The Unari Elves-2013

The Unari Elves
These Elves are quite unique. They are a mix of the elf and the magic of the Unicorn, who's origins
are attributed to divine interventions.
They share the elfin passion for song, dance and poetry, as well as maintaining close ties to their woodland heritage with the animal. The Unari Elves are a peaceful clan of elf's but not pacifists and will take up arms to protect those things that they hold dear to them.
Personality ~
The Unari Elves are a passionate race and are born performers. They like to do nothing better than to entertain an audience and move others elves or humans to the point to great emotion. They are far more excitable than their cousin elfin and are nearly always the eternal optimists. They know only selflessness and have a very giving soul.
A Unari Elf companion would not hesitate to sacrifice himself/herself or and Innocent and would travel to the next life with a contented smile in his/her face to help this person in need.
Physical ~
The Unari Elves are not much taller than their elfin cousins . They typically stand about 5' to 6' tall
and weight up to 135-pound to 250-pounds.
The Unari Elf male are noticeably larger than the female and both sexes are covered from Head to hoof in very soft white fur. Their hair is typically ranges in hues from silver to white to gold. Most all Unari Elves kept their hair in long flowing manes. Men usually have short beards on their faces-
A Unari elves legs are jointed just like that of a horse and move and like that of a horse too.
Yet their face is similar to that of all the elfin cousin's.
Though, their faces are a little bigger & longer than most elfin clan's, they still have the same pointed
ears and facial features as their cousins. They also have a ivory horn that projects from their forehead that is no more than 3 inches long, but this all depends on how old they will get. Some Unari elf's  can grow ivory horns to great lengths, it just depends on their heritage of the Divine origins of the Unicorns and how long the elf will live. The Unari foals mature at the age 60-years old and can life quite long into many centuries depending on their life-style and environmental conditions.
They take great care in their grooming skills over the hundreds of centuries. These Unari elves have been known to live very long and happy lives due to their good grooming skills of caring for their ivory horn and the beautiful white, silver or gold flowing manes that they constantly brush and keeping their tails braided and clean. They are even known among the kin to be particular about grooming and keeping their manes and tails very clean and always braided neatly. They also enjoy clothing that is very loose and has flowing lines. This is probably do to the fact that they are half horse/unicorn. They also like bright and cheerful colors too.
Relationships ~
The Unari elves get along well with all elf's and can be usually found among them for they are highly
valued as performers and entertainers.
These Elves and half elves share a certain bond for they are both half-breeds. They suffered the same predigest as it is still in the year how 2013-
I found the Unari Elves fascinating and so refreshing. It was wonderful to find these elves that were both a peaceful, passionate, love of song - dance and poetry. And that they are a kinda divine elfin clan you might say..  In the earlier part of the blog I've mention that they are very selflessness and  giving souls . And would give their live freely to save another whether it being elfin or human.

Auric Wings

Auric Wings
In this Blog I will continue to talk about the faerie wings and the energy or light they have
Fairies aura's of light
within them~
Fairy wings are described by some people who have witness this delightful sight, as a wing-shape
Fairies orbs of lights
aura's of light rather than actually a physical essences. The notion of auras or orbs of light gained widespread notoriety among most humans across Europe and Northern American with the 19th century spiritualist movement.

They thought faeries were an aura, a subtle area that is surrounding the physical body, that only can be seen by those who are suitably attuned to the layers of colors and visual energy fields that is linked to other worlds and realms or forces of the huge universe that is never ending.
This notion of believe is both back in the 19th century and even today - which has inspired many writers like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who's uncle, Richard Doyle was one of the leading illustrators in many of the influential anthologies of faerie tales.
Sometimes and more times then not the aura of the faeries is not a visual one, but a flame, (candle

The Beauty of the Fairy
burning intense blue)this was a common notion in Shakespeare's time or a distinct scent presence.
In Cornwall an intense floral scent assails those who draw near a portal to faerie land, but its not always a pleasant as one would think.
The Nuckleavee Faerie ~
There are Scottish sea faeries called Nucklelavee which are a type of fairy found in Scotland in the Orkney Islands. It is as far removed from your usual conception of a fairy as possible and its name is still considered unlucky in some parts of the Scottish Isles.
He is a horrific demon of the seas, the Nuckleavee and a godlike horror
Nuckleavee Faerie
that will intangible himself  and can be invisible while he's in the sea. Once he reaches land the creepy Fairy Nuckleavee will take a different form - it took was a kin to a living nightmare and was described as either a horse, a man or a fusion of both in both forms. The Scottish fairy was skinless with pulsating veins and muscles exposed.

