Nine Tailed Fox Japanese Myth Creature-

Nine Tailed Fox Japanese Mythical Creature-
Kitsune-
I thought I would do another Mythical Creature on the
Japanese Culture, do to that my son has been playing one of his favorite
Video Game of Naruto facing Evil version of Nine Tails
Video Games Naruto who faces the Creature both as a
newborn with his parents/ and later as a
young boy to learns to defeat the Nine Tailed Fox; basis on one of the Japanese Mythical Creatures, but I thought there was much more
to that Mythical Creature than that. So I decided to do a post on this interesting Japanese Mythical Creature-
The Creature is the Nine Tailed Fox in the Japanese Culture:
In Asian mythology the Nine tailed fox is described as being a cunning creature. It is said it will grow
nine tails as it ages. The ninth tail is the highest number of tails that the fox can grow.
In the Culture it is said, that the fox has been known to been a trickster by taking the form of a
beautiful young woman, like that 'a bride before her wedding day'.  It has been found that in
one account that the Fox transformed himself into a young prince to deduce a maiden. This was the
one account that was recorded when where it turned into a male. However, even though it takes the
appearance of a human, there is always something noticeably fox-like about the transformation of the Nine
tailed Fox spirit.  In some pictures, the Fox will trans formed fox will keeps its tails exposed. In others , the woman's shadow will take the form of the fox.
Apparently there are similarities between the Asian culture and the Kitsune.  What this means is
Kitsune from Japanese folklore and are Japanese Foxes
Kitsune are from Japanese folklore and are Japanese foxes:
A Kitsune can have up to nine tails, depending on its age, wisdom and his power. The only way
to kill a Kitsune is to cut off all nine of its tails, as it is said that one of the tails is its main tail and the
source of all is its power. So not knowing which tail is the main one, one would have to
cut off all its tail to kill it. It is said the One, five, seven and nine tails are the most common numbers
in folklore stories in the Japaneses Culture. When a Kitsune gains its ninth tail, its fur becomes white or golden.
Now a kitsune is also a shapeshifter too and will usually reach this at the age of 100years old. At this age of an 100 years old the Nine tail will also learn the ability to take on a human form, thus they have to be a fox for a hundred years before they can shapeshift from a fox to a human back again to their normal form the nine tail fox.
When he reaches 100 years, he can duplicate any other human being that he choose too. In other words he can shapeshift into the look-a-likes of many different people. This could be either male or female, but he usually take on the forms of the young Japanese girls, beautiful Japanese women and older men. This is what make the Nine Tailed Fox so dangerous. You never really know if the fox's spirit has taken over
someone you know. The only hint of the fox, on the persons body is so minuet that it is almost impossible to tell if the Kitsune has taken over someone you love. This is one of the parts that makes the Nine tail very dangerous and sometimes Evil.
The Kitsune are believed to possess superior intelligence, long life and magical powers. They have a type of
spiritual entity and the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit.
Zenko Fox
However, this doesn't mean that Kitsune are ghosts, nor that they are fundamentally different from regular foxes. Because the word spirit is used to reflect a state of knowledge or enlightenment, all long-lived foxes gain their supernatural abilities.  I hope I haven't lost you so far . I know this Nine Tail is a bit more difficult to understand than others Mythical Creatures. But I do understand that some of the creatures that i do may or may not be more confusing.. Yet in the end result I have found that it becomes a very interesting piece of writing:o)
Onward- There are really two common Kitsune. The [Zenko善狐]. which mean the [GOOD FOXES].
These foxes basically are benevolent, celestial foxes which are associated with the God Inari; they are sometimes simply called Inari Foxes.
Now, on the other side of the coin you have the [Yako
Yako Foxs
狐].
which is literally called field foxes, and also called nogitsune; These foxes tend to be very mischievous and even malicious, evil.
For an example, a ninko is an invisible fox spirit that a human beings can only perceive when it possesses
them. The Kitsune has thirteen types of supernatural abilities that he possesses. Besides supernatural abilities, they also have the ability to see and hear anything that happens anywhere in the world  Other supernatural abilities that the Kitsune include are possession  of mouths or tails that generate fire or lighting [ known as kitsune-bi or fox-fire], wilful manifestation in the dreams of others mainly humans, flight invisibility and the creation of illusions so elaborated as to be almost indistinguishable from reality. Some tales even speak of kitsune with even greater powers of being able to bend time and space, drive people mad or even take fantasise shapes such as a tree of incredible height  or a second moon in the sky. Some of the other powers they have & possessions they have are called
Kitsune balls or Star Balls.
Yako-field fox
These are what you could call Nine Tailed or the Kitsunes prized possession. What they are simply is a small white-gold ball of light if you will. It is in a since their life force in a ball form. And if you can get your hands
on a Nine-Tail or Kitsune Star ball, You would be able to control the KITSUNE OR NINE-TAIL FOX  AND MAKE IT DO YOUR BIDDING..
But with power there is responsibility, especially with the Nine-Tailed or Kitsune. If he is been stripped of his freedom and has lost his Kitsune Star ball you could be in serous danger. Because you could be sure that the Kitsune will get his star ball back and when he does there will be serious repercussions for you to deal with
when he has it. I am sure the Nine-Tail will become the Yako- field fox. Which is quite malicious & Evil.
Other Kitsune have characteristics reminiscent of an vampires or even a succubi and will feed on the life or spirit of the human beings that they have over come. generally through sexual contact.  Besides being able to feed of their human host, there are believe it or not Thirteen different kinda Kitsune/ each of these correspond with a type of Element too; Heaven or Celestial, Void or Dark, Wind, Earth,Fire, River, Ocean, Mountain, Forest, Thunder, Time & Sound, One of the most important things to a Kitsune is freedom.
They do not fare well at all! being locked away, and do not like to be forced to do something they don't want to do. Doing something like that would be likely to get you killed if they are freed [the Kitsune]. Kitsune loved to play tricks. They like
take things and hide them from people or just about anything to piss  humans off.
In some stories it is said the the nine-tail have a great difficulty hiding their tail when they take on the human
form; looking for the tail, perhaps when the fox gets drunk or careless, is a common method of discerning the
creatures true nature. although one must be very careful when one does this. Variants may also show when they take a human form through such traits as the coating of the fox's fine hair! the fox-shaped shadow or even a reflection that will show its true form. Other ways is in the face of the human females that they take as host. The Nine-tails prefer to pick females who have a narrow face with close-set eyes thin eyebrows and high cheekbones. Traditionally, this facial structure is considered attractive and in some tales ascribe to foxes in human form.
Nine-Tails have a fear and hatred of dogs even while in the human form, and some become so rattled by the
presence of the dog that they revert to their fox form and will flee.
Kitsunetsuki- what this means is literally the state of being possessed by a Nine-Tail fox. The victim is always it seems now after doing this post a young woman, whom the fox enters beneath her fingernails or through her breasts. In some cases the victims facial expression are said to have change in such away that they resemble those of a fox.
Exorcism, were often performed at an Inari shrine to induce a Nine-Tail to leave its host if its possessing someone. In the past, when such measures would failed or a priest was into available  victims of the
kitsunetsuki were beaten or badly burned in hopes of forcing the Nine-Tail to leave the body.
Entire families were ostracized by their communities after a member of the family was thought to be
possessed by an Kitsune.
In Japan, Kitsunetsuki was noted as a disease as early as the Heian period and remained a common
diagnosis for mental illness until the early 20th century. Possession was the explanation for the abnormal behavior displayed by the afflicted individuals who had the Kitsune within them. In the later 19th century,

