Apalala the River Dragon who was Converted to Buddhism-

Apalala *River Dragon who Converted to Buddhism-
The Apalala River Dragon
Apalala is a fascinating Indian River Dragon that I thought you my dear
friends and followers would find interesting. From what I cold tell you, in the Buddhist Mythology,
he was the only dragon ever to be converted to a human religion and by Buddha himself. It is said that the Apalala River Dragon lived near the Swat River in India where Buddha visited often. Apalala was an Indian Naga Dragon-A greenish dragon like creature with two legs, two arm and a long tail. Apalala had no wings and a human head. He lived by the Swat river and was the Guardian of the source of the Subhavastu River.
The legends have said many versions and it was very difficult to find what I did find for you.
In one legend it tells that Apalala was unhappy with his life. And It happened to be that very day when
Apalala turned into a
huge Dragon causing
destruction to the
people of India
Buddha himself came to call at the river that Apalala dwell in. And the Buddha actually spoke and had
a conversation with the River Dragon Apalala. This is when Apalala was then converted to Buddhism
found contentment. As the tale goes Apalala was very Happy so in gratitude the Dragon began using
his charms to keep the other powerful dragons of the area in check and protect the all the people of
the India region. After Buddha converted Apalala to the human religion of Buddhism, Apalala then set out to teach it to other dragons, but the other dragons drove him away. However they still allowed Apalala to still
continue to teach the humans. As most legends goes this went well at first. The people of India were very grateful and offered Apalala the River Dragon a tribute. Sadly over time the people of India started to take
Apalala for granted and eventually even forgot about him.  Well this angered the Dragon Apalala.
So he turned against humanity and prayed to become a poisonous dragon, causing storms and
destroying the land of the people. From what I understand this is one of the more popular legends in
Buddhist folklore. The tale is often told to Buddhist children for them to learn their happiness lies in
their faith and not to take anything for granted. So there is a moral to this tale of the
Apalala River Dragon who wanted to help the people of India.. Never take anything for
granted as the people of India did with the kindly Dragon Apalala did and then he
turned on them into a deadly Dragon causing destruction and terror to their homeland.
I hope that you all Enjoyed this post about the Apalala River Dragon. I love you all
my dear friends and followers very much..

Sandman the Urban Legend

Sandman-
The Sandman Of Legend that gave
Good Dreams
Good evening & Welcome my dearest Friends and Followers to my humble Blog. I have an interesting Urban Legend for you all today. I thought I had done this one, but I had a peek on my Labels and it seems that I haven't come across the 'Sandman' just yet---There seem to be many different versions of this popular western folklore legend that brings good sleep and dreams to children. However, there are other tales of the Sandman that aren't so nice and don't give good dreams.
The Sandman
of Legend that would
give Good Dreams
Originally the Sandman was a character in the western world who would give sleep & good dreams to all children by sprinkling magic sand onto the eyes of children. He was traditionally a character in many children's stories, invoked to help or lull children to sleep[Helping parents to get their children to go to bed then fall to sleep quickly]. It was said that he would sprinkle sand or dust on or into the eyes of the children at night to bring on dreams and sleep. The grit or 'sleep' in one's eyes upon waking is supposed to be the result of the Sandman's work the previous evening.
The Darker Sandman
That would take
and not give.
There was another creature that bore the name 'Sandman', but this creature they called Sandman was very different & quite creepy so have said. Its skin is that of a dead person, decayed and discolored. It has very long fingers and many sharp teeth. This Sandman hides just out of sight in the dark and whispers, "tik toc, tik toc'' to its unlucky victims. This strange chant quickly puts his victims into a deep sleep. Once asleep, This Creepy Creature of a Sandman will come out of hiding and devour the sleeping victim with its sharp teeth. It only needs to feast once per night, but it will sometimes choose to kill for fun. This creature can only come out in the dark. It is said to be the evil brother of the Good Sandman, but some disagree. So what do yu think?
 In the Sandman
origins in ancient
 Greco-Rome times
the God of Sleep
It is said that the sandman's origins can be traced back to ancient Greco-Rome and the God of Sleep.
Scandinavian Folklorist Hans Christian Anderson Danish folktale
is another of the earliest recorded tales of the Sandman.
There was another Sandman in Urban legends of German folklore that was quite horrific they say---some have said he would steal the eyes of children who don't shut their eyes while going to sleep & then feeds them to his children on the moon. It is a very stark contrast to the Has Anderson's Sandman story. The German Fantasy was written by author E.T.A Hoffman in 1776-1822. Hoffman's tale, known as the Der Sandmann of 1816 tells, of a more sinister sandman who comes into the children's rooms, only at night, of course, throw very coarse sand into their eyes which caused them to fall out of their sockets.
The Der Sandmann of Germany
After that, the Der Sandmann scoops the children's eyes up and places them in a bag. Then takes them back home to the crook of the crescent moon where he feeds them to his bird-like progeny. Yes, it's a terrifying tale, but can you image the European children of the 18th to 19th centuries being actually told this tale by their caretakers as a warning as to why they should go to bed when they were told!  As far as today, the Sandman is still an important figure in the western folklore and in pop-culture, appearing in films, books, and songs too.
As far as the Scary version of the Sandman, it seems that there are a few filmmakers that are still interested in making unusual plotlines and visuals with this scary creature. One of these Filmmakers is Dario Argento who is known for his Giallo Italian Horror movies.

