heard at this time. [ How do we trust the Senator's of the legislative if they don't follow through with their lies?]

This is what happen next sadly...

After telling the... [The Guardian-Linda Martin/ Brian Hoyt+] that no bill was going to be lodged [John Gannon confirmed this that he did, what he was suppose to report in local media in February] that he had been told by the Canyon County prosecuting attorney that the laws did not need to change [both men deny saying this] Senator Heider took refuge in the US Constitution. 'Republicans didn't feel that the need to change the laws. We believe in the first amendment to the constitution. I don't think that states have a right to interfere in religions.' YUKI ONNA THE SNOW WOMAN

YUKI ONNA-THE SNOW WOMAN-

Good afternoon, my dears. I hope that you all are having a lovely afternoon. For today
My dear friends, followers, supporters and reads. I am going to bring you into the world of the very well known Japanese Yuki Onna - The Snow Woman. The Yuki Onna beside being known as the Snow Woman is also sometimes unknown as Yokai. It would seem that there is no single story about the Yuki Onna. She is actually from a dread Snow Vampire of the mountains to a loving bride and mother. She has played many roles over the thousands of centuries. One that is most popular is an ephemeral as a windblown mist or snow, which is impossible to hold on to anything if you happen to be in that snowstorm.
So you all might wonder What Yuki Onna Mean?
Well, I will try to explain as best as I can. It would seem that the only thing that is easy about the Snow Woman is to say her name Yuki Onna. It is as straightforward as her icy companion, the Taurara Onna - The Icicle Woman. Yet the more I get into explaining it, it really isn't that easy unless you know the language of Japanese. 
As far as the Yuki Onna in the native language in Japanese - She uses the 
Kanji- 雪[yuki-snow]+女[onna-woman] which means Snow Woman.
Anywhere there are Ice & Snow in Japan, which there is alot come the winter time, you will find many legends of the Yuki Onna. Often these Yuki Onna are called many different names in some regional variations. Here are a few that I found, that I hope

I found that in the legend of the Snow Woman - Yuki Onna there are many variations 
That can be used in this legend. In almost all ancient tales of the Yuki Onna there is a 
Female snow monster.

What a Yuki Onna might look Like?'

Well, since she has many names, over the many centuries. Also, she is known 
As the Icicle Women, the Snow Women & Snow Vampire too! The thing about these 
 Snow-Ghost-Woman, they all have the ability to change their appearance at will. 
What I mean by this is, she can resemble a classic Yurei - with snow-white skin and a white kimono. The Kimono is usually described as very thin. Much like the summer Kimono's that the women ware in the spring & summer. The thing is, these summer Kimono's are far too light for the freezing winter weather that they have in Japan. Many of the tales & legends of the Snow Women in these thin summer kimono's are so pale that they can be translucent, which usually exposes their very white skin underneath. Sometimes it may even show everything underneath. However, the biggest variations in the Ghost-Snow-Women appearance is their age & their hair too. In most tales of these Yuki Onna - is a preternaturally beautiful young woman, with dark black hair that offsets the whiteness of her skins and thin kimono. However, in her first known appearance- 

In Sogi Shokoku Monogatari-
宗祇諸国物語- Sogi's Tales of Many Lands - she is described-as having white hair that matches the rest of her bone white appearance. There are other tales of the Yuki Onna that further, 
Confuse, her with the Yurel. She is said to leave no footprints when she treads along the depths of the snowy hills. This can lead to another type of tales like that of the footless Yuki Onna. This is what you call mimicking the footless Yurel. hummm.
How the next Question is' When & Where do Yuki Onna Appear?
Not surprisingly, most Yuki Onna tales come from Tohoku, which is a place in Japan in the north that freezes/frozen every winter. These Snow Ghost come mostly from Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi & Yamagata. Also Nagano & Nigata too. However, they are not restricted to just those areas of the north of the frozen areas. Yuki Onna appears as far south as Ehime, Tottori, Fukui, Gifu, Nara & Toyama prefectures. There are few prefectures in Japan without at least on a tale about the ghost of Yuki Onna - for the exception of Okinawa and maybe Hokkaido.

Also, when they appear there seem to be different tales in Japanese culture. In the Aomori & Iwate, the Yuki Onna may appear during the Koshogatsu- 小正月. Means 'Little New Years'. Koshogatsu, takes place on January 15th & was the traditional end of the New Year's festivities. Then the Yuki Onna arrives on News Years Day and leaves on the 1st of Feburary. It would seem that the link between these two dates [January 15th- Feburary 1st] has quite a bit to do with the tale of Yuki Onna. These dates and the Yuki Onna are obscure in Japan on these dates for centuries. Some have said in ancient times the Yuki Onna was worshiped as a Toshigami-歳神, a special deity that appeared on specific days and brought either good or bad Forture for the coming new year. There are even some that think that Yuki Onna may be a servant to
The Mountain God-山神-playing the role of Miko/of the
Shrine Maiden that brings blessings of fertility and good harvest. Others have said that the Yuki Onna will appear only during the first full moon- only full moons with the new fallen Snow. It is said in Japan that mothers are warned not to let their children out to play on these such nights no matter how much they ask. Many of children and teens have disappeared on these special nights of the Yuki Onna so it would be best to listen to these warnings. Still yet many have disappeared within the blizzards never to be seen again.
Although it is said she is thought to be an ancient legend. However, its, said that a writer  In the Muromachi period 1333-1573 had written about this legend. It happened to the Monk Sogi who wrote of his travels in Echigo, when he said that his encounter with a Yuki Onna.
'This is his story- Sogi writes that he went out of his house one snowy morning and he saw

a beautiful and very unusual woman standing in his frozen garden. As he looked at her, she seemed enormous,  which was very curious to the monk. As he looked carefully not to disturb the Ghost creature, he figures she was almost 10 feet tall or higher, with skin that was whiter than any human being. As he looks, she seems very young and beautiful, her hair was stark white and hung loosely about her shoulder almost to the back of her knees. Her kimono was white to the point of being translucent and was made of some magical gossamer fabric that clung to her body. Sogi attempted to speak to her, but she vanished into the snow. The monk Sogi told the vision later to a friend that was native to the region. After telling of his experience of his friend, he was told that she was the Spirit of Snow-雪の精霊-yuki no seirel who normally appeared during heavy .Snowfalls It was rare for her to appear on the cusp of spring.
