African Mythology of the Mermaid Goddess Mami Wata-

African Mythology of the Mermaid Goddess Mami Wata-
This is an typical
look for Mami Wata an all
African Mermaids at the
times
In this post my dears Friends and Followers I am going to bring you into the African Mythology of the Mermaid Goddess called Mani Wata.  Mani Wata was one of the most Popular cults in western and Central Africa. Mani Wata religion was carried into the New world by the African slaves to all parts to the world. She is a Goddess in the Cult of Voudun. However, not the one you might have heard of in Hollywood Voodoo nonsense. Mani Wata had even influenced many of the American Indians Myths too.
Besides being an Goddess/Mermaid Mami Wata was described as being much more that just a beautiful woman. Her beauty was so extreme it was said to be supernatural. When she did ware clothes which wasn't that often, she seemed to shine in ways that no other woman could match. Mami Wata possesses an unimaginable wealth and would dazzling everyone with her jewelry. Besides all the jewels in the world that she had to her disposal, many times she was nude with just a snake coiled around her waist and its head between her breasts. Her hair is black and her skin,  a cocoa light brown was an unusual trait in the African Mythology at the time. In her mermaid form she is naked. Since she is a goddess of wealth she may be shown with a golden mirror or a golden
comb. Like that of many European mermaids she is often combing her long black hair while gazing into the golden mirror. It seems that Color is very important in African Mythology. Colors have an opposite meanings in African Mythology and have important characteristic of the Goddesses  Mami Wata. Why? Well because unlike many other Gods/Goddess, she is described in terms of opposites. Which means, its a way of saying that her true nature is beyond all opposites and all things.  I know its a bit complicated but, some of these Mythology's are a little over the top. Sometimes I have a hard time understanding what they are trying to say too. Anyway on with the tale. It seems that Mani Wata is alot like the  Greek Goddesses of the Olympians too. Her colors are red and white. As you will seen in some the the images that I will share with you..  Red is the color of blood and death/Violence Male qualities in the African Mythology. However, Red can also mean transparent or clear too. If I have lost you, I am a bit confused too. However, it does get a bit easier as the legend goes on.. Mami Wata was a Symbol in African Mythology as a nature force that didn't follow human ideas of good & evil.  She was also a goddess of fertility, sexuality, healing, wealth and Beauty. Its seems that in the African Mythology they have even compared her to the the Goddess Aphrodite or Astarte from a living cult. Mami Wata has the attributes of a mermaid too! the beautiful tail, the comb, mirror, long hair and beauty, She is a genuine goddess with followers who both love and feared her. She is an ancient goddess in Modern times. Also it seems that in the African Folk tales about the Mami Wata are contradictory; They show her as both the bringer of fortune and of misfortune. The reason for this is, because she is a goddess and she has never been an human thus has not understanding of the human condition. So to her there is no difference between good and evil. Interesting Eh!
Mami Wata now in her Mermaid form- Well it seems that sometimes she can be seen splashing about in the oceans at the end of rainbows after heavy storms. Or maybe even on sunny days she may decide to sun bathe on a rock...if you are so lucky to catch a look. It is said that she lives in a magical realm 'Underwater' a transparent land of pure spirit.  In other stories she will come up from her watery realm and assume the appearance of a beautiful mortal woman.
And when she does this she might even to out to the bars, flirting and giving the impression she is a loose woman. Mani Wata in this form will even go to bed with a man and soon after he will find he has contradict a STD or became impotent. She isn't a very nice Goddess as a human I must say! My oh, My...I also found that she is sometimes used as an slang term for prostitute in Africa. Other African folk tales are the opposite of what I just described you above. Mami Wata will come to a man who is one of her devoted followers. After a night of lust she will reveal her true identify to him and then demand that he remain faithful to only her.   Now if he does remain faithful to her, Mami Wata rewards him with her weath and a very good life. However, if the man ever breaks his word, she will take from him all she has given him and so much more...which one doen't want to even talk about!!!
In some of the African Folk tales, she will take, men or even women away to her land beneath the water her "Magical Realm". These mortal men & momen are trasformed by the experience, meaning when they all are retured to earth they are quite different in many ways.. They are more serene and stranglely remote from the world around them. Also they have become quite more beautiful and have become wealthy. Know one really knows how these things happen they just do. Mami Wata has also appeared to people in their dreams, counseling them or granting them the boons of wealth, good health and even children. However, there is a little contradiction here when it comes to Mami Wata granting children to women in their dreams. Why? I discovered that Mami Wata denies children to those women who are her special favorites. These such women are chosen to represent her in the human world and are otherwise granted beauty and wealth. So this is why exceptionally beautiful women are sometimes called "Mami Wata'' in Africa. I hope You all Enjoyed the post

