The Griffin-

The Griffin-
In my next post I am going to explore the Magick creature the Griffin. In legend of the Griffin, it has been depicted many different
ways. In this post, I will be going deeper into the legend/myth of this amazing Magick Creature.
First of all the Griffin is customarily depicted as a lion with eagle or raptor wings. They usually have talons although the Griffin have been known to simply have the lions paws too.
They have prominent upturned ears that seem to have developed from earlier Egyptian times, where it shows a crest on its head.
Its front part of the Griffin's body is frequently spotted like a leopard. Now, in the classical times, all four of the Griffin's feet were that of a lion, but in later times the two front legs were that of an lions and his two hind were eagles talons.
The griffin takes its name from the Greek word, Gyphos - Which means 'hooked or curved'. An allusion to its sharply curved beak.
It is said to be one of the oldest magical creatures, that is depicted in the western civilization and even remains that even today! As
a powerful protector of modern civil institutions such as banks, car plants and breweries too.
Griffens were a feature of Egyptian Art from 3000 BC, spreading into Syria, Anatolia and Cyprus.
In Sumerian Myth, the Griffin is the weather God Iskur where it is depicted vomiting forth streams of water or lighting from its mouth upon the parched lands below.
In Assyrian Art - The Griffin is frequently shown venerating and protecting the Tree of Life. Also the flanking divine figures to assist the check list of all evil.
Griffins were also shown with the Egyptian sun god, Malakbel and in the old Kingdom, where they were a symbol of the victorious rulers striding across the bodies of the enemies wounded or killed in battle.
In the 1700's B.C the Griffins were depicted by King Mino's Palace on the Island of Crete, where it is shown fighting with bulls and lions, as well al lining the walls of his throne rooms.
The Greeks would also adorn the Griffins to many of their vases, mosaics, lyres, gems, seals, coins and reliefs but they primarily would have the Griffins craved upon their tombs to guard the dead and to act as bearers of the soul.
It is said that the Griffin became associated with many of the Greek divinities, some of these divinities were - Nemesis the Goddess of Justice, who's chariot was drawn by Griffins. Even in
medieval legends, like that of Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C. attempted to fly on a griffin to the edge of the horizon. Even this great leader of his time couldn't tame the Magical Beast.
But Even the Great Alexander the Great couldn't control these
Powerful Creatures. As it says on his tomb... Alexander the Great.

'O, mankind, who will die,
why do you desire to be lifted on high?
why, the more you gain,
the more do your desire to possess?
Everything passes away.
And the flower of life also comes to and end.
The higher you climb,
The greater your fall from the height,
to the depth.'

There was a lot on this Magick Creature the Griffin, even I found
that Apollo God of the Sun use them to pull his chariot across the heavens, in my Apollo post. The list was much longer too! I hope that I have given  you all an Full-circle of the Griffin my dear Friends & Followers.

Winter Skies-

Winter Skies-
chilly crimson sky's fill the silvery moon so afar,
as a cold brisk wind breaks through the trees below.
dark mountains look like huge shadows in the darken
skies.
as the moon is cradled by thousands of,
twinkling lights just above those shadowy mountaintops.

the valley below is awaken by the sound of harps that go,
through the leafless trees below.
a eerie song seems to lull through the flow of leaves,
flying every which way.
it seems the more the wind blows,
the sounds of mother earth sings, to beckon the elfin voices to
stir.

still I wonder around my darken garden.
I look, listen and feel for the chance meet of a fairy,
that might come out for a drink.
the beauty of the night, so cold and brisk,
will bring the silvery moon across the darken skies

Firdbird

Firebird-
This is an Post about the legendary bird the Firebird of old Russia.
It was a celestial creature with the most beautiful pure gold feathers and the eyes of the brightest crystals you would ever would see. In some ways the Firebird, is like the Phoenix in its Grand appearance and beauty. This is how the legend of the Firebird goes, I hope you will all Enjoy the legend and story of this amazing Bird!
In the legend, it is said the Firebird grazed in the grand gardens of the Tzar Dalmet, but it had a fondness for the beautiful apples in the gardens of the Tzar Vyslav Andronovich. Since the Firebird enjoyed these delicious apples so much, he would steal them from the Tzar Vyslav Andronovich Gardens quite often. As the Russian legend goes, there was an czar that was envious of his neighbor's Firebird and decided to resolve it by taking the czar's beautiful Firebird from him, so it could be his.
So he called upon his three sons, Dimitri, Ivan, and his youngest son to find a way to steal the magnificent Celestial Firebird creature, of pure gold feathers.
It was his middle son, Ivan with the aid of an Magick wolf.

Ivan and the Magick wolf over a period of time located the
hiding place of the Firebird. Once they did this they trapped
the magnificence bird, but the two were then ambushed and killed by his own jealous brothers - Dimitri and Vasili.
Then Dimitri and Valili brought back the firebird
 to the father czar.
Unbeknown to either of the brothers-Dimitri and Vasili, the Firebird had actually been won fairly by Ivan's completing a task for Czar Dalmut and when the Magick wolf restored the prince to life, he exposed the would be murderers. Ivan kept the beautiful Firebird and his brothers Dimitri and Vasili were thrown into jail for their conspiracy to murder him.
Another tale of this Fabulous Bird-
The Firebird from Russia. It's an traditional tale about Tzar. A tale
when all Russia's were presented with one golden feather from
the tail of the firebird by one of the Bogatyrs.
So this is now this Tale goes!
Instead of being content with just a feather of the Grand Firebird,
the Tzar's demanded that the warrior bring the Firebird itself to him!
In terror and despair the warrior began his task of looking for the
Firebird, knowing the great dangers in doing so.
It was said that the Firebird was vast in size and notoriously aggressive too! Yet the warrior was able to trap the grand bird even with all of these set-backs!
How he did this? Well, he managed to trap the beautiful bird by
strewing up a maze in a huge field. Then hiding in a tree until the Firebird swooped down for the food. Then  on his magick horse prancing nearer and nearer toward the fabulous Firebird, until
the horse pranced onto the huge glowing outstretched wings and
fastened the bird to the earth. The Firebird was then bound with
strong ropes and taken to the Tzar. The Firebird in many ways makes me think of the Phoenix. Although there is a difference that I can thing of between the two... In my research and reading I have never heard of the Phoenix being captured. It has always been

Free. I hope in this Tale/Legend of this Magnificence Firebird, that he would find a way to be free too from his captures, Even the Tzar. I hope that you all Enjoy My first of many to come Stories/legends and much much more.... My dear friends & Followers I love your all! Your Wendy..
