Father Time

Oldfather Time~
OLDFATHER TIME
I thought since we are into the new year I would
start with a few legendary legends such as
Oldfather Time. Before the holidays, I got lots of
feedback on urban legends so I thought I would start with
the Father Time/Father Christmas legend. It is said that in the
ancient times of the Romans they
would celebrate Saturnalia which was a week-long harvest festival in
December to honor Saturn. It was likely that the festival was influenced by the Christian people and their traditions, the year
354AD, when Pope Liberius ordered that December, 25 be
observed as the birthday of Christ. The Pope Liberius then cited
Father Christmas
the precedent of Saturnalia, which probably in the hope that
the new holiday would divert attention from the pagan revelry.
This is why the images of Father Time & Father Christmas plus the
passing of the old year and the coming of the new have
all come to be associated with one another over the centuries.
Here's to the bright New year And a fond farewell
to the old; Here's to the things that are yet to come
And to the memories that we hold. -Anonymous-
So what better way to start the new year with a bit of history, trivia, myth, murder, incest and intrigue, Well that is what some say with the legend of Oldfather time--Father Time--Old Man Time--Aka Old Man Time--Father Christmas.
It is usually said that Father time is depicted as an elderly bearded
man, dressed in a robe, carrying a scythe and an hourglass or other timekeeping devices. Sometimes he is pictured with an infant or young child to symbolize the coming of the new year!
However, there are over ways that Father time has been depicted too. Have you noticed who he resembles? Well, I think the Grim Reaper is one to synonymous with death, which is sometimes depicted as a figure in its own right. Father Time, Old Man Time, and the Grim Reaper and Death the same person?
So the question is?
If you want to know where Father Time originates are it is from Greek Mythology.
The 2 greek gods with the similar names
Cronus -- Chronos
1-Cronus was one of the descendants of  Gaia, the earth, and Uranus, the sky, With his siblings they made up a collection of deities known as the Titans. Cronus being the youngest and also their leader. Cronus envied the power of his father Uranus and with the connivance of this mother Gaia, he ambushed Uranus. Using a sickle made and provided by Gaia, he castrated Uranus and threw his testicles into the sea. Thereafter Cronus ruled with his sister Rhea as king and queen. Appropriately, he was and is usually depicted with a sickle in his hand. The period of his rule is known as the Golden Age. The festival of Kronia was held in his honor and to celebrate the harvest, suggesting that he was also the patron saint to the harvest.
Cronus had been told by Gaia and Uranus that he would be overcome by his own son. To stop this happening as soon as rhea gave birth to a child, Cronus pre-empted the prophecy by swallowing his unborn children. By the time she was due to give birth to child number 6 Rhea had had enough, She enlisted the aid of her mother in law Gaia and together they hid the sixth child in a cave, where he was raised either by a goat or by Gaia  depending upon which version you wish to believe. Cronus was given a stone to disguised as the baby and swallowed that in the belief that it was his son. The baby became the God Zeus. When he grew to the God Zeus he used an emetic to force Cronus to disgorge as the babies he had eaten, who had remained alive. The war that followed saw Zeus victorious with Cronus being imprisoned for eternity.
2-Chronos was a very different entity to that  all around good guy, Cronus.
Long before Cronus, before Gaia and before Uranus, the universe was unformed, a mass in the shape of an egg. In addition to the cosmic egg, there were also the primordial hoods Ananke and Chronos, sometimes written as Khronos. Ananke was the primeval goddess of inevitability and necessity and had emerged fully formed at the beginning of time. She had a serpent's form. Chronos was the time god, also, serpentine in form but with three heads, that of man, a bull, and a lion. Chronos and Ananke wrapped the egg in their coils and squeezed, shattering the egg and thereby creating the earth, sea, and air. Chronos and Ananke remain forever entwined within the universe so created, being the forces of fate and time. The younger gods then created are said to be controlled by them. An alternative version holds that Chronos impregnated  Ananke who then laid the cosmic egg. Eros hatched from the egg and created Chaos from which came Gaia Uranus, Tartarus the abyss and so on. Whereas Cronus, the evil guy, was considered by the Greeks to be a tempestuous force of the chaos and disorder, Chronos, the God of time controls the past, present, and future of everything.
Although most frequently depicted as a young man, Chronos was  sometimes pictured as an old wise man with a long white/gray beard. His name in modern Greek means 'YEAR' and his name has given rise to such words as chronometer, chronology, chronic, anachronism and chronicle.bytesdaily.blogspot.com/2010/12/father-time.html
www.novareinna.com/festive/oft.html
www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2006/10/a-brief-history-of-father-time.html
is where I found this article have a look if you like;
Father Time; Similarity of the names Cronus and Chronos are believed to have resulted in a blurring of the distinction between the two, the confusion causing the time god to become depicted as an old man with a scythe. The sickle used by Cronus and Saturn has become symbolic not of the castration of one's own father but of the unrelenting flow to time. It was the sickle or scythe which had emasculated Uranus/Saturn thereby enabling the next
generation to rule the cycle of birth-life-death. Sometimes Father Time is depicted with an hour glass, symbolizing the flow of time. Time's elderly body and long, white beard are reminders that time itself is a devourer of all things. Nothing can escape time. Nonetheless, time also gives serenity, experience, and wisdom.
The downward flow of the sand in the hourglass and the loss of the body's vitality is balanced by the upward flow of the spirit  the increase of wisdom of the spirit and the mind. The young bull and the old bull of words
The Grim Reaper: From the 15th century onwards, Death has been depicted as a
skeletal figure that carried a large scythe and clothed in a black cloak with a hood. He has also been termed as the Angel of Death, Stemming from the Bible too. The image of the Grim Reaper, aka Death, comes directly from the combined image of Chronos and Cronus.
The Grim Reaper is sometimes depicted as being accompanied by a crow too.
It may be that in ancient Greek culture the crow was somehow associated with death, perhaps because crow pecked at the corpse on the battlefields. It is also true that the greek word for crow means 'Corone' sounds much like Cronus and Chronos. By the Middle ages, there were many engravings of the Grim Reaper which depict a skeletal
Figure holding a scythe and the
hourglass with a crow nearby. Also, you must
not forget the lady Morgain too.
Well I hope you enjoy my first post of the
a new year with I hope I will have many
more for you to come
Happy New Year