The Nuckleavee Faerie was gigantic in size yet its features were grotesquely mismatched with a head so horribly large it would roll to one side and its arms were so long they would drag along the ground. Plus his hands were monstrously huge, with a single cyclops like eye on its head and the horses legs he has had to be a kin to flippers too.
The Nuckleavee has a gaping mouth, that his full of rotting fangs and a supernaturally putrid breath that could strike living being dead or infect them with disease at any moment.
 The Nuckleavee Evil Sea Faerie
The creature is responsible for the black plague in London, famine, drought and much more.. According to the nuckleavee's power and his legend, he has a undying hatred to humanity.

If anyone was to use the Celtic harvesting of burning and harvesting of the seaweed in the Scottish Isles, this is said to invoke the Nuckleave Faerie's wrath even more than usual and in retribution the evil fairy would inflict the islands horses with a deadly disease known as mortasheen.
The only known ways of killing the evil fairy Nuckleave is with freshwater and the Sea Mother goddess of the Sea.
Being of Light ~
Aura's and energy light force...  Shinning or opalescence is a form of light.
Fairy aura's of light
These all come from Ireland's legendary race known as the Luminous or Shining ones for their Magical knowledge and Worldly Grace.
"White as the divine Snow in Moonlight" This is what a 19th century witness of a faerie sighting said.
Other people have testify to formless presences that show only as a whiteness, like some of the wailing Celtic death faeries.
Spirits of the Sea ~
These sea spirit faeries tend to reflect the play of light on the oceans
The Sea spirit faerie - Maori Ponaturi
surface. The most astonishing being is the Maori Ponaturi faerie whose skin has a phosphorescent glow at night.

Fairy Lights ~
Then they are the Persian Devas and Italian Candelas which are tiny spheres of lights who appear as a group of tiny twinkles after dusk. 'Like dolls' and one Englishman describing his faerie sighting in 1842 "Dresses sparking as if with spangles but not sold, rather light and shadowy.
Fairy light might be the most apparent in the

eyes, for many can tell it is a faerie by eyes alone, which are strangely penetrating and bright often described as more shinning than ours. Like burning fire coals in a pale visage.
They recall the intently staring illustrated in the wonderful books of someone who sees beyond the present world and other realms -
These are the people that really see faeries and know they are really are faeries and some even have entered their World ~

