Irish Banshee

The Irish Banshee
From the Irish word Banshee has two meaning, Bean -Sidehe - which means~ 'Faerie women of

the   Mounds'. And the other meaning of the Banshee is 'The Gaelic' . They both describe a spirit who screeching and howling that may resemble that of an owl to some. Under the windowsills at night to foretelling that of a death of a loved one in the household that the spirit is attached to. This is how the legend is told in Ireland.
These Spirits of Ireland that screech in the night like owls - foretelling family members of a loved one is going to die are good spirits that have been with the Irish for centuries and generations in certain Irish families. 
Most often called Faerie women or Faerie of the Mounds, she is looked upon as a good spirit not

evil. She does not bring death but gives an Irish family a chance to prepare for a death that is coming.  The Irish Banshee comes to comfort Noble Gaelic Race with an forthcoming death even if its not necessary a violent death but it could be a member of the family who has lived a good life of 100-years of age! 
(This of course is very different than your typically Banshee who is evil and brings death to the family). 
The Faerie women could be often heard late at night crying or singing to warn their family that their connected too of a forthcoming death of their loved ones. The she will escort that loved one that has died to ensure that they will pass safety to the other side.
The wailing of an Irish Banshee is quite different than that of your typical Banshee.

The Irish 'Faerie woman' wail is a peculiarly mournful sound that resembles that of a melancholy sound of the hollow wind and the tone of a human voice. It sounds that of a woman singing softly or wailing mournfully with passion in her voice. 
There is  Keening which is the Irish form of wailing too. 
It is said that the 'Faerie woman' - 'Irish Banshee' is rarely seen. But in the legend of the Irish Banshee there have been a few documentary sightings in old Ireland. 
If the Irish Banshee does show herself they have been known to attached themselves to the more Famous Irish families of Ireland. These families have been around for centuries.
Some of these Families are; The O' Gaels, O'Neills, O'Donnells, O'Connors,O'Learys, O'Tools   O'Connaghs and the O'Connells 
Each of these families have their own Irish Banshee that is a solitary fairy who loves the mortal family she is connected with - A fierce unearthly caring and Spirit that will pace the fairy mounds in sorrow when she knows a death is looming in one of her families.
She will follow her family across the world to keep and watchful -eye unseen, Keening wherever true for a loved one of her Irish family. 
The Banshee is believed to be an Unearthly Spirit to the ancient Families of Ireland the true descendants of the Noble Gaelic Race. Those who have the Mac & O' to their Name ~

When the Irish Banshee does take on a form it is usually of and beautiful young Irish woman, a matron, old woman or an Celtic Goddess.
For the banshee to actually take on a physical form:
She must go through these three stages~
1) Young beautiful woman - beginning of life
2) Motherhood
3) The crone - The wise old woman nearing the end of her cycle of life

There are many stories within the Irish families that have had their own personal experience with an Banshee. Most of these stories have been described by one of the following Type of Irish Banshee.
1) An old woman dressed in black with long grey hair and covering her face with a veil.

2) An old woman with long white hair, red eyes ( from crying for some many centuries) and dressed in a green dress.
3) A beautiful woman naked with red hair.
4) A beautiful ghostly naked young woman.
5) A headless woman in a white dress with red hair.
6)  A beautiful woman with red eyes black hair and a white dress.
Here are a few of those famous tales of the Irish Banshee Some have dated back to 1014AD.
* One of the most famous tales - dated back to 1014.AD.
This tale is about an Irish Banshee of ancient times that had attached herself to the Kingly house of the O'Briens, Aibhill, who haunted the Rock of Craglea above Killaloe, near the old palace of Kincora. In AD 1014 was fought the battle of Clontarf, from which the aged King Brian Boru O'Brien, knew that he would never come away from the battle alive, because the previous night Aibhill had appeared to him to tell him of his impending fate. 
The Banshee's method of foretelling death in the ancient times is much different than present day. Now she wails and wrings her hands, as a general rule, but In this old Irish tale she is to be found washing human heads and limbs, or blood - stained clothes, till the water is all dyed with human blood - this would take place before a battle. In the ancient time of battles. In the course of the centuries the Irish faerie has changed her attributes and her characteristics  through the centuries .
* In the 18th century a small group of children saw a little old woman sitting on a rock beside the road, while they were walking by that evening. Suddenly the old woman began to wail like an owl - then clapped her hands. The children of course ran away in fear. But later discovered that the old man who lived in the home behind the rock had died at that very moment when the old woman had clapped her hands.
* She has appeared as a beautiful girl with Red-golden hair and a green Kirle & scarlet mantle transitional dress of Ireland. 
* A party on a yacht, on a lake told by the owner had witnessed a woman with red hair and reddish eyes. The owner , Count Nelsini formally known as O'Neill became anxious that the Banshee was announcing the death of his wife or daughter, but within 2 hours he was sized with an Augina attack and died. (Augina pronounced - aw - jin - uh)  ( Its meaning is Heart attack).