Red Deer Fairy

Red Deer Fairy-
Red Deer Fairy
Hello my dear Friends & Followers, for days post I am going to tell you about an tale about the 'Red Deer Fairy'~
I found this while looking for new and interesting material for you all to read on my blog 'Fairy Animals'. It seems the Insular Celts held the deer as an very supernatural animal 'Fairy Animal'. For Example 'Fairy Cattle', that were herded an then milked by an localised and benevolent fairy giantess bean sidhe in each district of Scotland, who could shift-shape into the shape of a Red Deer in the West Highlands. This Red Deer Fairy had selected the individual deer that would be slain the next days hunt. I will go further on to why these Red Deer Fairy do what they do~
In Ireland, an Chaileach Bhearach - meaning 'The Old Woman of Beare,' who is on an Island off the coast of County Cork will also take the form of a deer to avoid capture too. There are others in the Celtic mythological legends that have such figures that do to such as Oisin, Flidais and Sadb which are all connected to the Red Deer.
So as promised the legend and true tale of the Red Deer Fairy of the Highlands of Scotland. I fell in love with this tale, I hope you do too:o) Everywhere in the Highlands of Scotland the people there know of the Red-Deer and how they are associated with the Fairies. Also how in some places are said to be their only cattle. Moreover , this association is enhanced by the Fairy-like appearance and habits of the deer too. Timid and easily startled are they by every sound or appearance that a human might make. Its said the you should not move in the presence of the Fairies. However, to popular belief no deer is ever found dead with age, and that its horns, which it sheds every year are never found because they are hidden by the Fairies.  The transformation of the deer to Fairy is quite peculiar if you are so lucky to see it.
The Red Deer Fairy
In Her True Form
What happens is this;; The Fairy woman will assume the shape of the Red-Deer and in that guise they are often encountered by many hunters. The Elves have a particular dislike to those who kill the hinds(deer) and on finding them in lonely places, delight in throwing elfin bolts at them ( Which I would guess are Magick to either put human hunters in at deep sleep or worst). When a dead deer is carried home at night the Fairies lay their weight on the bearer's back, till he feel as if he had a house for a burden. So meaning  they don't make it easily for them getting the deer home. Some have said the in some districts as Lochaber and
Mull are highly associated with the Red-Deer Fairies. Also only far few have seen the actually fairy in their true form after the deer had pasted. They are small and usually dressed in green. Some might even have green hair too. but one really doesn't know because not that many have see the the true form or if they have they never been able to remember...
Well my dear Friends & Followers I hope that you all  Enjoyed
the Post on the Animal Fairy the Red Deer.. I love you all very Much Hugs!!!

Wulgaru Giant

Wulgaru Giant-
Wulgaru Giant
Well at least as close
as I could find
for Your all!
Hello my dear Friends & Followers, for today's post I'm going give you a tale about the Wulgaru Gigantic Artificial Humanoid. This legend was in the traditions and beliefs of the Native Australian People. So the legend tells of how a man called Djarapa takes living wood directly from a tree and makes the shape of a Gigantic Human of wood. Djarapa carves away into the wood, to slowly make the wood resemble an human characteristics, such as giving it ball and socket joints of stone and wood, an large mouth was carved in with shards of flint for the teeth, and Djarapa used pebbles for his eyes. As of hair for his Giant Humanoid, he found actual human hair to put on the Giant. As for how he was going to make the Giant to move, Djarapa hoped his Magick would bring his Wulgaru to life.  So all day and all night he chanted his ritual Magick, but on the second day, when nothing happened Djarapa kicked the Giant Creature and walked away in disgust. He was tried and irritated with the whole experiment. However, as he started his walk back to the village, Djarapa heard a strange thumping noise that was mimicking his own footsteps and the noise of wood grating against stones. So Djarapa decided to check it out. So he turned back and went  along the path through the high grasses that he came from. When he had reached the end of the path, he turned again on his heels to see what was following him so closely. To his horror and surprise, right in front of him was Wulgaru with such an evil look on its face that suddenly Djarapa was terrified of the Creation
that he had made! not only jut a few days ago and from just a TREE! The Wulgaru Giant!!!
So at that moment Djarapa ran as fast as he could, but wherever he went he couldn't get away from the Wulgaru Giant. Until he came upon a river. So what Djarapa did was this; when he figure-out that the Wulgaru Giant didn't like the water, he went back to a clump of trees that were nearby the river, carefully making sure that the only visible footsteps he left were those leading into the river. So as Djarapa hid up in the trees, he watched the pursuing Wulgaru Giant go straight into the river and he kept on walking into the river until he was totally submerged. Djarapa breathe a big sign of relief, but as he did so a huge ripple start to move on the other side of the river. Suddenly at that very moment the Giant emerged on the other side of the river, having walked across the entree bottom of the river bed's unscathed and continued straight towards the village. Well this of course horrified Djarapa even more and the fact that he created the Wulgaru Giant. So he jumped down from the tree he was hiding from and ran as fast as he could to tell the villagers about him So thats how the Wulgaru Giant became to life and the people of the village lived in fear ever since the Wulgaru Giant came into town. However, there is more to this tale. It seems that besides the people of the town having a Giant Wulgaru living among them, that could never be disposed of by any means. He also comes into town at night to punish and devour those who break the tribal laws. However, he leaves  thoses who are good unharmed.  I hope that you Enjoyed the tale of the
Wulgaru Giant.. Love you all my dear Friends & Followers very much hugs..