The Slavic Rusalka Fariy

Slavic Rusalka Fairies
As I continue my discover in the mythology & magical creatures, I've decided to branch out to different cultures other than my own. In doing so I have found the most fascinating creature. Some I have already blogged for you. And I will continue to look further in my later blogs. For this one I will be looking into the Russian folklore of the...
Slavic Rusalka ~
The Rusalka is a female mermaid, ghost, fairy, water nymph, succubus and a demon that dwells in waterways. According to most of the Slavic traditions, the Rusalka are usually a fish-woman who lives at the bottom of rivers, lakes and ponds. Then in the middle of the night the Rusalkas will walk out from the waterways on to the banks of the lakes etc. They will walk also the the meadows that are nearby the waterways and dance & sing the night away. If any of these Rusalka see a handsome young man or men around, they will lure them with their songs and dance. These Rusalka' fairies usually dance naked or with very loose flowing white or light colors long dresses which they are able to mesmerise the men very easily.
Once they had the men in their grasp, the Rusalka would lead the men back to their lake home's  to live with them forever. And the men would  never miss or know that they ever had a human family above the mucky waters of  the lake.
The Vila ~
The Vila are the Slavic version of the nymphs who have great power over storms which they take great delight in sending down on either a lone traveler or men at sea. They live in the meadows, near  trees to protect, ponds, rivers & oceans. They can also appear as swans, horses wolves and beautiful women and young girls.
They're also fairy - like spirits who live in the wilderness and sometimes in the clouds. They were believed to be the spirits of women or young girls who had been frivolous in their lifetimes and now float between here and the afterlife.
They to can appear as swans, snakes, horses, falcons, ravens, or wolves - that they shape-shift into  beautiful maidens that are either naked or dressed in white thin dresses with long flowing hair. The voices of the Vilas are quite beautiful and very luring to anyone who hears their songs - coming from their lovely voices. It is said if one does hear their voice they will lose all thought of food, drink or sleep for day on end. The Vilas beside being beautiful for their feminine charms, they are also fierce warriors too. When the earth shakes, it is the Vilas warriors doing battle against what ever magical beast that is trying to take their territories.
Another great power that the Vilas have is the power to heal and they have prophetic powers too! They willing to help humans (mostly handsome men) with their healing powers but its a very rare happening if it happens.
If you ever come across a deep thick grass area with a small or large ring - this is a fairy ring left where there was a dance. These should never be walked upon or walked over, as it will bring you bad luck. As I found out in my readings so walk with your own risk if you see one!
You might left a offering for the Vilas consisting of round cakes, ribbons, fresh fruit and small vegetables . They like flowers too, left at the sacred trees, wells and fairy caves.
Slavic Rusalka Female ghost ~
In the Slavie folklore of the Rusalka, this is where the female ghost or demon dwells in the lakes or waterways..
She could be considered a being of evil force. These ghostly figures that float about the dark gloomy lakes are the souls of young women who had died in the lake or near one.
The Rusalka is not invariably a malevolent but she will not be allowed to rest in peace until her death is avenged - This could be why these ghostly female spirit haunts these lakes. but according to legend most of these Rusalkas came to their deaths by a violent one so this is probably the reason why the haunting and sometimes turn into the darker more demon ghost within these lakes.
I hope you have enjoyed a bit of the different culture of Slavic Rusalka faerie... Wendy

The Mithero' of the Sea-2013

The Mithero' of the Sea ~
The Sea Mithero' grants life to every living thing, brings warmth to the oceans and calms the
storms that bring sorrow to many an Orkney family~
She is the force that affects everyday life of the sea. The Myth of the Mithero' of the Sea is possibly one of the oldest surviving strands of Orcadian  folklore.
This is an old Orcadian Verse of Mithero' of the Sea -
Bit luck thee niver noo in vore,
cin man hear tale o' Teran
Rampagan' on da ocean floor, Fur
folk ir little carin
Hoo tullyas or brullyas, Fowt wi'
de great sea - mither'
swordship gae lordship, Tae ane or else the tither'
   ~An old Orcadian Verse~

In all good tales of the Sea Mithero' the forces of good must have a bitter nemeses. Her powerful and Hostile rival is Teran, the spirit of winter. Teran's screaming voice is heard in the fury of winter's gales and in his anger can be seen in the mountainous waves that crash against the beautiful coastline that he destroys with his waves of foam and massive amounts of water.
The Spring struggles to stay ~
Each Spring around the Vernal Equinox The Sea Mithero' returns to Orkney to take up her summer residence in the Sea.
Her return prompts the beginning to the 'Vore Tullye', the Spring struggle - which is a fierce battle against Teran, that lasts for weeks and will manifest itself in devastating storms that curn the sea into a boiling froth...
The result of this conflict is a foregone conclusion. The Sea Mithero' has returned, refreshed and strong always triumphing over her terrible adversary the Teran.
Once overcome, Teran is bound firmly at the bottom of the sea and thus begins the Sea Mithero's beneficent reigns.
She immediately sets to work restoring the damage caused by Teran.
She stills his violent storms and calms the raging Seas. Warmth and life return to the water. Only interrupted by the occasional squall caused by Teran as he struggles to break his magical bonds set by - Mithero' of the calming of the Sea.
The Autumn Tumuft~
As winter approaches and the equinox grows nearer. The Sea Mithero' grows exhausted by her labours over the summer months and is forced to confront Teran again.
Breaking free of his shackles that had bond him thru the spring and summer - another battle was on.
"The Gore Vellye" or  Autumn Tumuft" - ensues.
But this time, Teran emerges victorious, gripping the islands once more with his terrible embrace.
His foe banished, Teran once again reigns~
He is Supreme and for a while every living creature must submit to his tyrannical rule.
During these dreadful days of winter, The Sea Mithero' Mother is able to hear the cries of every drowning man from their ships in the raging seas, and the only thing that consoling her is the knowledge that when spring arrives, she will return refreshed and invincible - and will  prevail again as it always been.
I hope that you found this story as interesting as I have. I love the stories of old Celtic flavor to it..