In Ireland the Banshee legend is much less gory viewed than what some might think this ghostly

spirit to be.  She is a much kinder sort the Irish Banshee. I believe this is due to the rich culture and the legend of their 'faerie woman'. The different names I believe has a big difference to the legend too. Here are a few more of the Irish banshee.

one family for centuries or generation thought time and will follow them all across the world to help them pass  over to the divine side just because the love their family so much. Now that is a kind hearted spirit.

The Nymphs of the Gods

The Nymph - From the Gods 
The Nymphs were the daughters of the Great Zeus, King of the Greek Gods. Zeus daughters were of

course were very beautiful and would dwell all over the the earth - In the Mountains, rivers, valleys, underworld, oceans, forests, lakes and woods. They would love to dance,sing and lure human men into their world of enchantment. Each of his Nymph daughters would have a close connection to nature. 
The Nymphs were joined by the Greek Gods - Artemis, Apollo and Acheloos the River God and they love to play with them. But out of all the Greek Gods the Nymphs enjoyed frolicking with Hermes, the messenger God and Hermes son the Satyr pan the most. 
They were also often pictured frolicking with other Gods, especially pastoral Gods like Pan and the Gods of Revelry Dionysus, Bacchus & hunting with Artemis or looking with Apollo and Hermes. 
The Nymph~
A nymph is a female usually of a nature deity typically associated with a location or land formation- 

These are your typically kinds of Nymphs from the Great God Zeus-
Celestilia Nymph,Water Nymph, Land Nymph, Plant Nymph, and Underworld Nymph. 
Each Nymph are generally from a different Goddesses and God, so the Nymphs are generally regarded as Divine spirits who animated nature. And are usually depicted as beautiful young maidens who love to dance, sing and go frolicking about.

Their amorous sets them apart from the restricted chaste wives and daughters of the Greek Gods. So they have much more freedom to play , dance and frolicking with other Greek Gods which in turn gets them into trouble sometimes.
Some of their favorite places to roam about were the mountain groves, water springs and natural waterfalls. Other places that the Nymphs would go were these fancy Grottos. In the day of the Greek Gods they were very popular. The Greek God Apollo is the one who featured them. 
These Grottos became outside gardens for the Gods and Nymphs. They were surround by enormous natural rock formations, rustic porch like rock or rock over hangs with water flowing over them. Some would be inside a natural hidden oases with beautiful fountains, gardns, and Greek God Stautes.

Although the Nymph will never die of old age or illness and are able to give birth to immortal children if mated from a God. They themselves are not necessary immoral and could be beholden to death is some forms.
Sometimes they will become involved with mortal men, in rare case marry them.
But this rarely happens. Most of the time, the nymph will find another nymph to fall in love with. 
Here are a few of those connections:  
 Orpheus - Took the Nymph Eurydice for his wife as spirits of Nature they could be wild and unpredictable and were very dangerous if crossed. 
Daphnis - The son of a nymph himself , had his eyes put out for breaking an oath of fidelity to a nymph. 
Hylas - Was lured to his death by the water nymph of a spring where he was drawing water.
Hermaphrodites - The legend of  hermaphrodites tells of a beautiful youth who attracted the

attention of  Salmacis, another water nymph, who clung himself so fiercely under the water where he was swimming that their flesh cleaved into one another. They became one body, uniting both sexes.
The Daughters of Nereus - The last story is about two Sea Nymphs who are the daughter of Nereus.They are legend for their great beauty and would call upon sailors in peril for their ability to calm the ocean waves and to lull the winds to sleep. They were also thought to have brought Achilles his armor from Hephaetus - The God of Metalworking before the Trojan War. 
The Oceanids - These were the three thousands daughters of the Oceanus and Tethy's
Story of the Nymphs - Zeus - Hera -
"Scattered far and wide", according to Hesiod, "haunting everywhere alike the earth and watery