Dr. Shunichi Shimanura noted that physical diseases that caused fever were often considered by the
kitsunetsuki.
This belief has lost favor, over the years, but the stories of the fox possession still appeared in the tabloid
pressed and popular media. One notable occasion involved allegations that members of the Aum Shinrikyo
cult had been possessed.
In Medicine, the kitsunetsuki is an ethnic psychosis unique to the Japaneses Culture. Those who suffer
from the condition believe they are possessed by a kitsunetsuki or nine-tailed fox.
Symptoms include cravings for rice or sweet beans, listlessness, restlessness and aversion to eye contact.
Kitsunetsuki is similar to but distinct from clinical lycanthropy.
It is said that other kitsune can use their magic for the benefit of their host as long as the human beings treat them with respect or its the Yokai Fox. Not the Yako Fox!
It seems in the day of the samurai. These families were often reputed to share similar arrangements with
a kitsune, but these foxes were considered zenko and would use their magic as sign of prestige. Abandoned
homes in japan were common haunts for kitsune.
The Kitsune will commonly portray as an lover. Usually what has happened in these old ancient stories is a
young Japanese male and a kitsune who has taken the form of a japanese young woman. The kitsune is usually the seductress, but these ancient stories are more often romantic in nature.
Typically what happens the young man will unknowing marry the fox, who proves a devoted wife.
The man eventually discovers the fox's true nature, and then the fox-wife is forced to leave him.
Although is some cases, the husband will wake as if from a dream, filthy, disoriented and far from home.
He must then return to confront his abandoned family in shame. And in the Japanese Tradition that can be very difficult. In some stories, it tells of fox-wives bearing children. When such a progeny are human, they possess special they possess special physical or supernatural qualities that often pass to their own children.
I even heard of stories of kitsune's marrying one another. And this is called kitsune no yomeiri or the Kitsune's Wedding. Which is referred  to a folktale wedding ceremony between the creatures being held during such conditions -Rain falling from a clear sky - a Sunshower. The event is considered a good omen, but the kitsune will seek revenge on any uninvited guest, as it is depicted in Dreams.
There is an Korea Fox known as the Gumiho. In another post I will cover this interesting Creature..
I hope that you will find this to be an interesting mythical Creature of Japanese Culture.
I found it quite interesting although it was a bit confuessing at times too.

