Aonghus Celtic God-Irish God of Love

Aonghus Celtic God-Irish God of Love-
Aonghus Celtic God-Irish of Love
Having Another of his
Dreams of the Beautiful Maiden
Hello my dear Friends & Follower for today's post I am going to bring you into the world of the Celtic God-Irish of Love~
He is also know as "Angus the Young' and was considered the Irish God of Love. Aonghus was quite the youth and handsome God in ancient Celtic times. And it was said that he had four Doves/Birds flying about his head always.. Now I don't know the reason for this but, some have said the Doves symbolize kisses -- who inspired love in all who heard them. Others have said they were symbols used for the end of his love letters..Of course this is the legend of the Irish God of Love, so anything is possible. Aonghus was the Love child of the Celtic God Dagda  and Goddess Queen Boann-(Wife of Elcmar) at one time. It seems that Aonghus was to carry on the Traditions of his God like Parents and become a Love God. Learn how to play the harp and lure the ladies with his smooth lyrics that he would play. In alot of ways The God Aonghus seemed equivalent to that of a Cupid. However, he was differently a God and he kept his reputation as a Romantic Rascal of an God. Well his troubles doesn't end there. It seems that the Celtic-Irish God of Love was troubled by a dream of a young maiden, in which he instantly fell in love with, inside his dream. The was so troubled by the dream that he knew that only one that would believe in him and help him would be his Mother the Goddess Boann. So That is what Aonghus did. He came to his mother and asked for her help.
Goddess Boann
Mother of God Aonghus
Of Love
And being the loving Mother that she was, the Goddess Boann did exactly that - she searched the whole country of Ireland for this beautiful maiden for her son Aonghus. However, after a year of searching she still hadn't found this maiden that her son had dreamt of. So the heart sick Aonghus, Father (Dagda Celtic God) was called upon to search for this Maiden that his son had dreamt of. But even his Father who searched Ireland for an entree year too , still didn't find the beautiful maiden that his son Aonghus had dreamed of. Makes you kinda wonder why would the parents of Gods/Goddesses believe there might be a beautiful Maiden just on the belief on a dream that their son had. Interesting Eh!  Well the tale doesn't end here.. Would you believe that the Bov the Red King of the Dananns in Munster and the Celtic God Dagda's aids, were called to search - after that year he did indeed find the Maiden. That was in his sons Aonghus God of Love Dream! Now its getting interesting .. I hope it is for you all too... So to re-cap the tale of the Irish-God of Love Aonghus who fell
Celtic God Dagda/Daghdha
Aonghus God of Love's
Father
Madly in love with a Maiden that who would visit him many times well he layed asleep. This beauitful maiden visied Aonghus in his dreams for over a year, and all this time he couldn't touch her because she would dissappear everytime he tried. So His mother
Boann searched first for her son on the beief that this maiden was real, all over Ireland, but was unable to find her after an year of searching . So then His father the God Dagahdha was enlisted to help his son. Well after a year of searching Ireland it seems that his father the Daghdha who in turn sought out Bodhbh, who was the Tuatha De' Danann King of Munster. So it seems that Bodhbh revealed that the maiden was Caer Lobharmheith and brough the God Aonghus to meet her at the Loch Beal Dragon (Dragon's Mouth) in Tipperary... It was then when, Bodhbh explained about Caer was from Sidh Uamhain - an 'Otherworld Residence' in Connacht. Then Ceaer's Father reveales to Daghdha( Aonghus father) that his daughter could change forms either into a bird or an lovely maiden girl on alternate years.
Aonghus God  and Ceaer
And the 150 Swans
Bodhbh continued the the story by saying that the folling Samhain (November) Ceaer her daughter would be in the form of a bird at the Loch Beal Dragan. So her faher instructed Aonghus to go there and call out to him.  And so Aonghus did as he was told, he followed Ceaer directions and found her in the shape of a beautiful white swan, in the company of one hundred fifty other beautiful swans. Once there he did as instructed by Ceaer's Father - and Aonghus called out to her. As soon as he did she flew out to Aonghus the God of Love and in that very moment, he too became a beautiful swan. They bothe embraced each other and flew three times around the lake...After that they flew together to Brugh na Boinne and put the dwellers of that place to sleep with their beautiful singing. From that day on, Ceaer remained with Aonghus in the Brugh na Boinne after that for the rest of their days.
So that is the tale of the Ancient Story of the Swans of Newgrange. The tale is quit ancient in the Celtic world due to the fact that the Ceaer was from an 'Otherworld Residence' which is quite intriguing, giving the tale a more interesting twist. It is said that it is so ancient in ireland that there is really not firm date on the original story...As most of the Irish stories have survieved over time by word of mouth by generation to generation... So though the legends of Newgrange and also swans one can say this tale may come from the distant epoch of neolithic Ireland.. Note: I did find another version to this tale - the part when Aonghus was taken to the lakes Dragon's Mouth, Ceaer's 'Otherworld Residence'. The entrance to her world... Once there he saw 150 maidens all chained with gold in pairs. At the base of the Dragons Mouth Aonghus the Celtic Irish God of Love spied the maiden in his dreams at once and her name was Ceaer, the daughter of Ethal and Anual, a prince of the Dananns of Connact. He was told that on November first Ceaer and all the other maidens will transform into swan for a year. Also by the parents of the Maiden Ceaer if he could identify her as a swan he could marry her. So he had to wait til November 1, the day that all the maidens 150 of them turned into Swans. So on that date Aonghus went out into the lake and called out to his love, and at once he had found her he turned into a swan himself and joined her. They flew off together singing such a beautiful song that all who heard them fell asleep for three days and nights. They were happy for all their days.. It seems that they had a son called 'Diarmuid Ua Duibhne' or Diarmuid of the Love Spot. It is said that one night while hunting Diarmuid met a maiden who made a magic love spot appear on his head and from then on no woman ever looked upon him with out falling in love with him... So the generation of Celitc Gods of Love continue you could say