PATTERSON ROAD

Patterson Road

IN HOUSTON, TEXAS, CULTURAL MEMORIES OF THE CIVIL WAR HAVE SPARKED NUMEROUS URBAN LEGENDS.
ONE OF THE CREEPIEST IS IN THE CENTER AROUND PATTERSON ROAD, LOCATED NEAR HIGHWAY SIX;  Claims, depending on whom you are talking too that the road is haunted. However, everyone agrees that the ghosts involved were Civil War soldiers. Why? Because, as we all know, every bit of land someone from that period walked across has become a ghostly hot spot for the spirits of the soldiers of the CIVIL WAR. Believers of the ghosts of the Patterson Road say that if you go into the Langham Creek Bridge on Patterson late at night and park your car with the lights off, you will hear tapping sounds or see a white mist that will surround your car. There are even more skeptical locals that will point out that parking your car with your lights off on a busy bridge is a good way to become a ghost yourself. The image that I have is one that I found that is what the folks have seen on the Patterson Road and the spirits of the soldiers of the Civil War. As you can see the white mist surrounds them and they very much look like they come from that period where so many souls were killed by South/North. I hope you find this small post interesting my dears friends and followers love you all very much

ICICLE WOMAN OF JAPANESE FOLKLORE

ICICLE WOMAN OF JAPANESE FOLKLORE~
ICICLE WOMAN
Good evening my dearest friends&followers and welcome to my
humble blog once again. I thought since you all enjoyed the legend of the Sandman and many of my other Urban legends I would put a few more in for the last month of the coming new year. I was watching T.V. today with my beloved husband and they were talking about some of the Japanese folklore and how some are true and some or just folklore. For me, I really don't know. However, I find them very interesting. The Icicle Woman is called the Tsurara Onna.
It is said that the Japanese Icicle woman could be either naughty or nice? Loving or Lethal? in the Japanese Folklore. If these stories are true, the story of the Icicle woman/Tsurara Onna is a warning to the men of Japan if you fashion a woman out of an icicle, even when yu pour your entire heart into it, don't be surprised if she turns out to be a cold-blooded soul.
ICICLE WOMAN
IN HER BEAUTIFUL FORM
First I should explain what the Icicle woman of the Japanese folklore does or mean? In all the Tsurara Onna tales/Icicle Woman will start out the same way---a lonely man will gaze out of his window during the cold snowy winter, and will marvel at the beauty of an icicle hanging from his eaves of his home. As he stares deeply into the crystal-like structure, he wishes he could meet a beautiful woman just like the Icicle, to ease the pains of his loneliness. Well, just like magick a woman appears fitting his extra description the very next day. The woman appears at the lonely man's door seeking refuge from a massive and sudden snow storm. Well, as the tale goes the lonely man lets the beautiful woman in his home not knowing what is in store for him & they fall in love. The woman decides to never leave, and the two become husband and wife. In old ancient Japan, no ceremony was necessary. So they decided to marry.
ICICLE WOMAN ON THE MOUNTAIN
Well, life was good---as least for a little while. The man's new wife was quite attentive, very loving & everything he could ever hope for. However, after a while things did go wrong, because there is rarely a Happily ever after in Japanese Folklore. In Japanese folklore when you are dealing with snow monsters it never ends nice or happy. There are two different versions of this tale it just depends on which regions of Japan you happen to live.
The first version of Icicle Woman Folktale~
It seems there was one thing that worried the man about his wife, he couldn't help notice that his new bride never bathes, even on the most chilly of nights. The man started to worry about her health---surely she will get sick if she doesn't warm herself in a warm bath? Not to mention cleanliness. Over the years, he tries to entice her to use the bath & he also assured her she should feel shy or ashamed.
Well, after much talk, his wife then demurs, but eventually she can no longer refuse her husband.
After he prepares a nice warming bathe for her, he keeps himself busy around the house so she can enjoy a nice good soak. Well, hours & hours pass & the man becomes worried about his wife. He thinks perhaps she has fallen asleep in the bath? So he goes into the back of the house to check on her & finds the tub to be empty, with only frozen shards of shattered icicles laying around the perimeter of the bath. These too slowly had melt away.
[Some say what had happened was this; the woman never went into the bath, but into the kitchen to heat up some hot sake for her husband. After a long wait, he goes to the kitchen to find the shattered icicle shards].
Second Version of the Icicle Woman of Japanese
~The Frozen Dagger of Hate~
Well, this version is a bit more harsh yu could say... In this tale as some say 'The Frozen Dagger of Hate'. The Icicle Woman who had become his wife, he doesn't coax his wife into the bath or ask her to retrieve hot sake for him. Instead, what happens they get through winter in perfect bliss. however as spring comes and the temperatures warms, the man has notices his wife is getting anxious for some odd reason. One day the man woke up and his wife was gone, the door of their house was standing wide open and the last of winter winds was blowing through. The husband was heartbroken, but he assumed his wife has left him after using him for shelter through the winter. So he moves on with his life and meets a new woman and falls in love. Come summer, he moves his new wife into his house, They pass the months very happily until winter comes again.
When the world froze over again, the man notices a particularly large Icicle forming from the eaves of his house. Fascinated by it, he goes outside for a better look. Within minutes, he sees his former wife, lived that she has been replaced with another woman.
Inside the home, his new wife hears her husband shriek in agony. She then rushed outside and found him dead, with an large icicle piercing from his head through his eyeball.
Well my dears friends & followers that
are the tale of the Icicle woman of the
Japanese folktale the nice and not so nice version
I hope you enjoy