Radha- Hindu Goddess of Love

Radha- Hindu Goddess of Love-
I thought I would continue my journey, with finding different Gods and Goddesses
of the World to share with you! It is very interesting to me to learn the differences in
the world of the Goddesses and Gods and hope they are either looked as in legend/myth/
celebration or even to this day Worshiped.
The Goddess Radha is well-known deity in Hindu Mythology. She is also known as Radharani in the
northern part of India, for her deep devotion toward Krishna.  Radha is usually depicted with
Krisha and Radha is sometimes considered as the incarnation of the Goddesses Lakshmi - the
consort of Lord Vishnu.
Radha is the goddess of love who was the most beloved of the god, Krishna. She is
the personification of love between humanity and God, as well as between woman and man.
In the Vaishnava tradition of Hindu, Radha is regarded as a primary deity who is often worshippedto as an incarnation of the Goddess Lakshmi. The Goddess Radha almost
always depicted alongside Krishna as his loyal devotee and celestial wife. With her eyes closed, she will
follow him wherever he takes her. Always trusting in him completely and giving up her own ego. Radha is both his devotee and his equal. Abandoning herself to passion. Radha-Krishna was an divine Hindu love story of Embodiment love- The love story became a legend in Hindu Mythology. The story is believed to have taken place in the Dwapar Yuga, when both the Goddess Radha and Krishna took birth into this world. How the Goddess Radha was a cowherdess who through her beauty and charm, had captivated the heart and soul of the Lord Krishna. Which then later became his beloved Goddess. The Lord Krishna is considered in Hindu religion to be the incarnation of the Lord Vishnu whose birth was predestined. Of course there is more to this love story. Krishna took an avatar image or shape in
order to slay the demon King Kansa. Afterwards Krishna returned to his original form and spread happiness
throughout the land India mostly. During the life of Krishna when he did met Radha and the two fell in love with each other, by falling in love with Radha and slaying the demon King Kansa he felt he had purse in his life and and fulfilled his mission by killing the Demon King Kansa. Yet Krishna still faced many problems in his life as we all do. So Even the Hindu gods have their own problems in live. But it seems that with the Goddess Radha by his side and the intense affection
that she had for him in both love and devotion, helped Krishna to overcome the problems... It is a very interesting the relationship between the Goddess Radna and Krishna, in that there are so many different variables within Hindu Mythology/Religion. I had no idea when I first started this post. Also the divine connection and love they had for each other. Even when I studied some of the pictures one can see the affection they had for each other. It was truly a deep divine love even not knowing the Hindu Mythology or Religion.
Radha in the Hindu Religion represents the true devotee in the form of both the male and female.
Lord Krishna represents the divine. It is said that the intense love that Radha had for the Lord Krishna
symbolized each of their devotion, passion, longing for the ultimate unification with God. Radha the Goddess has attained the status in her Hindu Religion because of the immense love and dedication toward the Lord Krishna. She is truly a heavenly queen of Krishna's Celestial World. Even today Radha is Worshipped like any other goddesses in the temples of today. The people of today in Hindu Religion remember Radha-
Krishna as one! Although I found that in my reading that Radha was not the consort of Lord Krishna, but
their love was what untied them for ever as one! Radha is an inescapable part of  Krishna and the same with
Radha. So the way I see it these two godly divine people, if you will. They are united in an god like matter in the Hindu Religion to bring happiness to all across the land. They are are nothing without the other to make it even more simpler ..
Radha symbolizes the human Soul as it moves through eternity, seeking union with the Divine.
I found this post to be both enlightening and very interesting. I never really knew much about the Hindu Religion, but now that I have done this post on Radha the Goddess of love and Lord Krishna I found it to be a beautiful Religion and love story. I hope that you all Enjoy the Post Too.