.
Well I hope that you Enjoyed the Tale of the Celtic-Irish God of Love
It was fun and interesting tale ..

Yemaya African Goddess

Yemaya African Goddess-
Yemaja African Goddess
of All the waters of the World
They say her blood is the
maker of all mankind.
Good evening my dear Friends & Followers for today I have found another beautiful African Goddess Yemaya of west African mythology. She is an very important goddess in the African culture from what I found discovered. Why? Well because Yemaya was the first mother that ruled all the waters of the world, her blood in a matter of speaking, is the maker of all mankind...
Yemaya is also the mother of the Goddess Oshun is a earlier post that I have done...
The Goddess Yemaya besides being the mother of all the waters of the world, she is also associated with fertility, sexuality and the moon. Since she is the spirit of the water nothing can live without her. This means all things - All the plants, animals, birds, fish and life in the waters and lands. Humans too. Everything is partly made from the Goddess Yemaya and for these reasons is why she is called the Queen of the World...
According to African mythology the Supreme Being created a pantheon of Gods and Goddesses called Orishas. These Orishas regulate the world as we know it and act as intermediaries between man(humans) and the Supreme Being. After the Supreme Being had created the World, He discovered that it had a large hole in it. So He filled this hole with water he made from some gas clouds. At the same time he created the goddess Yemaya and gave her domain over all the waters of the world. At night, the Goddess Yemaya became Nana Buruku, the moon, Mysterious and Mystical. So Basically The Goddess Yemaya would regulate both the day and the night as two different goddess so that neither is too long. Like other moon Goddesses Yemaya (Nana Buruku as the moon Goddess) controls the tides and the rain. She is also very beautiful and brought beauty into the world too...
Oddua the First Man
Yemaya Love
I guess like all Goddesses and Gods in all cultures they too marry too - And when the Goddess Yemaya had married Oddua, the first man and then Yemaya became the first mother.
She it was said in the African Mythology in their belief of creation and their Supreme being ...
That Yemaya is the mother of all the other Orishas. As a mother she brought compassion into the world too. It seems that Yemaya marriage with Oddua was one of the Earth & Water - all else that is created from that with the goddess Yemaya and Oddua the first Man. Their love is said is the greatest in the world and lasts even today in the African Culture. I could find an part where it tell about her daughter Oshun. However, it could be that it wasn't important in the legend of the Queen of Yemaya... It seems that the African Culture also believed, that if the love of -Yemaya & Oddua Stops (even now) - the earth and water will be separate again and it will be the end of the World. Well I found this to be very interesting myself as I explore different cultures and their beliefs. Also their different gods and goddesses too. I hope that you all found this interesting too. I am going to leave you with a few images that I found of the beautiful goddess.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend My dear Friends & Followers