Snow Elves-2013

Snow Elves
Well I though I would do another blog on a different race of elves. These Elf's are quite different than  all the other elfin race. For one thing they are quiet rare and very seclusive
They Have an Icy History ~

The rift between the Snow elves and their cousins the drows, stems from the very same war (the Crown wars) that drove the drow into the Underdark.
During this time, the Snow elves were deceived into allowing passage for a larger profit of the drow through a mountain pass they controlled, not knowing this was happening at the time. So the Snow elf's claim that the drows were serving the Lolth and had recently declared war on their cousins elves.    While never formally condemned by their relatives, there has been a universally rift between them since the first Crown War. And the Snow Elves have been shunned by all their cousins due to what the drow had done to them.
Snow Elfin History ~
The Snow elves are the taller of all the elfin race and are the more naughty than all the other elves or
even the humans! They sought once to dominate or to destroy the human men who try to enter their Icy Mountains, Valleys, and homes. This of course emulating a hatred for the snow elves forever & numerous centuries.
During their age of seclusion, the snow elves have focused their studies on the fields of what would aid them in their survival in the harsh environments in which their fated they learned to dwell in.
Thus their magic is particularly the magic of cold
& ice. While they still work as clerical in their mountains castles & underground community's under the mountain castles - they still study their magic of snow and ice. They are Druids and rangers in the community too, that are prominent to the higher positions within their clan. All the while, the Snow elves have become more reclusive and secretive as the lowland societies have grown unaware and indifferent to the snow elves. Some clans of these snow elves have even died out but there are a few in-hiding in the high mountains deep in the coldest parts on our earth.
The Cold Clans ~
These clans were families that would live away from the mountains - Snow Elves. They would live in
small villages with dome shape huts. Dwelling in tight knit extremely isolationist families of clans of 3 - 30 members. Snow elves are very territorial and are hostile toward trespassers. There are other snow elfin clans, that live in small villages, consisting of 2 - 10 members. They are in dome shape huts of woven trees, covered with furs, skins and packed on the outside with layers of snow. Such villages house members of only one clan only, which lies generally in the center of these small villages.
Their territories average two square miles in size for each member of a clan in a village. These communities numbers of elves are no more than 30 elves and they can branch off into two more families.
In early spring some clans will branch off from the main group and set off in search of new territories. This would prevent overpopulation and starvation in a rugged environment that offers no bountiful harvest for very large communities. Such branching off is now very rare event within the clans now...
Snow Elves Life Style ~
The Snow Elves have developed classes as among themselves to help with running their communities

this would be either in the high cold mountain tops or in the valleys of the hut clans.
They may be fighters, rangers, druids, wizards and thieves. All of these different professions within the different communities whether it be in the high mountain tops or the valleys of the hut clans are at different levels of skills, in each of their professions.
These different levels have been given to the Snow elves as a tradition for centuries.
The Males Traditionally are often the most fighters, rangers and thieves.
The Females Traditionally are mostly the wizards.
The Druid's can be either male or female.
Snow Elves have no ability to work with metal, which is no small surprise as they use but dislike fire