Eros-the Greek God of love and Fertiliy

Eros- Greek God of  love and fertility-

I am continuing my journey on the many different Gods & Goddess
of the World. Today I am exploring the life of the God Eros- God of love and fertility. I thought he might be an interesting Greek God to
Eros
do Since in Roman times they later called him Cupid.
Eros- was the Greek God of love and fertility or sex as some would call it.
He had a long history, of dating in Ancient Greece and that doesn't surprise me,
being that he was the god of love & sex.
Eros was one of the most important Gods in Ancient Greece. You may ask why?
Well its because he was one of the three deities who created the world according to:
Hesiod's Theogony: which describes the origins of the Gods-
'In the beginning there was Chaos' Said Hesiod, but there was three elements that coexisted; These
three elements that coexisted were that of- Chaos, Gaia and Eros. It is truly amazing in my opinion that
these elements were able to coexisted but, then again these were the Gods of Greece so they had away
of doing things that know one else would everything of. So back to the three elements of that coexisted between Chaos, Gaia and Eros.
Eros-
Did not give birth to other gods, but did encouraged and facilitate the birth and creation of birth. From the Chaos, were born Erebus and the Night and their children were Aether and Day.
Particular attention was given to the God Eros from the Ancient Tragedians. You may wonder why? Well The God  Euripides especially would separated Eros into the positive & negative forces/ as it can lead to both virtue and the misery  in Ancient Tragedians times.
Eros as Cupid
In later times, Eros was depicted as an overweight winged baby, if you can believe that! carrying a bow which he would use to shoot off arrows randomly, causing people and even the Gods to fall in love. Some would call him cupid at that time. Again according to the myth, Eros had two kinds of arrows;
1. The golden winged pigeons and the feathered owls. - These arrows with the wings of pigeons were those that would cast in the hearts of mortals and immortals, to stimulate erotic feelings.
2. Eros two weapons were that of darts or arrows.  And the tips have been magically treated to produce either with an uncontrollable love or insurmountable disinterested for the person that Eros sees fit to be the
victim after he shoots his arrow or dart at them. And the result being the wound of one of either I have described.