depth,' they included Styx and Eryngoes. 
Who saved Hephaestus after Hera threw him out of the Olympus's home of the Gods, and gave birth to the Graces when Zeus made love her. 
There were many other Nymphs that were descendants of both the Greek God Zeus and the Goddess Hera. 
Story of Echo the Nymph on Mount Helicon - Echo is a Mountain Nymph who lived on Mount Helicon who would always distract Hera with her insane chatter, while the other nymphs who had been carousing around with her husband the God Zeus so they could make good on their escape.
To punish Echo, Hera condemned her to only be able to repeat what others had been said, not matter what she herself wanted to say. 
Another tale about Echo - was it tells of her love for the beautiful youth Narcissus, the son of the Nymph Liriope.  He had room in his heat only for himself and as she pined, over him, she wasted away until all that was left was her voice.

This was a interesting post to do. I have always be fascinated with the Greek gods and Goddess and I will probably be doing more posts on the different Goddesses later on in my blog. So stay tune!

Rainbow Dragons

Rainbow Dragons are said to be quite rare.  Even though they aren't seen that often, there are many  stories involving these Multiple colored  Magical dragons.











The History of the Rainbow Dragon~

The most famous and widespread of all these type of dragons is the Rainbow Serpent, which is found in various Mythology around the world. 

The Rainbow Serpent is generally connected to the water, because after a rainstorm when the

rainbow appears, this is when the Rainbow Serpent will emerge from the water and fly through the first Rainbow of the Gods.
They say that the Rainbow Dragon - Rainbow Serpent is the symbol of rebirth - life and death. This is because the water that they live in -  It can be both a life giving and a life taking source. In some ways you can compare the Rainbow Serpent's symbol of rebirth - life and death to rebirth like that of the Phoenix. I find the similarity amazing close at hand. 
The LifeStyle of the Rainbow Dragon-Serpent 
They're are very few dragons that are the colors to the rainbow in fact - In Colors . But  there are

Multi - dragons that are connected with the Rainbow which usually makes their scales highly reflective in the sunlight.
The Rainbow Serpent is a huge python like creature, however the colors of the Serpents scales tend to vary. Some say that these dragons are a Celestial blue so they can blend into the deep blue oceans and lakes. Others will say that there are some multicolored Serpent's. And there are a few who say that the Rainbow Serpent has just a Yellow and Red stripe down its body. These variations are due to the fact that there are many different areas that have the Rainbow Serpent. Some of these areas are: ,Australia , Congo, Dahomey,,Haiti, Melanesia, Nigeria,Papua,New Guinea,Polynesia.

Different reference's have claimed that these serpents may have lived in all these areas but it was always near an area of deep pools, lakes, oceans or billabongs.
During Seasons of drought these dragons have been known to sleep in mud. But as soon as the rain comes, the Rainbow Dragon will rise and fly through the rising rainbow at the first sunlight that breaks through the thunder clouds.

is much like that of the Chinese Dragon Yu-
Who carves deep rivers beds and gullies when he travels across the earth.

Rainbow Dragons are known to be kindly toward humans and enjoy the finer things in life - like jewelry and mostly Pearls. However if ever disturbed at the wrong time of season (during a season of little rain) the Rainbow Dragon may decide to cause flooding, destruction and death all over the world. 

I hope you enjoy the Rainbow Dragon. I found it to be fascinating  to have so many similarity to other dragons that I have done before. And to also have similarity to the Phoenix too. I hope that you all found the dragon as interesting as I found myself.

Purple Dragons

Purple Dragons

Are also known as Deep Dragons. Possibly because they are the least known of all the dragon family.  Most surface creatures have no knowledge of the existence of the Purple dragons. 
LifeStyle of the Dragon~ 
Many of those that have heard of these mysterious dragons of the deep earth dismiss such stories as myth or misconception. After all these dragons live deep in the depths of underground caverns and caves that no human or even the most experienced explorers have been in. They say that it is hard to say in the whether the purple dragons scales are either dark purple or black when they are so far in the underground of our earth. Although, the Black dragon is rarely found that far as the purple dragon so if you happen to come across a dragon deep in the earth an a unexplored cavern or deep hollow of some uncharted part of some mountain caves you could be sure that you would probably find the purple dragon if you see a lean but enormous body.