NEIMAN MARCUS COOKIES

Neiman Marcus Cookies-Recipe
Good morning my dearest Followers, Friends, & Readers. HAPPY FOOLS DAY!
Well, for todays post I thought I would do an Urban Legend that is actually True! I'm not really good with pranks, so I hope that you all enjoy the tale. This one is actually True. It's called 'Neiman Marcus Cookies' and I found it in my book called 'The Colossal Book of Legends. From what the woman had said, in just the first couple of lines, I just had to tell her story.
This is the story;
'My daughter & I had just finished a salad at Neiman Marcus Cookies Cafe in Dallas & decided to have a small dessert. Because both of us are such cookie lovers. We decide to try the 'Neiman Marcus Cookie." It was so excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe & the waitress said with a small frown, "I'm afraid not'. Well, would you let me buy the recipe? With a cute smile, the waitress said, yes. I asked how much? The waitress responded, "only two fifty'. I said great deal & just added it to my tab. Well, thirty days later, she received her visa statement from Neiman Marcus and her bill was $285.00. She had to look at the bill twice, then remembered that she had only spent 9.95$ for two salads and about $20.00 for a scarf. She glanced at the bottom of the statement and it said, "COOKIE RECIPE $250.00.
She said that was outrageous!
She called Neiman's accounting Dept and told them the waitress said 'two-fifty dollars to her'.
She asked if there was anyone there possible to interpret the phrase 'only two fifty?' Sadly Neiman Marcus refused to budge on the matter. They would not refund her money, because according to them, 'What the waitress told her is not our problem. You have already seen the recipe so we absolutely will not refund your money at this point.
She said, Okay, You folks got my $250. Now I'm going to have fun. She told the Neimans Accounting Dept, she was going to see to it that every cookie lover in the United States with an email account has a $250 Cookie Recipe from Neiman-Marcus for FREE!
NOTE AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS TRUE URBAN LEGEN SHE SAID- 'THIS IS TRUE -PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ AND PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON YOU KNOW!
It seems that they replied, 'I wished you wouldn't do this! However, the woman that Neiman Marcus wouldn't refund the $250.00 relied Well, you should have thought of that before!
So there it is & and here is the Recipe to that could be halved-
Neiman Marcus cookies Recipe-
2-cups butter
4-cups flour
2-tsp. Soda (club soda)
2-cups sugar
5-cups blended oatmeal...
24-oz. Chocolate chips
3-cups chopped nuts (your choice)
2-cups brown sugar
1-tsp salt
1-8 oz Hershey Bar graded