and disdain all metal armor, including studded leather and even elfin chains. They prefer to ware leather skins or their own special made clothing which the Snow elves are known making in secret... They have the special ability to manufacture a strong and beautiful type of clothing that no other of their cousin kin has been able to recreate. This could be why they have been so secretive about it for centuries and even to this day!  What their secretive armor and clothing is: It's the hide of a
White Dragon.
No other elfin cousin's have ever been able to do this type of armor or clothing. Let alone manufacture it among the thousands like that of snow elf's during their time of great numbers. Due to their carefully guarded secrets to the curing and treating this type of armor of the White Dragon. It also gave them great mobility, with these white leathery skins from the white dragon in the icy sub-zero temperatures that they live in. No one really knows how they are able to retrieve a White Dragon in order to make their special clothing and armor. That to has been a heavily guarded secret for centuries too. Even up to modern day.
Druids ~
Only the Druids within the clans are taught the secrets of this craft of manufacturing the armor and clothing. The Druids are taught the special ways of treating and curing the white hide of the(The Dragon). And they have guarded this secret to this day even from their own kin.
All the manufacturing of the armor is done in their Shires. The Shires are also used for learning the higher type of magic and their kinda worship or Religion.

Snow Elves Society ~
The Snow elves have been said to be truly the purest of all the elves. Dating back to the ancient ones!
This could be, because of their lineage and history with the drow. Also being being so secretive and purposeful seclusion race from all other races kin.
They are the shortest lived of all the elves, on the average life span of 750 years being the oldest, but some have been known to live up in years to 900 to 1000yrs. This is considered incredibly ancient for a Snow elf.
Snow elves are the tallest of all the elfin race's. They generally tower over humans and all their cousin elf's .
The women will reach up to 6'4" height and the men can reach up to 7' in height, sometimes higher. Although tall, the snow elves a quite thin and extremely wiry and tough individuals . They gain dexterity and constitution but lose charisma when having to deal with all races including their own.
They have light brown, tan and sometimes very pale white skin. Their hair is white, pale blonde, icy blue, black and silver. Their eyes are usually deep blue but some have - icy white, icy pale blue and on   rare occasions there is a snow elf with deep black eyes.

They strongly favor white clothing and bone jewelry , which they will traded for silver in the valley's

below the snowing mountains, from the Valley Elves.
Yes, believe it they do like the Valley elves - Odd you think after all I've been telling you about these secretive elves but yes they do!
So let me tell you why!
The Snow Elves are best described as neutral with insufferably arrogant tendencies, with the exception of the valley elves, whom they tolerate and occasionally befriend. How isn't that interesting! I thought so... I mean they don't like any of their own race and us humans and now they seem to like or tolerate the Valley Elves but why? Makes me think I should do a blog on the Valley elves at some point.. I will have to look into that..
Well back to the Snow Elves..
From what I can figure out the Snow Elves have actively dislike all other races including their own and will go out of their way to make that fact know if given the opportunity -
The Drow incited was a kinda madness that came over the snow elf's and overwhelming odds - this
prevent the Snow Elves from attack any of the Drows. In my opinion, I feel that the drow had used some of their magic or black magic on the snow elf's in order to get through the mountain pass,
that would help them retreat from the surface of the earth. And I am sure there were many other evil dealings they thought up of through their queen The Spider Queen.
In addition to their characteristics, the Snow elves are
resistance to sleep and charm spells, they can move silently and can detection any type of a secret door. Snow Elves have developed several unique adaptations to their hostile environments.
All Snow Elves gain special powers that protect them from the freezing cold conditions. How? They can use their magic that protects them from the Icy cold chill of below 0 -zero temperatures and they can also use the chilly icy cold temperatures as a weapon too. They have the ability to set traps with a  90% success in providing food in their snowy mountain regions. I hope I've intrigued your curiosity about the Snow Elves. I hope that these beautiful artist images that I have found give the blog a more interesting look at the snow  elves too. The Artist of these beautiful images of snow elves and the landscape are simply brilliant and very talented..
I love putting beautiful art work with my blogs. We are very lucky to have so many amazing Artist in this world that can despite a world that is almost wipe-out..  Wendy