They have deep purple to midnight black scales. They find themselves to be the lords of all dragonkind believing themselves arisen and very intelligent too. These dragon are the ancients of their kind - It is reported that these Purple dragon of the deep will reach to some age's of over 3,000 years and some have live for centuries more.
It is said in the since the Purple dragon is so rare that when one dies that, any creature that could be sleeping within the vicinity ever afterward has fierce nightmares.
The Purple Dragon's Breath weapon can take on three different forms: 1) It can manifest as a cone of

searing energy 2) It can be a burst of blinding power 3) Lastly It can be a deadly blade of pure energy.  
Purple dragons live in caves, caverns, subterranean vaults and the Underdark regions-

Underdark-  The Underdark is one giant cavern, under the earth as we know and the surface elves. This one enormous cavern is rather many giant networks of caves and caverns. From what I've 
discovered,  it is not really possible to travel from one end to the other of the Underdark.

It is divided  into several domains that are similar to the continents of the world above the surface. While it isn't possible to travel from one end to the other of the entire cavern of the Underdark, It is possible to travel from one place to another within a domain. However separate  domains tend to have very few passages linking to them. There are major domains within the Underdark which I may cover as another topic in my blog at a later time. But I just wanted to give you a idea of the realm of the underdark in which the Purple dragon dwells and the drow.  

Where they remain safe from the sunlight - Which is harmful to them. You would probably never see a purple dragon in the daylight.

The only time that you might  ever get a glimpse of a Purple Dragon would be late at night, so you can his scales shimmer in the moonlight. But this would even be a rare but fantastic thing to see. Because they rarely ever come out of their enormous caverns onto the surface. So I give you the question? These fabulous ancient Creatures on the night? Who have lived for centuries - Do you still think there may be some hiding deep in our earth in uncharted caves, caverns and subterranean vaults or tunnels within the depths of the earth? 

The Purple Dragon can hear distant noises transmitted through the depths of the rocks and soils. They are accustomed to the ways of the sound - distorting depths of the deep earth. A deep dragon /purple dragon can catch the sound of the nearest cave cricket skittering up a wall on the far-side of the vast cavern in the depths of the enormous earth.

History of the Purple Dragon~ Because the Purple Dragon love to Explore - they can stray from

their own permanent Lair for great lengths of time. This could be up to 1,000 years sometimes. The older purple dragon with sufficient resources will seek ancient scrolls that will allow him to travel quickly between their lair and the frontiers of their subterranean expeditions. 
A Purple Dragon permanent lair is kinda like a honeycomb of rocky hollows connected by narrow winding tunnels. Many of the tunnels lead to dead end or elaborate traps set by the Purple Dragon. These traps that the dragon had set require a real fest of exploration for anyone new to the lairs to find their way out - that is if they find they're way out of an Purple Dragon lair , which is highly unlikely. 
I has been said that some Purple make their lair's in the highly structures of the previous Underdark residents, that is if the chambers and the connecting hallways are elaborate and fancy enough for the deep dragons taste. 
As far as the type of treasure the Purple dragon like it is a bit different than your typically dragon you could say. 
They like wealth and treasure but to them the treasure is rare maps and cartographic tools, especially tool with magic enhancements. The purple dragon also will prize items that allows them to withstand the effect of warm regions, which they encounter more often as they penetrate the deeper regions of the Underdark. ( As I had said before when I was talking about the Underdark it has many beautiful cities and regions within the vast underground.)
Traits~
A purple dragon is a talented manipulator of other creatures. It can achieves control through lies,

misdirection, and direct mental domination. He might even seek control for the sheer delight in bandying its powers about. Other times he might desire a to form a bulwark of allies and thralls for security. An there is his curiosity about newly discovered tunnels & crevices that may lead to unknown areas deeper in the earth below, for which he would recruit bands of disposable explorer's   who would be useful in discovery purposes. But after as a good dinner! 
As much as The Deep Dragon enjoys controlling other creatures, what they most love is the thrill of exploration even more! I bet you would never of guess this in a dragon! Well dragons are very intelligent and smart creatures. In my opinion , I believed that this particular Dragon the Deep Dragon /Purple Dragon are still around but are deep in the depths of the earth hiding for our society of imperfect humans. 
Back to their love of exploration - The Purple Dragon feel that the surface of the globes of