US COASTAL CITIES & the RISEINING SEAS COULD THREATEN MILLIONS

US COASTAL CITIES & the RISES SEAS
COULD THREATEN MILLIONS-

In this post, I have been wanting to do this subject matter for quite some time. I will try to give you as much information that I can on this subject so that you will be in the coming years. As you know by looking at my blog, I have an clear subject going on with blog; One is the love and strong believe in the Fae, love of fantasy, mythology, urban legends, gardens, stories, poetry, faeries, dragons, hummingbirds, causes for children and animals and much more. However there is another side to me that I used to do when I was on network sites - Ning networks... And one of them was Climate and how it effects our planted. Since the world was so effected by weather the last couple of years I thought I would do a new group of posts on the problems that we are all are facing with Climate change. I hope you find this post interesting and helpful. I will do one or two a week, or when I find them. The first problem on American soil is the growing number of Americans that are making their new or old homes very near the idyllic beaches of the Florida Keys. I must say this area is beautiful, however it's also a very dangerous area too. Its only a matter of time when half of the state of Florida is under the ocean.  Sadly this is one of the first place that will be rushed with Hugh rogue waves that will cover have of the entire state of Florida. And beautiful Florida Keys will be gone! You see the combination of rising populations and rising seas could see millions of Americans living in homes that flood regularly during the next decades ahead, according to a nationwide analysis who wrote in the journal 'NaturFlooding' is already a routine during high tides and storms in parts of Florida.
The only way to protect the populations is by taking step now, and that is relocation of large populations or redirect the building in these high dangerous area's of the rising seas to come. Which isn't going to be easy because most don't believe that this is actually going to happen. The other huge problem that we need to address is the rising levels of the greenhouse effect of gas pollution that is continue warming the planet which is causing the seas to rise and the glaciers to melt. Scientists have combined their studies and research on the matter on local population trends with the conservation projections for the rising sea levels to conclude that the homes of 4million Americans would be inundated during high tides following 3 feet of seal level rise by the year 2100. I quote one ecologist at Stetson University as he says' Once you take into account growth of population, the numbers end up being two to three times more in terms of overall population that's going to be impacted than of you just look at current populations, who contributed to the study 'Florida really pops out'!
It would seem that the scientific researches have already done some preliminary steps in adapting to the rising seas in Monroe County & in some other vulnerable regions too. This places were studied for many things such as if a fossil fuel burning and deforestation continued at the current rates, they found it was leading to sea level rise of 6 feet by 2100. Sadly with these predictions, the researchers projected that the number of Americans living in homes that would be in the flooding areas would jump to 13million. Sadly most of those 13 million people that would be impacted by the rising seas;
California, New York and Louisiana alike would be home to about 1million people apiece whose homes could flood at high tide in 2100 if seas rise by 6 feet. Even though the results are speculative they are assume that developers well continue to build homes in the same manner on coastal hubs the way they currently do and at the current rates with the rising seas they also assume that the people will not make any changes and remain in the same area of the rising flood area's. Because no one truly believes it will happen. Another researcher at the nonprofit resource for the future said', 'People may now be living in areas that will be inundated in 50 or 100 years but we have time to react'. 'Sea level rise is not an immediate impact there is time to move and adapt.'
Nobody really know how our communities will be reshaped as the flooding continues to become more routine in the lowland area's. We just have to hope that the people will listen to the warning early as the projections are true - so that we can re locate millions of people before it happens.