The Vodianoy-An Slavic Folklore Magick Creature 2013

The Vodianoy - An Slavic Folklore Magical Creature
As I continue my quest one finding new magical creatures I found the Vodianoy which is a Slavic magical creature to is said to appear as a naked old man with greenish skin and long hair. His body is covered in algae and muck, usually in black fish scales. He has webbed pawed hands, a fish tail and his eyes burn like red hot coals. It is said that he usually rides along his river on a half suck log, making loud splashes and consequently he is often dubbed 'Grandfather or Firefather' by the local people of the town, because if there are any local drownings in the towns it usually means its the work of the Slavic Vodianoy.
When they are angered it is said - that they break dams, wash down dams, watermills, and drown
hundred's of people & animals in the towns that are closes to to him.  (consequently, fisherman, millers and also bee-keepers make sacrifices to appease the Vodianoy - since they all work near the water)
These Slavic Magical creatures are also been known to down people to his underwater dwellings to serve him as his slaves.
I found these to be very interesting creatures as I found The Leshy - woodland spirit of the forest, that protects all wild animals and the tree's in the Slavic Folklore Mythology... I hope you enjoyed these two interesting Magical creatures that I have found. I hope to find more in the Slavic folklore in future blogs.. Wendy.

The Guardian Dragon-2013

The Guardian Dragon~

Well I thought I would try in find some more usually or more different dragons that you may or may not have seen on my continued love for the Dragon...
What did find about the dragon is, that in China they are concerned  along with the phoenix the most prominent of all Magical Creatures. I have found that in many Chinese and other types of mythology stories of the dragon and the phoenix. I am going to introduce you to the dragon known as the Dragon Guardian of the East-
The History of the Guardian Dragon~
Know as the long in the Chinese language, these creatures were often depicted with whiskers to show their immense wisdom and power. Chinese dragons are very kind creatures despite their great power and awe inspiring forms. In fact dragons are associated with the Chinese Emperor.  Even the color of the Emperor's robes is associated with the dragon. So you would imagine in those ancient times only the emperor and empress were able to wear the yellow robes signifying their royalty.

The life of the Guardian Dragon~
In the Chinese mythology, A yellow dragon presented itself to the Chinese people with a scroll imbibed with mystic characters that are the origin of the Chinese style of writing. These dragons are known to live in rivers, lakes, oceans and other bodies of water so they can control the precipitation on earth.  The Guardian Dragon was found in the East and was associated with the seasons - spring being the color blue, the element of the water and the virtue propriety.

I hope you enjoyed this dragon as all dragons.

As I do for my love for THE DRAGON!

The Blue Dragon-2013

The Blue Dragon
Unlike the friendly White Dragons who are quite taken towards the humans, the blue dragons are a very arrogant race. They are also know to be the most vain and prideful of all the races of Draco-Dragons. Just like their cousins - The fiery Fire dragon, The cunning & territorial of the green dragon and of course there is the cruelty of the black dragon.
History of the Blue Dragon~
Blue Dragons are know as storm dragons & are among the most vain and arrogant of the dragon race. The take great pleasure in wielding their powers, engaging in combat or lording over humans and other lesser creatures to prove that they can do so by their enormous size. Blue dragons are also extremely territorial dragons.  They rarely give intruders even accidental one's the opportunity to explain themselves what had happen before they attack.
Blue dragons are more likely  than other varieties of dragons to battle powerful enemies or other dragons over violate borders of their own or other territories they may want to lord over. This can prove to be particularly problem attic - given that the blue dragons are also more finicky about their environment or habitat than their cousins-
Blue dragons lack the cruelty of the black dragons and the ambition of the green and reds - Some blue dragons live as peaceful neighbors of humans communities or even on occasion of other dragon cousins which I find quite bizarre, after doing some of my reading up on the blue dragon. Being that they are so arrogant and territorial. The blues, innate draconic greed, blue dragons have been known to leave behind treasures they find unattractive, feeling that the presence of such a treasure would sully the magnificence of their hoards.
The true treasure thus is the magnificence of Blue Dragon Himself~
The Life Style of the Dragon~
The Blue dragons Lairs are usually in the Sages Mountains,  near the coastal regions which is the most precisely, areas for the blue dragon. They also prefer coastal areas with high cliffs over looking the deep oceans. Having a cave just above the high mountain tops with the pounding sea below is a perfect home for a blue dragon.
If a blue dragon cannot find a properly stormy region to which  to settle his home - he can make do with whatever terrain is available, as long as it has its own territory . A blue might locate its lair on a high mountain top in a jungle in the underdark or a very rainy deep forest. Anywhere except perhaps  the coldest area's of the arctic climates, but any blue dragon living in a location that lacks frequent thunder storms, is thinking that location is only as a temporary home, even if it ends up dwelling there for a few hundred years.
Ultimately a Blue Dragon finds happiness only in a place where he can regular be near thunder storms beating on the horizon and where he can soar between the clouds high in the darken thunder clouds and lighting and using his weapon breath of lighting...
The Blue dragon Lairs~
They are enormous stone ruins or caves in the sides of hills, cliffs or mountains. Blues enjoy taking over structures built by other dragons. They make their lairs as lofty as possible to survey their domains from great heights - Elevations makes them feel part of the storms that roll in from the high rolling seas. Even if a blue dragon cannot find a structure at a high altitude he will most likely choose a lair which it cannot be easily access from the main entrance - only by flight and no intruders on land can enter if not it being nearly impossible by a huge climb up a cliff, jungles, forest etc.
Their greatest treasures that the blue dragons love are mostly gems - particularly sapphires and other blue stones like blue diamonds. They equally admire lovey works of art and jewelry . Although such an event is rare a blue dragon might smell of Ozone-
Though the presence of the storm - rain or wind scent is also their too...
The Traits of the Blue~