exploration in next to nothing compared to the deep volume of the worlds interior, a space containing orders of magnitude and more possibility's of discovery of old ancient scroll and maps.
The Deep Dragon feel with such a vast space and wonderful mysteries in the depths of the earth, there is much more that awaits for discovery in the dark earth than the surface explores new lands. 
Whether the Purple dragon follows their ancient calling or the call in their blood,
 the Deep dragons/Purple dragons will always be in delight in exploration of discovery of mysteries in  the depths of the earth of treasures of ancient scrolls and maps than any other of their own kind. 
Especially if that exploration leads to a deeper into the earth - They relish the discovery of these place's even more because never\ before has it been Trod upon by any creatures or visited for centuries. 
Interesting Fact ~

In fact Purple/Deep dragons have allied with disparate allies & groups of drow many times over the

centuries. Purples have also allied with the undead sometimes laying clutches of eggs with wraith or shadow nearby to watch over the hatcheries of their own. 
This is another favorite of my love for the DRAGON!

Boudicca - Celtic Warrior Queen

Boudicca's - Celtic Warrior Queen
The Celtic were a race of tribal warriors whose history and influence can be traced back to 1200 BC.

to a period called the Bronze Age. 
They established themselves and their diverse culture all over Europe and into England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland. They had no real central government, in each of their tribal bonds, only their customs and religions, which included earthbound deities, demons and Sun Gods. 
It wasn't uncommon for Tribes to go to war against each other in the period of 1200 BC.   
Each Tribe was ruled by a King and his Queen. It was written in Roman history which stated that women often rode into battle alongside the men. It was Herodotus, an Greek Historian who named the warrior race the 'Keitoi' a name that was later shortened by the Celts.
The Celtic's and the Romans were at odds for centuries. Ever since a great Celtic army sacked Rome in the year 390 BC. 
This animosity followed the tribes even after they left European continent and invaded and established themselves in Britain. 
When Julius Caesar conquered the island in 55 BC, Britain officially turned to a Roman province. All British subjects falling under Roman law, for the next centuries and their relations between Celtic tribes and their Roman conquerors remained peaceful for a time. But like all good things in the Roman Empire and Julius Caesar - Peace did not last very long.  
In the Age of 43 AD., the problems and the peaceful times were coming to a end. 
The Roman colonisation escalated  in 43 AD. and the settlements and garrisons were established all over the countryside, including London or "Londinium" as it was known in the ancient times of latest invasion of a rich and powerful Celtic Tribe called 'The Iceni'. 
This Powerful Celtic Tribe called 'Iceni lived in the territories that are today called the counties of the Norfolk and the Suffolk. 
The King Prasutagus, ruler of the Tribe Iceni, and agreed to become a Roman ally but only if he was allowed to retain his territories. Following the King Prasutagus 's lead, several other Celtic tribes agreed to this same arrangement of their own Celtic tribes.
But as all this is going on, the most powerful of all the Celtic Tribes Kings dies suddenly. This was the  King Prasutagus ruler of the Tribe 'Iceni' - And his grieving Queen Boudicca and their two daughters, Comorra & Tasca.
This is when The Celtic Queen Boudicca - Started her legacy as the Celtic Warrior Queen-

When the King Prasutagus die, he had also written a will stating that half his kingdom and his wealth would go to Rome and the other half would go to his beloved Queen Boudicca and his two daughters as their rightful inheritance. 
But the Roman officials ignored the King Prasutagus wishes to his grieving Queen Boudicca and his two daughters. 
So the Roman officials ignored the King's Prasutagus written will of wealth, land and his kingdom and demanded that the Queen Boudicca hand over all wealth and territories.  When she refused, they proclaimed her as a unfit Roman ally and the Roman soldiers were ordered to arrest and flog the Queen Boudicca and brutalize to rape her two daughters.
Once she was released from the Romans and her daughters were returned to her side, Boudicca was not content to sit back and allow the atrocities to committed against her family to go un-answered. 
So this is when the Queen Boudicca became the Warrior Queen legend that was able to rally up an army of over 100,000 for her cause of saving her homeland tribe.
The Queen Boudicca rallied the support of her neighboring tribes, the Trinovantes and also a few other Celtic Tribes from the Northern areas, who thus far refused to blow to the Roman rule.