In doing this post I did find that Florida is in the most danger of loosing huge percent of their populations. If the rising seas just goes to 3 feet they could loose about 4percet of the population of Florida and if its 6 feet well, that could be a disaster. The problem could affect nearly 2million residents of the county in 2100, even more that a third of the people who are expected to live there by the year too. As for the affect on Monroe County , which includes key west and other islands at the tip of Florida or any islands around the world that are sea level, they all would be hit the hardest. If the seas rise up to 6 feet+ by 2100 the researcher project that 83% of its residents world endure daily flooding. Some saw that half of Florida would be gone after all the flooding is done and no more island in around the oceans would survive. So we need to act now and help as many people as we can. Sadly when  I started doing this over 10+ years ago no one believed I hope now people will start because it is getting worst and it will happen. I just wish that people would have listen 10+ years ago when lots of folks were trying to tell people it was going to happen and it was slowly how lets just hope it isn't to late. love you Wendy...

Gwragedd Annwn

Gwragedd Annwn~
Gwragedd Annwn
on her boat in wales
Good evening my dear Friends & Followers I have a wonderful tale of an welsh water faerie Gwragedd Annwn. I hope you might stop by to have a good read when you have some time in your busy days..  They legend starts as this my dears ~ Once there was an legend of an submerged town in one of the many lakes in Wales near the Black Mountains. Some have said it was to be the home of Gwragedd Annwn. They say the people of Wales that live near these lakes have seen Towers and rooftops beneath the surface of the water. Plus if your lucky on a beautiful clear sunny day, they can even hear the bells from the towers below the depths of the lake. The tale of the water faerie Gwragedd Annwn is an wonderful story and to many they believe that it is true and is still very much alive today as do I! The Gwragedd Annwn or Gwrageth anoon are the welsh water faeries that live in the beautiful lakes of wales. These water faeries maidens that live on and in these lakes all over wales will occasionally take on an mortal husbands to live with inside their beautiful castle beneath the lake. Well there is one well-known legend that tells of a young man who used to graze his cattle by a small lake near the Black mountains. One day he saw a most enchanting creature rowing gently to and fro in a golden boat on the surface of the lake. He fell deeply in love with her and offered her some of the bread he had brought from home for his midday meal. She answered that the bread was too hard and disappeared into the depths of the lake. The young mans mother gave him some unbaked dough to take with him the next day and he offered this to the faerie of the lake, but when she appeared from the lake, she answered that it was too soft and again disappeared into the depths of the lake. Finally on the third day his mother gave him some lightly baked bread, and after the beautiful Gwragedd Annwn appeared from the lake and tasted the bread it did indeed passed. Suddenly three figures rose from the lake, an old man with a beautiful daughter on either side of him. The girls were identical and the father told the young farmer that he was willing to offer him the daughter with whom he was in love with if he could point her out. Well, the farmer would have given up in despair , but one slightly moved her foot and he; recognized  her slipper, won her hand.
The Faerie Gwragedd Annwn
The water-faerie was given a fine dowry and they lived together happily. However, the young farmer had been warned that he would lose his beautiful wife should he ever strike her three times cause by even the smallest strike. So the farmer thought nothing of that because he would never strike his beautiful wife. But after a few years had went by, it so happened that even though they were indeed blissfully happy; His wife the Gwragedd Annwn had some curious faeries traditions, she might weep at a wedding or laugh and sing at funerals of a child and this eventually led to her loving husband reproving her three times more by a love-tap than a blow, but this was enough in her family's eyes to force her to leave him. She did not forget her sons that she had with the farmer and taught them many secrets of medicine so that they became famous physicians of the mortal world. I hope that you all Enjoyed the tale  of the Faerie of the lake. I hope to bring you more
story's, myths, and urban legends my dear