Dr. Theda' 'Hero Post'
Askings his followers to do a post on their Blogs
'Six Questions'
I have been following a dear Friend Of Mine[Stacey]
for a couple of years. He has an Awesome Blog!
I thought I would add a few of my Scary Gifs that I have

Question#1....
'How long have you been Blogging and How did You get into
it in the first Place...?''
Two Years since 2013... I began because I had been on the Ning Network
for many years...over 10+ and needed to do something different not so
demanding. Not to say It was like that all the time. At first it was
fun. But after the years It was getting more about the site then
about my own think. So a dear friend/sister too decided to leave the
Ning network and make our own blogs and loved ever since. I love the
freedom of doing your own thing designing your own thing. And
creating a place that reflects your personality without having a huge
network like NING. It also helps me with my health issues and I get to write
what I want and show what kinda image I want. My main goal is to
make folks have a happy time on my blog with good music and
fun stories and a place to escape from the hardships of the world.

Question#2
'What do you blog about and How frequently do you post...?
Well I mostly blog about - All kinda Dragons, Elves, Faeries,
Magical Creatures, Folklore Legends, Greek/African Mythology,
My Garden, Wendy Tales, Dragon poems, Stories of dragons, elves, faeries
and legend of all kinds. I also love to do posts of images of amazing
artists of the above fantasy woman, dragons etc.  Do movie nights and
Celebrate the seasons on my blog. I try to post as frequently as
possible. Although so months are better than others.
it just depends on what is going on in my life.
Question#3
'How does your blog stand out from all of the rest...?"
I been told that I [Wendy] Have a place that folks can come to and relax if
they had a hard day at work or what every day they might have had or even late in the evening too. My viewers have said they love the music with the combination of the stories, images, and videos.... I try to give the viewers
a place of enchantment with images, stories, and videos.

Question#4
'What's the Best & Worst things about Blogging...?''

Well the Best part of Blogging is the many wonderful people that
I have meant and become friends and have supported me during my good
and bad time during this last 2years. The worst, well that would be
the days that my depression takes over and I just can't do anything....

Question#5
Do you have any Rules for self-imposed
guidelines...?''

No nudity. I don't use any profanity at all. I keep it to my style.

There maybe a few images with elves with small clothing, but all

women & men are always covered. I feel this is important to my blog.

Question#6

The Huldra~

The Huldra~
The Huldra is said to be many different Legends/Myths the first one that I came across is the beautiful human looking troll from Norse folklore. These female Huldra trolls usually have long blonde hair and some were a crow feather around their body as flowers. The only thing that separates her from humans is the tail of a cow which is why most men flee when they see her.
She was known to seduce young unmarried men and take them into the thick mountains, where she wouldn't let them go unless they would marry her.
However, if a man did marry her in a church - In the name of God as the tales were told, she would then suddenly turn into a ugly woman, but return she would and gain the strength of ten men if not more.  She would lose her tail too.