The Scales of a Blue dragons are slightly more reflective than those of other dragons. A person could not use a blue dragon scale as a mirror but in blue or dark environment the scale will take on the surrounds hue it's in and blends into the sky or element around them-
The horns and brow ridge of the dragon funnel rainwater and other precipitation away form the eyes. When combined with a blue dragon's keen vision - this feature enables the dragon to see better in inclement weather than most creatures do-
The wings of the blue dragon are more flexible than those of their cousins, this is because so they can steer through the strong winds and boost their speeds, like sailors tacking on a enormous ship through thunder storms.
As I continue my love for the dragon, I hope the Blue has fascinated you as much as they will always
will for me. I truly believe like in my blog of the Red Fire Dragon, Green Dragon, and the White Dragon - that the dragon does still exist today. Wendy

Kelpie - Celtic Water Horse-2013

Kelpie - Celtic Water Horse
The Kelpie water horse is in Celtic Spirit especially Scottish, that traditionally inhabited the deep pools of the Scottish streams and rivers. They also will haunt the rivers rather than lochs of the sea. When a storm is due, the Kelpie would sometimes be heard howling and wailing. He could also assume the human form when he needed by, appearing as a rough shaggy man. In this shape he would sometimes leap up behind solitary riders, gripping them in his strong arms or frightening them to death. Although most of the time the Kelpie would would use his most usually shape that was of a young horse and  his favorite trick was to lure travellers onto his back and then trust with them into a deep pool. When the struck the water, his tail would causing a sound like thunder and then the Kelpie would vanished in a flash of light. He was also suspected of some times tearing people to pieces and devouring them.

(This is and old Scottish poem of the Kelpie)
Sad back and sad bones
Driving the Larid o' Morphie's stones.
The Laird of Morphie will never thrive,
So long as the Kelpie's alive!

Sometimes the Kelpie is said to be black but also 'Green as Glass' with a Jet Black mane and Tail. The Kelpie can also take the form of any form type of human, but it always has something of the water which gives it away. Like waterweed hair. In its horse form it might water near a ford to tempt a weary traveller to ride it across the river. It would look like a gentle pony, but anyone foolish enough to mount one of these Celtic Spirits would be carried off into the river and drowned.
Another name for the Kelpie on the Isle of the Man is the Glashtyn. Like all Kelpie's, the Glashtyn appears as a horse - specifically a grey colt. It is often seen on the banks of lakes and appears only at night.
In Ireland a faerie known as Phooka is also said to take the shape of a horse and induces children to the mountain. He is then said to plunged over the mountain with the children and precipice in killing them all.
Kelpies were also well known for stealing human girls to take as wives, never to see their families again. There is a story of a Kelpie's wife who manged to escape to dry land again, leaving the kelpie and their baby son. Although she wept to leave her child she longed for human company and she knew the kelpie love his son and would care for him. she returned to her family who were overjoyed  to see her again, thinking that she had been drowned years ago. But as they celebrated, a dreadful storm blew-up, with howling winds and lashing rain. Above the noise they could hear the furious screams of the Kelpis's. In the middle of the night, when the storm was at it's worst, they heard a loud thump against the door of the house. They didn't dare look, in case it was the Kelpie coming for his wife.
But in the morning the storm abated and they opened the to see what h ad crashed into it in the night... It was the severed head of the baby son.
Some say the Kelpie is not always male, but may also take the form of a human woman. In this instance, the Kelpie is often referred to as a Water Wraith and is most often seen clothed in a green dress. She is just as treacherous as a male Kelpie.