AOKIGAHARA FOREST OF DEATH

AOKIGAHARA FOREST~
Aokigahara Forest - wondering if
this young man made it out?
I have always been curious about the
Japanese Aokigahara Forest which they have even made a movie about it, but the truth is it's a very scary place to be & has been for hundreds of years taking young lives.
I thought since You, my delightful readers, followers, and friends do like the Urban legends I would start with one of the most legendary. I hope that you find it interesting. But you must remember this is a forest that is shrouded by death. An legend that is seen as truth.
Mount Fuji that rests in the shadows
of the Aokigahara Forest
Resting in Mount Fuji's shadow lies a forest shrouded by death, the world's second most popular suicide location in the world--Called
'the perfect place to die'. The Aokigahara Forest has the unfortunate distinction of the world's second most popular place that folks take their lives. [Note the First is the Golden Gate Bridge in Sanfransico].
It is said since the 1950s, Japanese businessmen have wandered in and at least 500 of them have never come out. At an increasing rate of between 10 and 30 per year will die in the Aokigahara Forest in Japan. Geologist Azusa Hayano who has studied the Aokigahara Forest for 20+ which I will add to this post later in this post.
Aokigahara Forest is recently
having more suicides over the years
Recently the numbers have sadly increased to a record of 78 suicides in 2002. The belief in Japan is that the suicides that have been committed in the Aokigahara Forest have permeated the trees, which has generated a paranormal activity and preventing many who enter from every leaving the forest's depths, this is believed by Japanese spiritualists who have studied the area for many years some up to 20+years. There are other complicating matters that Geologists & Scientists are finding too. This could be the uncommon rich deposits of magnetic iron in the area's volcanic soil. They say due to the vastness of the forest, desperate visitors are unlikely to encounter anyone once they step inside the so-called 'SEA OF TREES", so the police have mounted signs reading, 'YOUR LIFE IS A PRECIOUS GIFT FROM YOUR PARENTS. PLEASE CONSULT THE POLICE BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO DIE! on trees throughout.
Aokigahara Forest
Sadly these warnings do not deter the determined people who feel live is not worth living anymore and are determined to commit suicide in this forest of death. It is said that Annually about 70 corpses is found by volunteers who clean the woods, however, many of these volunteers that clean the woods are forever lost in the very thick woods. Japanese authorities have not published the exact numbers of suicides, the reason for this is to make the place less popular. They say the Locals can easily spot 3-types of visitors that go to the Forest;
1-trekkers interested in scenic views of Mount Fuji.
2-curious visitors hoping to get a glimpse of the macabre
3-Lastly sadly all those souls who plan to come to the forest and
never on returning.
Sad Suicide person
The problem that the folks that come to the Aokigahara Forest to end their lives, they have no idea the impact their suicide have on the locals folks and the forest workers that have to clean up after them. You see they only monthly patrols and annual body hunts which  police and volunteers scour the forest for victims. In the words of one man,' It bugs the hell out of me that the area's famous for being a suicide spot'. Also, the local police have said that they have seen more badly decomposed bodies to last a lifetime.  Many don't know what the works of cleaning up the forest go through, they must carry the decomposed bodies from the forest to the local station--there the bodies are put in a special room used specifically to house suicide corpses. After they do that, the forest workers well play 'jan-ken-pon' (rock, paper, scissors)to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpses. Yu may wonder why one of the workers has to sleep in the room with the corpses, well it is believed that if the corpses are left alone, it is very bad luck for the
Yurei--Ghost of the suicide victims. Their spirits are said to scream through the night and their bodies will move on their own.
The link below is where I found the info...
www.atlasobscura.com/places/aokigahara-suicide-forest
Aokigahara Forest
Aokigahara Forest
There are some places on this Earth that people say to be cursed.
Well, at the foot of Japan's Iconic Mt. Fuji lying sprawled amongst some of the most majestic scenery in Japan. At the base of this picturesque mountain lies the haunted destination of broken souls known as Aokigahara Forest. Which is also referred to as the 'Sea of Trees' or the Creep version ' infamously infested 'Suicide Forest'.