Another Tale of this same Female Huldra Troll~

It is said that the Huldra is much smaller than that of the Jaette Troll. The

Huldra trolls are usually very beautiful blonde women and often
naked, most of the time. They look very human like - The only thing  that would show that they are a Magick Creature or Troll is their tail which they will hide. These beautiful women troll - like humans will use the environment of nature in which they live and protect to make clothes to hide their tails. So that they can lure men as a human female.
Their species have been known to untreated human males by their beautiful voices and their love appearance too.

Sometimes even naked to do their bidding or simply as mates or pets.
These Huldras will hold the poor males under a spell for many
many years. Sometimes males are released or some manage to escape and they can be often found wandering in the deep wildness, not remembering what had happened to them or the time that has laps by.If you are adventurous and want to hear the huldra's song, then you need to travel to a place called  Myrdal, located nearby Voss in western Norway. Then take the Flamsbana railway train. Remember to fasten yourself to a rope to the train, because somewhere in the
middle of your travels down the emerald waters of Sognefjord you will hear the song of the Huldra or even get a glimpse of one of these naked beauty's who will be calling upon you to come them. And you won't be able to stop yourself.. Sometimes the rope don't even save you.

In the legends of the Scandinavia, there is another type of
Huldra called
a Slattenpat or a Jotun Huldra troll. It was also called the Wild Hunt for these female trollkin. These Huldra Trolls are not beautiful human-like, in the above  described, of  the first legend of these Magick Creatures Trolls. The Slattenpat Trolls are best described as massive in size, hideous looks, with breasts so long and shaggy that she slings them over her shoulder to run faster. She has large pointed ears, brown spots all over her body, quite hairy all over and two horns protruding from her forehead.

Another Type of  Huldra; is the Scandinavian Elf Huldra. These Magick Creatures inhabit the Woods, Bogs and Hills. They are also known as

Skogsra mainly in Sweden and Ellefolk -Danish. These
Huldra's are young women and are described as stunning and very beautiful. Almost to strikingly beautiful, but they have a hollow-tree  trunks as their backs. Inside their hollow-tree trunk back is where twigs, dead leaves of even worms and maggots might live. You can even see the skeleton spinal cord right through their backs. This would make sense to me, why they are the Elfin Huldra; I believe that no other Creature could live with an opening like that.. Of course, this is only my opinion  These I believe these are the most beautiful of all the Huldra trolls..
It is also said that these Elfin Huldras seduce and enthrall men with their dance. There are legends of men joining these beautiful Elfin Hudras in dance, then losing their sense of time [this could be a day; two a year; two hundred years] And the dance is death. Being that they are Elves and of the Fae World; they always leave a faiy-rings of mushrooms growing wherever they have danced.

Finally the last Huldra that I found Is a Humanoid with fox ears and fox tails, and sometimes Not always as the legends goes, their backs can resemble an old tree bark. Now this could be either hollow or not. She too is the Keeper and Protector of the Woods and Forests. As all beautiful Huldra's, the Fox Huldra will lure men out into the forest just as the others.. I found this one fascinating. I hope you all do to my Dears.
I found it interesting that there were many different types of this Magick Creature if you will.
I hope all is well with all of you much love -ooooo)