Within a very short time the Queen Boudicca was able to amassed an army of over 100,000. Her first target was the Camulodunum. A Garrison, relieved of the Roman Soldiers and theirs. 
Boudicca & her forces spared no one & she ordered the city and the temples to be put the the torch.  A Roman Torch. A Roman infantry of 5,000 was sent to deal with the upstart of the Queen Boudicca but they were also annihilated to the last man-  
Queen Boudicca's Bloodily rebellion moved on to her next targets which were - Londinium and Verulamiun and the surrounding Roman settlements, which were all systematically sucked out and burned to the ground.
While the Queen Boudicca continued her revenge against the Romans and the Current Governor, Suetonius, Galvanised, and army of 10,000 Legionaries  from the Roman army was marching to an area where they would have a tactical advantage over the Queens rebels. This would force both the rebels of the Queen Boudicca and her force's into a dense forest. 
The Queen Boudicca Rebellion began to fail~

The Boudicca Warrior was certain they would once again prevail over such a small Roman force - not only quickly but completely, but this would be her last conquest in battle with the Roman Empire. The last battle was a ragged one and it lasted all day. Boudicca would send wave after wave of her rebels against the Suetonius & Legionnaires. But it wasnt' working this time. The Romans were successfully repelling Boudicca rebels and herself. 
Eventually the Queen Boudicca and her remaining forces amidst their own trapped and their terrified families. 
The Romans began their own Slaughter of the Warriors, Women, Children and the elderly in which the carnage from which few would escape. It to was as bloody of a force as the Queen's was when she had her revenge against the Romans.

The Great Celtic Queen Boudicca decided that rather than being taken back to Roman and than paraded before the Romans's Emperors as Political Prisoners - They choose to commit suicide.
So This is how the life of the Queen Celtic Warrior and rebel ended.

The Queen Boudicca was a great Warrior of her time and a great leader of women . I picked this 

image to show her beauty and strength that she had both as a mother, wife queen , warrior and a lead of a entire tribe ( country that was her King's) and she nearly was able to conquer the Roman Empire, which I feel that make Boudicca a powerful woman in history and one to not ever to forget.

The life of the Drow

The Drow is one of my favorite magick creatures. Also the fact that they have such a dark history intrigues me even more. Coming from the fact they were once the beautiful - Yet dangerous Dark Elves, I think this is what draws me to write about them at least one more time. Maybe two! Besides I love the Artwork of the many Great Artist of today on how they all depicted the Drow. In this installment of the drow I hope to cover items that I might have missed in my other blog called Drow's.
Physical Looks ~
Drows look very much like the Dark elves but there are a few difference . All drows vary in shape

size, features, skin hue's (although most are very dark skinned-from their dark elfin kin) There are a few rare occasional drow that have the light blue, pale yellow & golden hue skin. 
Hair hue's are usually silver, white, Dark blue and Red. The Eyes are clearly usually Red! and tend to glow when their angered. But as in all races there's is always the exception the the rule. And the Drow has theirs to. There are some drow to have paler eyes such as light blue, lilac, pink and even silver. 
But if you ever see an drow with yellow eyes, it is certain that this drow has been either poisoned by some undetermined magic or the other which is the sign of either disease & sickness. Being that a drow lives in the Underdark, which is a very damp, wet and highly vaporous place with poison toxins in the air that they breathe. So it is my best bet to keep your distance if you ever see a drow with yellow eyes!
Now I have heard that drows have Blue/Purple eyes in the Dark Underworld too! But this is very

rare.  What this means,  if you're are curious - These drow are not what you might think! At first you might think since they have the rare eye color they would get better treatment.  Well this is not true. What usually what happens to these drow is, they are thrown into the pits of the Underdark to work under the Spider Queen's order's until they drop dead. There have been known to have halflings of drow and humans which I have heard to be quite beautiful, that is if they are lucky enough to escape the clutches  of the Spider Women.
Another interesting find, about the drow, is that within the Characteristics features is their teeth. They are either black, white or even purple. And their gums, tongue and throats are either red or purple. I thought this to be quite interesting myself.
Height~Age~Life~  
Compared to the other Faerunian elves, the drow's are quite a bit shorter but much stronger for their size. 