I thought I would tell you a little bit about the history of the Aokigahara Forest since I've told you about the legend/truth of the Forest. Aokigahara Forest lies at the northwest base of Mt. Fu, which looms overhead with its majestic peak. It is a starkly beautiful landscape renowned for its breathtaking scenery and vistas. The forest itself is approximately 35square km(14square miles)in an area and from a distance seems like an idyllic, pristine wilderness area.
Aokigahara Forest
However, looks can be deceiving. The moment one steps into the Aokigahara Forest, it quickly becomes apparent that something
is slightly odd about the place. The first thing that one might notice
is the disconcerting silence within the forest. Another odd thing would be how density packed the trees block the sun & wind which produces a very dark, eerie blanket of creep quiet. This compounded with the lack of wildlife in the forest or that one can see or hear. You would think you would hear the sounds of birds and other types of wildlife and the chirping and chattering in abundance in the forest. However, oddly in the enormous Aokigahara Forest, there is a natural absent of sound & wildlife. It's like they are hiding from something that is not from this world. Some have described the quality of the sound in the forest to have a somewhat muted quality to it as if being heard through a thick veil or another room.
Another thing that people discover is that compasses do not work in the Forest. What does happen your compasses needle may jerk & jump about spasmodically? The languid circuits around the compass will constantly go around and around. It is said that this happens because of the magnetic anomalies induced by the rich deposits of magnetic iron in the volcanic soil in the forest. But it isn't just the volcanic soil of the forest, there is an disorienting effect of the forest goes beyond merely rendering the compass useless.
There have been even the most experienced hikers to venture to Aokigahara that have the claim that for some reason in this forest they get easily confused in the dark & silent place. They all think it's due to the uncommon silence and hikers inexplicably traveling around in circles unable to navigate even in just short distances in the forest.
Shoes of all ages
From these experiences, many have planted markers or plastic tape on the trees in order not to lose their way however it does not always work. Some are lucky other are not. Then there is the Creepy litter that is strewn about the forest floor --- like that of Pairs of shoes, both children's older folks and adults, lined up on moss covered in gnarled logs. Also, there may be a packet of entire mundane photographs, song lyrics scrawled upon the envelope, lying forgotten and untouched amongst the underbrush. Other trinkets could be a child's doll lying wide-eyed atop the twisted roots of a tree, its vacant eyes staring up as if trying to peer through the crooked branches above the thick trees.
Odd Trinkets abandoned among
the trees
Besides finding odd trinkets abandoned among the trees they could be placed seemly jarred out of place here and there all over the forest floor. Which could seem odd to some forests but not to this pristine wilderness? These Items only add to a growing sense of the creepiness of the Aokigahara Forest. Sadly even with all the eery occurrences, warnings of the police many tourists still visit the area to see the magnificent scenery and the numerous rocky caverns scattered throughout the Forest. Many of these caverns that you find are quite dangerous to the unwary & the warning signs are a common sight to warn you among the think trees as you approach these caves. Sadly there are still large numbers of visitors that are brave or crazy to trek inside them to seem every year. It is said that above and beyond the unsettling elements of the forest is very dangerous but even darker inside the caverns of Aokigagara. In addition to those who are drawn to the caverns which have been told to have beautiful scenery, hiking, the drives in the hundreds of lost souls who come here every year to die. All die even the ones that are here to have fun hiking and checking out the scenery of the caverns because they all never find the way out of the forest. It is also said to be a rather morbidly way to died & the perfect place to die'. Since the monthly patrols only happen annual for the body hunts, it is said that the numbers are likely to be even higher in the deep forest, the numerous caves, crevasses, and caverns. The forest has the ability to quickly and thoroughly decompose remains of its victims.
Some decomposing bodies of the victims are stumbled across every