SELCHIES-2016

SELCHIES -
Selkies are said to be fictional creatures that live in Faroese, Icelandic, Irish, and Scottish
Mythology. They can shed their skin form seals to become humans which are usually woman. The legend is originated on the island of Orkney and the Shetland Islands. The Silkies have many different names. This can be Selchies; Silkies or Selch. is some of the Scots word for the seal/selkie from the old English seolh.
Legends-
The legends of the Silkier has been around for centuries, especially in the Icelandic, Ireland and Scotland countries. These of course were the oceans of the very icy seas. The Selkies of these icy seas are able to become human by shedding their seal skins and can then return to the seal form by putting them back on. Ancient stories concerning the selkies are generally romantic tragedies. Sometimes the human[mostly always men] will not know that their lover is a selkie and wakes to find them gone.Other times the human male will hide the selkie skin which is almost always of a Female selkie, thus preventing her to return to the seal form. A selkie can only make contact with one particular human for a short amount of time before they must reture to the sea/ocean. They are not able to make contactt with that human again for seven years, unless the human has steal their selkie skin and hidden it or even worst of all
''burned it' If they have burned the selkie seal skin they may never go back to the ocean again where they probably have a husband and children and a entire family that they will never see again. And the longing for the sea will forever be there but she will never be able to be again.
There are a few such stories in ballad; called the Great Silkie or Sule Skerry and the movie
'The Secret of Roan Inish'.
The Selkie legend is also told in Wales, but in a slightly different form. The selkies are humans who have returned to the sea. Dylan - Dylan Eil Don - the firstborn of Arianrhod - was variously a merman or sea spirit who is some versions of the story escapes to the sea immediately after birth. In the Faroe Islands there are two version of the story of the Selkie or what they say 'Seal's Wife'. This is how the tale goes; A Young farmer from the town of Mikladalur on the island of kalsoy goes to

the beach to watch the selkies dance under the moon light as they always do every summer, because it can be so very cold in the winter months. The selkies always take care in hiding their seal skins so that they can find them at dawn to put them back on to go back into the sea their home to their families. Also so that no farmers or fishermen can find them to make them their wife against the will. Well, in this tale that is just what happened to one such selkie, the farmer that was watching them dance by the moon light was also watching where they were putting there seal skins too. He had his eye on one beautiful selkie maiden, so he went to find her skin and so she couldn't go back to sea, and forced her to marry him.

The farmer kept her skin in a chest, and the key to lock it around his neck both day and night. One day when he was out fishing, the farmer discovered that he forgotten to bring his key. When he returned home the selkie wife had escaped back to the sea, leaving their children behind. Sadly years later, when the farmer was on a hunt in the ocean, he killed both her selkie husband and her two selkie sons. She then promised to take revenge upon the men of the island of Mikladalur. Some of them drowned, some shall fall from the cliffs and slopes and this shall continued, until so many men have been lost that they will be able to link arms around the whole island of Kallsoy.
Male Selkies are very handsome in their human form, and have a

great seduction powers over the human women. They will typically seek those who are dissatisfied with their romantic life. This includes married women waiting for their fisherman husbands to come home after months at sea. If a human woman wishes to make contact with a selkie male all she has to do is go to a beach and shed seven tears into the sea.
If a human male steals a female selkie's skin, she is in his power, that instant he has taken her seal skin. Then is forced to become his wife.

Female selkies are said to make excellent wives, however their true love & home is the sea, they will often be seen gazing longingly at the ocean. If  she finds her skin again, she will immediately return to her true home, and sometimes to her selkie husband in the sea. Sometimes a selkie maiden is taken as a wife by a human man and she has several children by him. In these stories, it is one of her children who has discovered her sealskin who often unwitting of its significance and she soon returns to the sea leaving the child. The selkie woman usually avoids seeing her human husband again but is sometimes shown visiting her children and playing with them in the waves. Selkies are not always faithless lovers. One tale of a fisherman Cagan who married a Seal-Woman.
Against his wife's wishes he set sail during a dangerously late in the year, and was trapped battling a terrible storm, unable to return home. His wife shifted to her seal form and saved him, even though this meant she could never return to her human body and hence her happy home.
Some stories from Shetland have selkies luring islanders into the sea at midsummer, the lovelorn-humans never returning to dry land. Seal shapeshifters similar to the selkie exist in the folklore of many cultures. A corresponding creature existed in Swedish legend, and the Chinook people of North America have a similar tale of a boy who changes into a seal.
Theories of the origins of the Selkie~
There seem to be lots of theories on the Selkie, one is that they belief is that the selkie ware actually fur-clad Finns, traveling by kayak. Another is that shipwrecked Spaniards that washed ashore and their jet black hair resembled seals. As the anthropologist A. Asbjorn Jon has recognized though, there is a strong body of lore that indicates that selkies are said to be supernaturally formed

from the souls of drowned people.
It really comes down to what you believe.
I hope you all enjoyed the legend of the Selchies
there are so many legends about them
Odine the Selkie Movie
love you all
Your Friend always