Eros-
Was, the Greek god of love and sexual desire. He was also worshiped as a fertility god and was believed to be a contemporary of the primeval Chaos, which makes Eros one of the oldest Greek Gods.
In the Dionysian Period, Eros is referred to as "protagonus', the first born., but there are many variations
to whom Eros parents might have really been and where. According to Aristophanes Eros was born to
Eros as Cupid
Erebus and Nyx [Night].
In later Mythology Eros is the offspring  of Aphrodite and Ares.
There is another legend that says that he was the son of Iris and Zephyrus. From the earliest legends of The God Eros it said that he is responsible for the embrace of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Mother Earth) and from
their union were born many offspring. As I have written in one of my posts the Titian Kronos. It was also written that Eros hatched our race and made it appear fist into the light. Since Eros was one of the oldest Gods, he was a latecomer to the Greek religion. He was also worshiped in many different regions in Greece,
at Thespiae where they had a ancient fertility cult and in Athens Eros and Aphrodite had a joint cult too.
Eros
It seems that In the time of ancient Greece, Athens would Celebrate with Eros every fourth day of the month. As to Eros each 4th day of each month was sacred to the greed god Eros. Sometimes he was worshiped by the name Erotes. He used this name to personified his attractions that would evoke love, desire, sex and this also included both heterosexual and homosexual allurements too.
Anteros - Known as the Returner of Love and also as the God of Mutual Love - was the brother of Eros. It kinda gets a little more confusing after I get into some legends on who the mother is of the two Gods of Love, desire, and it seems to me lotsss of sex! It seems to me the Gods love SEX! AND it seemed to get them into a lot! of trouble too. In many of the legends of the Gods, Goddesses and even before them The Giant Titian's. So back to the two brothers Anteros and Eros God of Mutual Love / God of love, desire, and Sex. Well it seems that in
Eros
one of the legends which Aphrodite and Ares are said to be the mother and father of Eros, but it doesn't say anything about Anteros. But that isn't uncommon in the Greek Gods - they have many children from many different Fathers/Gods Mothers/Goddesses. Nymphs/water, wood, river etc. and even sometimes half/god human ... or all human .. They were a very active group when it came to getting around if you know what I mean Eh! hheheheh!  Well after all Eros is the God of love and sex!

Eros is usually depicted as a young winged boy, with a bow and arrow at the ready, to either shoot into the
hearts of Gods or mortals which would rouse them to desire. I have said before earlier about his arrow types
Young Eros
Young Eros with his mother Aphrodite
but its always good to go over details on the gods tools that they are known for and of course Eros is known for the bow and his very special type of arrows and darts as some have said too. His arrows came in two kinds: 1the golden arrow with dove feathers which aroused love: 2and the leaden arrows which had owl feathers that caused indifference.
The poet Sappho summarized Eros as being bitter sweet and cruel to his victims with his two different types of arrows and his personality too. He was charming and very beautiful, but he could be very unscrupulous
Aphrodite Eros Mother

Eros and Psyche lovers
and a danger to those around him. Eros would make as much mischief as he could possibly could by wounding the hearts of all, but according to one legend he himself fell in love. Humm can you believe that!

How the question you all are wondering Who did Eros the god of love, desire, fertility and sex fall for? Well I will tell you! It is said that.
Psyche and Eros as Children
In legend, it seems that Eros was always at his mothers side assisting her in all her conniving and godly affairs. As the young Eros gets older while always assisting his mother is seems that Aphrodite became jealous of the beauty of a mortal, a beautiful young woman named Psyche. In her fit of jealousy, Aphrodite (his mother) asked Eros to shoot his arrow into the heart of Psyche and make her fall in love with the ugliest man on earth.  Eros agreed to carry out his mothers wishes, but on seeing Psyche beauty Eros fell deeply in love with Psyche himself.  So now you know two things you didn't know before Eh! Eros love of his life and his mother was Aphrodite who wanted him to kill the one woman that he fell in love with. Oh what a tackled web they got themselves into. Well Eros of course didn't carry out the promise to his mother Aphrodite and

with Eros even though she could not see him, until one night curiosity overcame her. She concealed a lamp and while Eros slept she lit the lamp, revealing the identity of Eros. But a drop of the hot oil spilt from the lamp awakening the God. Angered she had seen him Eros fled and the distraught Psyche roamed the earth in vain to find her lover.

To End this foulness Zeus took pity on the two lovers and reunited them, he also gave his consent for them to marry. There are variation of this legend but is seems that all come out the same.
lovers Psyche and Eros
Which indeed they did.  I hope you found this Greek God interesting as myself. I discovered a few things I

didn't know in this post. And I also found it interesting how sexually active the Gods and Goddess were in their day. Oh My!

her curiosity and see what Eros looked