Females  of course are the dominant race in the drow so they tend to be a bit taller than the males standing about an average of 5' and much stronger in most cases. 
Males are on an average of 4'6" in height and are less stronger but there is the exception. But of course they must be under consisted watch by The Spider Queen's female guards. 
Talk about life spams, well the drow sometimes can live for centuries. This is far beyond any human or even some of their elfin kin. But given the type of life style that the drow lives and where the live, most don't have long life spams. The majority of the drow meet premature deaths and violent ones at best, as most are warriors and assassins in their society. 
As far as living as a drow, it can be a very hard life. Only the Royalty of the Spider Woman lives a happy life with all the privileges of being Queen. 
The average drow citizen in the drow cities that do survive the trials of their society and the horrors of the Underdark mishappening's can live for centuries; just like their Queen - The Spider Queen. 
Senses~Traits ~
The majority of the drow keep to themselves and to their own traits and traditions which they were

given to at birth. A lot of misconceptions and ignorance of the drow seem to surface in those times.
These elves had a different perception of drow and dark elves compared to the wood elves, moon elves, sun elves, star elves, valley elves, wing elves, silver elves, Lythari elves, forest elves. and unicorn elves. 
There are a few sub-races and others that dwell in different forms of the Underdark . These could be the Blood elves, Shur-drow,drow-human and dark elves to be a few. 
Other highly developed trait is their sense's- 
 Drows senses are highly more developed than their surface elfin kin. This is because of living in the dark cavern's of the Underdark for a millennium. 
Two examples of their keen sense of sounds: They have developed away of finding water deep in the earth by timing the echoes bouncing of the caves. Then from those sounds they are able to to detected the amount of running water they hear in the caves. 
They can also detected when there are rock shifts or collapses  in the rock formations, by listening for the natural movement and groaning sounds of unshaped rocks.  
These keen senses have given the drow a superior sense of hearing. 
Abilities~
The most distinctive feature of the drow, is the touch of the Lolth upon them. Just as Corellon cursed them and made them vulnerable to light ~ The Spider Queen gave the drow a blessing to counter act this giving the drow the power over darkness that all other races lack. 
This power can manifest in several ways. The most common being the ability to shroud enemies in a

Magical impenetrable darkness, usually called Globe Darkness - Debilitating Charm & the Faerie Fire that makes a creature an easier target. By encasing them in something that looks purple fire though causing no harm.
Most drow can use these abilities every so often and the power can tired them out slightly. More experienced and well - trained drows however learn how to cast both abilities separately. 
Yet others, particularly drow who are well - favored by the Lolth, can manifest another ability that both slows and impedes a foe while also making it more difficult for them to see some individuals learn to awaken. These powers further becoming  known as the curse born and possessing abilities that allow them to further their mastering the shadow power granted by the Spider Queen. 
Other drow's struggle to rid themselves of the Lolth touch and the dark power and instead seek the

God Corellon's aid eventually becoming the fey God's Crusader within the dark realms of their race, gaining the blessing of healing and light from patron of the elves. Either path may lead to great power and grant even more unique abilities to an individual drow. 
Psychology~ 
The Drow are taught from an very early age to trust no one, forgiving alliances only when they are confident they can out match their ally if he/she decides to turn on them. The inherent  pride in their own abilities  quite often leads to such alliances beings forged. 
Though they almost always end badly when one partly decides  the alliance is no longer convenient. Even drow who escape the cruelties of the Underdark find it more difficult to form long-term friendships than most of their cousin kin.
Most drow share a hatred of all other races, but the most hatred that runs deep for all drow is the Goddess Seldarine and the surface elves.   
Crafts ~

Poisons and toxins are some of the drows favors in making their most powerful magic poisons. 
One of their favor's is called the Knockout Poison, which is made from a slippery black fungus that only grow in a certain area of the Underdark caverns. They have other favored poisons too. These were made from purple worms, scorpions and all types of spider that roam all the caverns of the Underdark. 
Drows favor fast weapons like rapiers and will choose hand crossbows when possible. This is the best way to deliver their deadly poisons from long or even short distances. 
Religion~

Drow's Primarily worship the Dark Seldarine - That is The Deity Seldarine who was cast out and exiled to the Demonweb Pits. They generally worship the Goddess Lolth  (The Goddess Lolth is Seldarine when she was thrown into the demonweb pits and exiled there if you're curious). 
Drow as I said do worship the Goddess Lolth although those on the surface often worship Shar or Vhaeraun. There is a number of good Drow - And there are Good! drow's out there! that are on the surface that worship the Goddess Eilistraee.
Once again I've done another blog on the drow. I probably will do more I hope that you all will enjoy this one as well.