Oshun the African Queen of all Waters

Oshun the African Queen of all Waters-
The Beautiful Goddess
Oshun of Africa
Well I thought I would mix it up a bit with the different cultures.. I have Explored the Greek Mythology to a great length, however there is still more I can do there I wanted to travel of sorts to other cultures to see what they are like.. I hope that you all will find these Posts interesting as I do my dear Friends & Followers. And I want to thank you again so much for following ME! these past 2years. I couldn't of had this blog without YOU! So ThankYOU! So Much... YOUR WENDY...
So on with the Story of Yalorde the African Queen.. Yes We are going into African Mythology today. In Africa Mythology Oshun was often called Yalorde who was the Queen of all the Waters of Africa. Yalorde was given this title because of her amazing beauty, kindness and love of Nature. What made Oshun such a beauty was her complication of cinnamon color skin, radiant black eyes and silky black hair. However, it was mostly what was inside that radiated out herself that made Oshun such a beautiful Queen. Oshun is the Daughter of Yemaya, the Goddess of all the waters and is herself the Goddess of fresh waters; rivers, lakes, and ponds. Oshun has a palace under the water of a great river called Ile Tinibu. The people of her Kingdom loved her dearly because of  the care she showed them. It seems that Oshun is the equivalent of Venus or Aphrodite in African Mythology. Like them she is called 'the Goddess of Love'. Just like in the Greek Goddesses Venus & Aphrodite, Oshun was also one of the most beautiful of all the goddesses of Yemaya was more beautiful). There were some important differences from what I learned with the two goddesses Oshun and Yemaya from Africa.
The Beautiful
Goddess Oshun
Oggun God of Iron & War
And there were important differences between the  Greek Goddesses Venus & Aphrodite - verses the African Goddesses Oshun and Yemaya. You see it seems that the Greek goddesses were rather vain ans self-centered, they also could be cruel and treacherous to the human kind. However, with the African Goddesses Oshun who was best known for her kindness, toward everybody; Gods, Goddesses and the humans too. To the Africans this was considered the most important quality that anyone could every possess. And the tale continues... It seems that Once the Goddess Yemaya had threw a party to honor the Supreme Beings and all the Gods came Except Oggun. Oggun is the God of Iron & War and is very much a solitary God; However, this didn't seem to stop Yemaya, she had sent messengers to beg him to come because they could not perform the sacrifices without him.  Yemaya was sure that Oggun would come to her party, in which she had threw in honor of all the Supreme being Gods. However, Oggun had refused to come to the festive Yemaya had threw together in honor of all Supreme Gods..including Oggun. Yemaya  decided to go see Oggun herself. She told herself as she head to his palace that, she would force him to attend her Party and to teach the God Oggun a lesson he would never forget. Now I wonder, this is the God of War & Iron that the Goddesses Yemaya of water thinks she is going to teach a lesson he is never going to forget? I wonder if this is going to back-fire on the goddess just an observation on my part on this tale.. I just think its not a very good idea in my own opinion. However, it seems that Oshun her daughter had stopped her mother, by saying that she would bring Oggun from the forest. So at the party all the gods were very surprised when Oshun was the Youngest and no one thought she could actually get Oggun to come to the party. But she did! At first Yemaya refused, but Oshun insisted and finally was allowed to go. Thinking ahead Oshun took a jar of honey with her.  When Oshun had reached the forest she couldn't find Oggun at first. She knew he was close, because she could smell him.Eventually she did find him hiding in a very large tree. The Goddess Oshun told Oggun that her mother needed him for the sacrifices, but he ignored her. Realizing that Oggun would never listen and she now knew where he was, Oshun took some honey from the Jar she was carrying and smeared it on the Gods lips. Well this must of been a very special blend of honey because when Oggun tasted the sweet honey on his lips he began to change. He relaxed and became more docile too. So Oshun took some more honey form the jar she was carrying and smeared it on his lips again. When Oggun tasted the sweet honey he began to change even more! The great God Oggun had become so relaxed and more docile, that at this point Oshun began to sing to him and began to lead him out of the forest and back to her mother's party... By the time the two arrived at the party, the other Gods/Goddess were all amazed to see Oshun bringing Oggun out of the forest. After that day Oshun gained everyone respect, especially the respect for the Supreme Being.
Oggun God  of War
They said that Oshun was truly the greatest of them all of the Goddess of Africa. Without a fight she had brought the most violent God of War out of the Forest against his own will...
To the African people Oshun was both a beautiful and strong goddess in the Mythology of the African culture... I hope that you all Enjoyed the tale of Oshun and her strength of what she was able to do for her people.. I will leave you with some beautiful images of this beautiful African Goddess.

The Dragon Maiden-

The Dragon Maiden-
The Dragon Maiden
Before
The Goddess DIana
Condemned her to
A life as a hideous
Dragon
This is the tale of the Lady of the Land - also known as the Dragon Maiden... I thought you all might enjoy this tale my dear Friends & Followers, so have a sit and enjoy the story of 'The Dragon Maiden'..
The Dragon Maiden under
the Castle of vast carvens and caves.
The tale begins, as once being the beautiful daughter of Yppocras. However, had fallen foul with the Goddess Diana, she condemned her to exist in the form of a hideous dragon until a man would kiss her and love her for herself. It was said that the Dragon Maiden was described as a vast, hideous creature that lived in a cavern under a castle on the island of Lango.
Many men in this tale gave thousands attempts to release her from the curse, efforts that were prompted by her being surrounded by a great hoard of gold and jewels. However, each time they would get close to her, their revulsion repelled them so much that they fled before they ever got close enough. Which usually the penalty was their imminent death.
Well I hope You all Enjoyed the tale of the Dragon Maiden My Dear