This is the one way in which a Kelpie can be defeated and tamed - The Kelpie's power of shape shifting was said to reside in it's bridle and anybody who could possess such a bridle could force the kelpie to submit to their will.  A kelpie in Subjugation was highly prized, it has the strength of at least  10 horses and the endurance of many more. But fairy races were always dangerous captives especially those as malignant as the Kelpie. It was said that the Mac Gregor clan were in possession of a kelpies bridle, passed down through the generations from when one of their clan managed to save himself from a Kelpie near Loch Slochd.
So this is the legend of the Kelpie horse - Celtic Scottish Water Horse.

I  found this Magical Creature fascinating myself. It wasn't your typically  Magick creature that I've have found. I haven't found to many creatures that were able to shape - shift and were able to change to both male and female . I hope that you all found this as fascinating as myself and I will continue to find more interesting Magick Creatures and find beautiful images from amazing Artists to go with these blogs for you Wendy

Sirens-2013

Sirens
In this blog I am going to continue my subject on magical creatures. I have always been curious with the mythology of the Siren. There has been two very different legends on this creatures in history.  I myself have heard mostly of the mermaid siren myself. But as I did a little research and I found that the mermaid creature of the siren is not your classic mythology siren. The mermaid siren is from a later period in mythology in European legend, which most folks are familiar with.
In Russia Folklore, the Siren is a bird -woman with the body of a brightly plumaged bird and the head of a women. It descended from heaven to sing wonderful melodies to the souls who were in a state of grace. This song would enable them to pass from earthly life and be received into heaven. It is clear that this siren ultimately derives from the classic Siren. I found this interpretation much more enlighten in a divine kinda way, then the Mermaid European legend myself.
Sirens in the Classic Tale
This is what I found out about the true classic tale of the Siren. First a siren that I believe was a woman who has the lower half and the wings of a bird. Some say the the Siren were turned into their current shape because they had been playing with Kore, the maiden Persephone, when she was abducted by Hades and Demeter, Persephone's Mother was angered by this because they had not helped her daughter, so Persephone Mother (Demeter) cursed them, by saying "Begone and search for my daughter the world over".
But of course there is another story and this one tells how Aphrodite turned them into bird-woman because the Sirens stubbornly clung to their virginity and would refused to submit to any Man or God.

The Sirens flightless because they were defeated in a music contest by the Muses - The Muses pulled out the Sirens wings feathers to make themselves beautiful crowns from their feathers. And this is why the sirens sing in a meadow among the bleached bones of the sailors whom they have lure to their deaths. They are first cousins to the Harpies, that live in a green island of their own. And when the wind drops a midday, this is the time that people are the most succumb to the sirens.
It is said in Odysseus great journey on his return to Troy, he wanted to meet the sirens, but he was forewarned by a friend Circe, who said, ' that you must plug your ears and all your men with bees wax on your journey so that the sirens cannot overcome you with their song.
But of course in this story - Odysseus wishes to hear their beautiful song. But did not want to succumb to it, so he asked his men to blind him at the mast of his ship and told his crew to refuse to untie him until they had passed their lands. for which you have to read up to find out the end of that story...
In old times they would carve Sirens upon tombstones as much as angels were. They were shown lamenting and singing dirges to the music of the lyre. But it is also possible that they have designs on the bodies of heroes buried in the tombs since the souls were believed to leave the body in the form of a bird and the sirens stood by waiting to catch the fleeting souls.