year by new visitors, coming into the Forest. This could hike through an otherwise beautiful wilderness, then across the field an horrific sight of a corpse hanging from a tree or a skeleton with its legs poking out of the dense foliage on the forest floor. This is the reality of Aokigahara Forest. It is very difficult for the local police and volunteers to locate all of the dead that are hidden away within the dark wood or to accurately estimate how many have died there.
They only know one thing for sure and that is that every year the numbers of those come to the Forest to die is increasing sadly.
Forest Ghosts
Even with the endless measures of putting signs as well as installing security cameras and sending more police patrols hasn't stopped the increasing numbers of people meeting their doom. are thinking about ending their lives are mysteriously drawn there by supernatural forces within the dark forest that beckon them to come.
It is said that some of these lonely souls who enter the Aokigahara ubasute) -- a custom in which a sick or elderly relative was allegedly abandoned in a desolated location such as a remote mountain or forest and left to die. It was said the victims of ubasate in the
Aokigahara Forest-- elderly victims became vengeful ghosts relentlessly prowling the twisted trees. Many also believe that all the suicides over the hundreds of years in the forest have permeated the very trees, which generated a paranormal activity. That means it has driven all the wildlife away and preventing many who enter from ever escaping the forest grasp.
Forest of Aokigahara
Forest and survived their attempts of suicide have told of having the vague feeling of being somehow called to or pulled towards the forest. It was like having the inexplicable compulsion to make the journey there. Knowone can be certain but it seems that Aokigahara has its own paranormal happenings too. In the early days before records were kept on the suicides on the Aokigahara forest, the area has a long history steeped in spooky lore and mythology. They have said the dim forest was long thought to be the haunt of demons and ghosts of who prowled the landscape and terrified travelers that came within the forest. In the old days, it was also believed that it was once a popular place for the gruesome practice of (ubasate )

the Forest
They say too that the forlorn souls of those who committed suicide in that Aokigahara forest are doomed to eternally to inhabit its depths, trapped within the gnarled trees & forever beckoning others to join them. So the curse continues on and on sadly.
I found another interesting view on the 'Jukai' 'The sea of Trees'  he is a Geologist Azusa Hayano has been documentary the forest and film making its hauntings for over 30+ Azusa has been documenting and trying to see the many clues that have been left behind by the one that have taken their lives in desperation or other reason that he has studied for decades. All that is left among the trees is the persons few items that they leave behind the moment before they take their own life. Some of these
things have been even notebooks with writings or nothing at all but maybe pictures. The Geologist Azusa has taken many rolls of film of theses sites of men, women who have taken their lives however when he does talk in the film he is clear has compassion for the people through his softly spoken voice. This pensive man acts out of a desire to understand and to try everything he can to prevent these tragedies. I must say in his video the footage does include some very disturbing stills of bodies found dangling in the forest that might not be quite the film that google would want me to put on my blog page. There are equally chilling possessions of bodies that are left behind with often signs of distress and indecision too. So for Mr. Hayano suicide in his country of Japan has changed so much of the many centuries. Whereas it was once the preserve of the Samurai, who would commit the ritual act of 'Harakiri' to preserve their 'Honour'. Today it is merely a mark of social isolation in the modern world sadly. Mr. Hayano believes it's impossible to die heroically by committing suicide in his opinion.
Mr. Hayano tries to stop a suicide
He also feels it is all a symptom of the increasingly impersonal and lonely way of how we live today within the internet, not with true human contact. Quote' How can we live our lives being online all day. However, the truth of the matter is we still need to see each other's faces, read their expression hear their voices so we can fully understand their emotions basically to coexist'.
